God forbid modern software developers assume gamers have a working imagination. Flesh out EVERY last aspect of a story, EVERY LAST DETAIL MUST BE CANONIZED!

The older I get, the more ashamed I become of being an active part of the generation that helped legitimize gaming in the mainstream.

Love or hate the idea but there's no way at all that the PR departments at Starbreeze and EA aren't wetting their pants in glee at the buzz this announcement has created. Positive or negative is irrelevant, fact is people are talking about it - A LOT.

I'll say it again - AHH GODDAMNIT!

The whole awesome part about Syndicate was being the puppet master behind the scenes of the agents and dictating their behaviour. Focusing a game into the head of a cybernetic agent surrounded by conspiracy is different from Deus Ex how?

WTF is this industry turning into? Launch parties featuring movie stars and rock bands for video games? Wasn't this type of excess reserved for the type of douchebag jocks who used to give all of us gamers swirlies back in the day?

Isn't this the exact same behaviour that got John Romero vilified to no end about a decade ago?

Did anyone else notice an issue with the party hat while playing a Medic? I wasn't able to switch to my needle gun while wearing it. Otherwise I've been having loads of fun with the game since it went free to play. Thanks Valve!

Yeah, and I want to play as Danny DeVito!

LOL Beat me to it!

YES! Playing a game as Danny DeVito playing a scheming lawyer is TOTALLY something I'd pay money for (though I think Ruthless People would make for even better gameplay).

But yet another team based MP game? ... really? We're supposed to get excited for this? I'm just gonna fire up TF2 instead.

I actually deleted the email thinking it was a phishing scam, the link is just an FAQ on the EA site.

Now I'm faced with the issue of trying to remember a 5-7 year old password for a service (Bioware Forums) that been integrated into something I've never created an account for (EA Online Account).

I can't even request a password reset as the email address they used to notify me of this security breach apparently doesn't have an associated account.... yay progress...

It's being made as a modern day equivalent to the Dark Alliance games, the devs even admitted to being BG:DA fans and they want to recreate that same type of casual gameplay with this one.

The Dark Alliance games were a blast on the original xbox back in the day when you just wanted to button mash. I guess that would explain why any preview clip I saw on youtube looked like a 10 year old game with slightly sharper graphics. I'll pass until it's in the $10 or less bin (or bundled with a controller).

LAME

The last DoW game (Retribution) felt like it was a day late and a dollar short and the serious lack of wargear variety for the heroes was a contributing factor after the 'variety' of the campaign.

Yes... there was 1 hero per faction who could choose between various heavy weapons but the rest were just basically upgrades to the default weapons. But anyone who's ever opened a codex and read the wargear options for independent characters in 40k knows just how neutered the options became.

Now we have to pay for it? Maybe if they were finishing up the 'unique' race campaigns I'd consider it, but for wargear that should have been there in the first place? Not gonna be the option I click in Steam, especially not with Shogun2 right on top of Dow in my list.

something isn't right with their claims of plugging in any old guitar into the machine... they're not addressing how the analog signal from the guitar is magically converted into a digital signal the machines can read. that's why every other game that used 'real' instruments needed some sort of MIDI interface and instrument. plus the clip on the site shows absolutely nothing of value towards the actual use of the product.

something fishy is going on, way too much marketing hype too late in the rhythm game. odds are they're trying to sell an interactive tutor.
