I've always wanted to give Trackmania a go....because it seems shiny. But everyone I've known that plays it seems to indicate that with their new release schedule and lack of cross compatibility, populated servers only have about a 3-4 month life.

I've tried the $20 ones you can buy in the store, unfortunately they're bulky enough they interfere with my sleep
Have you tried a low profile boil-n-bite sports mouthpiece at a sports store for $15. If you mold it properly, it will stay while sleeping and provide protection from grinding.

Ahhhhh, Wisdom Teeth...how I hated thee. Had all of mine removed over a 5 year period after reaching adulthood. Wasn't life threatening.....but was an excellent choice. Having four teeth that were only partially erupted and causing constant damage/bleeding to the gums was not a fun thing.

Am I the only one that is VERY skittish about any GW licensed products? Just look at the current Steam sale; it seems like they've made shovelware a hobby in the past few years. The last really good 40k game was either Space Marine or Dawn of War II....and the only one that has gotten any real press pre-release has been Warhammer Total War.

I have about 100 hours in FO4 and have really enjoyed it. The frustration that made me put it down for a while is that I don't really like any of the factions. I want the Institute to prevail....but only after I've gone through and slaughtered most of the upper management, including my 'son'. They don't seem receptive to my furthering their cause every time I go down that path...

Helldivers has been fun on the Playstation with my kids. If you want to demo it, download Alien Swarm on Steam and play that for free. Almost the same gameplay....but HD is a bit more in depth.

So what's the cost on that, the price of a triple A better game like MW2? It's a pipedream.
You are correct. A "AAA" MW title is a pipedream. There will not ever be one because the audience has aged out of supporting a model like that. Why do you think the IP sat for 10 years? Also after seeing how rabid the fan base is...most devs will probably shy away.

Task wrote on Dec 11, 2015, 12:08:
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, then I'll explain if you haven't played much classic BattleTech or custom modes in previous games. Those Mechs you mentioned? You can create similar builds across most of them....
I ran a BT campaign for 5 years starting with the box set and cardboard stand ups. Played in numerous TT Tournaments. Bought the original PHRevenge and MWarrior to run on a Tandy 1000. I've owned and played extensively every MW game produced for PC and Xbox. So...yeah...up until the ruination of the timeline after about 3067, I'm pretty well versed in the game and its lore.

BT in TT could be run with stock builds...but it also provided for full customization in all of the rules post Battletech Compendium. You prefer to run stock variants. Great. Kudos. Most tournaments required that back when it was a widely played game. Some campaigns revolved around that playstyle.

MWO allows for a wide range of customization. Your assertion that a Marauder with 3xAC5 in the RT is the same as a Black Knight with 3xAC5's in the RT is amusing, but only shows that you have neither played the game or done your research. I'll give you 3 things that make different loadouts more or less powerful on different variants/chassis.
- Chassis shape and size. When looking at a mech from the front, are the hitboxes evenly distributed to ALLOW the mech to face-tank while firing away indiscriminately with AC5s? Or do you want to run something like a Centurion and a slower cycling AC so that you can shield with your off torso?
- Weapons slots. What exact location allows for what type of weapon? And are there enough free slots to accomodate a gauss?
- Weapon mount locations. Is the mount low on the RT like a Cataphract, or high like on a Marauder?
- Quirks. Each variant has certain bonuses or negative traits that cause them to be more efficient with particular weapons or tactics.
Beyond the actual location of weapon slots, nothing forces you to run a MAD-5D per the lore config.....but there are certain factors that can incentivize running something somewhat similar. Essentially it allows pilots to run what they wish...while stats nudge them in a lore direction.

So no....mechs are not cookie cutter builds all skinned to look different. Different chassis have different weak points and strengths.

Custom matches allow players to specify game modes, maps, tonnage limits, etc.... I do agree with you in that I wish that there was a "force stock variant build" option....but with the way the inventory/mechbay works, I can see how that might be a bit of a pain in the ass to code.

That rumor was just that, a rumor. PGI in no way has capability or money with this game to make an SP equivalent of the high-quality of MW2/3/4.
Sigh. Everyone rumormongering with false info or assumptions. Yes, there is a SP aspect in the works as of very recently. They want to add in an AI to add more variety to missions and allow them to add in SP content as well. In NO way have they indicated that it will be a high quality SP campaign at a AAA level. Quite frankly if you read between the lines and listen to the source material, the AI will be a very simple scripted aspect to add missions like escort, seek & destroy, recon, and smaller AI unit action. A couple of months ago they added a fair new player tutorial which was a step in the right direction.
Task wrote on Dec 11, 2015, 09:03:
against random Uber (Non-Battletech) Mechs,
What the devil are you babbling about? Every mech in the game is from the Battletech IP. As a matter of fact it is the first game to bring back the Unseen (Marauder, Warhammer, Archer, etc...).

Yeah, that's almost as entertaining as people who STILL didn't understand the difference between stealing a physical object and illegally copying a digital one.
Quite frankly...I've been listening to the difference between physical and digital duplication for 30 years since I first copied Castle Wolfenstein on an Apple II with Locksmith.... There is no denying the scarcity/production differences, but that by no means makes it righteous. It is a silly entitlement crutch trotted out to smugly excuse not compensating someone for their work. Kind of like ad blockers and microtransaction loopholes. Almost everyone with a PC is guilty of pirated material...but most above the age of 25 don't try to make it out to be the admirable protest while sticking it to The Man.

It is a relatively solid Battletech/Mechwarrior arena shooter now. That said, they are looking at releasing on Steam 9 days after a 'rebalance' patch. Their current 'rebalance' environments on the PBE are massive reworks of every weapon and system underpinning the game. If they go forward with the Steam launch immediately after such an upheaval....it will be a massive failure. If they can release the CWv3 content and only tweak current systems...it has the potential of being a fair release at best.

No...you spent $1000 on your health. I never realized how huge a difference a good chair made until I purchased one. Lower back pain is all pretty much a memory until I spend a day working clearing brush or the like...

These devs are assholes, instead of making it a Coop game, they fucking went for pvp. This is why I did not fund them.
ROFL! I didn't get my way so I'm stomping my feet? Really? They put out stretch goals based off the majority of player interest in order to maximize their kickstarter. More missions...expanded single player...pvp... And the hint of co-op (probably in an expansion). So they're assholes for sticking to what Battletech has always been in tabletop and on computers....and what will actually get the game funded. Gotcha.

One of two kickstarters I backed that I am really excited about. I particularly like how they didn't put up any further stretch goals. Instead they state that any further money will be for polish and co-op PvE.
