Hacking is a cost of having the great open platform that is PC gaming. We already have consoles. If that's what you want, go play on those instead! I'm not ready to sacrifice all the advantages like modding and fan patches just so that I don't meet a hacker from time to time.
Slick already talked about this. If you don't agree with his comments, refute them. Don't repeat what he's already responded too, you're just taking the conversation round in a circle.

Serious mode used to mean a LAN party. Pretty hard to get away with this shit if a guy can watch over your shoulder.
But that does absolutely nothing to discount the irony that the most secure platforms to have a clean competitive match today is on fucking consoles.
It's 2016, and your solution is "LAN party".
Jesus christ.
I gotta say though.. "Maybe people should wise up a little and stop trying to have serious competitive scenes online." is itching to be my new sig. It's not quite as asinine as my current one, but it's damn close.
Like I said, hacking through software is %100 not happening on consoles right now, the hundreds of millions of console gamers that play hacker-free matches 24 hours a day. And your security measure for the PC is "have a guy look over your shoulder".
Jesus christ.

This isn't a conspiracy theory. Microsoft wants a closed platform. They want all the money and the death of their competition.
You mean like Valve? For which having Steam as quasi monopoly wasn't enough so they wanted to take over the whole PC game world with their SteamOS.

You would think that if a dev was offering a steam key that it would be on the up and up and through Steam.
Is this the developers fault?
The article does a poor job of explaining what happened.
or the scumbags themselves are filing illegitimate chargebacks and small indie studio simply cannot handle the workload involved with disputing them all. A bank will give their customer the benefit of the doubt if the merchant in question does not respond in time to a chargeback
If this is true and developers are aware of the risks involved it comes back around to being the developers fault for not handling their side of the business properly.

Hey apathetic devs and publishers... stop it. Even Microsoft gets it now. We dont want another launcher. Just put it on steam or sell it on gog.com.
Just knock it the hell off.
Easy for us to say, but Steam charges quite a fee to sell your game, when you are big enough why would one simply surrender such revenue? I get our side of it, but I get their side as well.
Yeah, you can't blame them, but it's actually also good for us. Competition is good for consumers.
I'm not convinced competition is that good - just look at sports in the UK. I used to be able to watch football for the price of my TV License. Now, if I want to watch it I need a TV License, Sky Sports Subscription, BT Sports Subscription and pay for EuroSports too ... I missed the part where it was an improvement!

I went ahead and bought DOOM while it was on sale. The demo didn't impress me but I decided to give the game another chance. It's really a mediocre shooter. All I want is shoot but I'm constantly hindered by the gore kill mechanic where the enemies are dazed instead of just dying. Furthermore the chainsaw is absolutely ATROCIOUS in this game. I cannot believe they were able to fuck this up so badly. What's wrong with the original chainsaw from Doom? I will never understand this.
I'm happy that it has Vulkan support but I'd be much happier if more games would include it.

Hrm, good luck; a well done Blood sequel/revival/reboot etc. would be great!
It's been like 20 years since I played Blood, but I remember mostly being entertained by the weapon choices, the level design doesn't really stick out as particularly strong, etc. I'll try to remember to pick it up on Gog next time it's on sale.
