Hate to see historic things destroyed. I kinda feel like some dead Romans somewhere are having a good chuckle though. Still mad at them though. They could have at least protected their tech a little better so we didn't have to spend a thousand years re-inventing the toilet... sigh.

They are making more money trudging along than they would finishing. What's the incentive for them to actually complete the game any more?

And when we're all done with 'Factorio rehab' in a few months, we can get on with our lives. Seriously... this game is about as close as it comes to heroine for logical-thinking gamers.

Wow. Way to go tech industry. With all the in-fighting and faux pas so far, VR is probably like this to the rest of the world.... https://youtu.be/3yGiiU8_gnE?t=200

I'll vouch for Factorio! I haven't had this much fun playing a game for a LONG time. It's the kind of game you think about constantly when not playing...

You guys would definitely be surprised. I did Hour of Code at a nearby school and the teacher showed me a vid of a class project using Minecraft. They created a huge, historic building with an impressive amount of detail. The class learned cooperation, software skills, programming, persistence, and on and on... I'm sure they could have created a tooth stick model or something as well, but Minecraft really held up as a medium for them to accomplish that feat. I definitely don't think it's for every student or class, but given the right mix I think it works great!

With all the poor examples of Early Access games out there... you gotta give it to Keen and Wildcard (for Ark). I feel like those two devs are doing it right. There are issues, no way around it, but with nearly daily updates of noticeable feature additions... It's impressive and as a gamer, I find reading and keeping track of updates nearly as enjoyable as playing them! That is the Early Access phenomenon to me.

MS seems to be moving in the right direction by open sourcing their .Net stack and making Win 10 upgrades free. Even their Surface seems to be turning around. Now this? I like the pattern that seems to be resolving from the smoke. New CEO could be what they really needed. Just gotta be realistic enough to know it's not all out of wishes for world peace...

Watching Smedley competently pop open the console and spawn a vehicle just about has me sold outright. Guess he did come from programming roots even if he is now the Prez.

Not sure if any of you know the owner, but he put up a grab from the movie Patton (20th Cent Fox) on the product page. Hope he got rights for that or he might get in trouble.

I for one have played more SC2 multiplayer than I care to go back and count. I played Brood Wars a ton back in the day as well.

I really enjoy base-building RTS games, and I have yet to come across one that has the fan-base and keeping power of SC. So I'll keep playing. I have yet to find a game with the responsiveness and reliable pathfinding. The pathfinding isn't always what I want the units to do, but at least they do the same thing each time.

Uh... Looks like someone has been playing a little too much Starcraft 2. The rank insignia are almost identical to the SC2 ladder ones. Also, the layout of the game screen with the minimap and command bar are pretty close... Even the command icons are eerily similar.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was just familiarity with the whole Visual Studio IDE. I took a peek at the code and it's all pretty straightforward. Would be pretty easy I think for a beginner coder to get in and tinker around. Only stopping point would be understanding what all the servers do and how to get them all up and running in tandem as it seems like the .ini files are not in the project...unless I'm not seeing them.

Only caveat that I noticed at a glance was all the inline sql... no BLL or DAL would give me a headache.

Long time reader... Used to be a struggle back in the day before VE3D got absorbed on which to spend my time on, Blue or VE3D. Now I pretty much spend it here. Anyway, enough soggy talk. If you have another key, I'd love to check out AoE Online. Thanks.
