I've noticed less hackers as of late compared to about a month ago when I last played. It's definitely better in that regard, imo

My garages were scrambled a bit with nothing missing, but I did lose a particularly intense stunt race I was in solely because of the performance hiccups in the newest patch freezing me up a couple times. Overall they have made some seriously good improvements to the game in the past couple months since release. I'm only 60% done with single player and still enjoying it though, besides the crappy stock market bs to make money throughout the game. The number of missions you do with absolutely no reward or payout whatsoever besides story progression is kinda badly thought out and leaves alot to be desired, imo

Beyond that it's just Windows as usual, what's the problem?

The same hysterics we've been hearing about Windows versions going back to XP and maybe before. Remember when XP was going to delete all your MP3s?

Every new Windows versions you get these old crusty open-source fucks coming out of the woodwork to talk about the latest horrible atrocity by Microsoft, the GREAT SATAN of software. Meanwhile people keep upgrading Windows and business as usual keeps truckin along without everyone being rounded into FEMA camps.

QFT. happens every time, it seems

Wow, way to re-brand a successful company for no damn reason whatsoever besides "fitting in with the flock" of tech startups using particularly stale naming conventions.

You don't need to fit in Logitech, you are one of the grandfathers of what you do, a cornerstone in the industry. Changing your name to be more like upstart companies with a press release that reads like it was written by some marketing clown in SF straight out of college.. is maybe not the best option for the company?

At night itís pitch black making torches mandatory. You can see other players carrying them in the distance, the lights in your base of your tribe, or if other people are online. Nights can vary in darkness depending on the moon.

Are people able to up their gamma like most other games and see in the night or did they find a way to circumvent that? I'm not a fan of the uneven playing field in most survival games because of most hacky shit like this people either have to learn to do every time they play or become someone's prey quickly.

Played it during beta but lost interest pretty quick. I remember replacing game assets like the screen noise filter with my own because they were so terribly implemented. That was 2-3 years ago, I'm sure things have changed quite a bit, hopefully for the better but I honestly don't hear many good things about MWO since I stopped playing

Freesync is next.

Variable refresh functionality is in the vesa spec.

AMD's trademark for their support for that functionality is called "freesync" - but it's not actually an AMD specific tech.

If nvidia wanted to fully support all the vesa options, they would have a freesync-like feature too. They simply choose to not support it, and instead make a proprietary solution.

-scheherazade

I think nVidias implementation is well beyond what AMD is offering with freesync. The best example is how it performs when frames go under a pre-defined "sweet spot", with freesync basically not doing anything at all and the resulting image looking the same (tearing) as it would *without* freesync. If you have a rig that can reliably push 40+ FPS in any game with not a single drop below that, then you have nothing to worry about, but most of us are not so fortunate. I'll pay the bit extra for a decent implementation of adaptive refresh, and not having to constantly worry about stepping into some "red zone" under 40fps where my monitor starts acting differently.

Hopefully newer revisions of this standard are actually decent.

I didnt even know there were any physical prototypes. Awesome seeing this finally after a couple decades have passed from the first time a cd addon to the SNES piqued my interest. I would imagine nintendo would have continued to be a dominant player in the console industry if they would have gone through with this. The SNES had a primary limitation of being cartridge based when new mediums could store hundreds of times as much data. This would have coupled the impressive SNES hardware with a much better storage medium, which would have made for a very awesome console.

Well, for a game like this one, the excuse might be "it's an online-only game!"

Not very controversial for an online only game to require you to be online to play, imo. I get the diablo sentiment though, that was simply an act of DRM under the guise of being of some service to players. Glad that whole auction house thing worked out so well for them. If they would have spent 1/10 of the resources burnt on that towards making the game experience better, we might have decent PVP and other things that were promised, but never delivered.

3.25million of perhaps the worst control ever in a PC game.
Hold up now...PC gaming means options. There is nothing wrong with being a PC gamer who uses a controller! Many games work better on controllers (brawlers, 2d platformers, Dark Souls).

So anyway, the controls are fine on PC...if you use a controller...which you should. When we already spend much money on PCs, spending $40 more for a controller isn't a big deal. Anyway, PC isn't about stubbornly using KB/M...it's about having the best of both worlds.

Agreed.

Input devices and the ability to mix and match and build/hack your own easily make PC gaming unique and fun in ways that consoles and other platforms haven't been able to match.

I think he was stating that Arkham Knight was pulled likely because of the huge amounts of refunds they were getting from it. It was a good move on their part, because people who buy a broken game and return it are likely to not order the game again once it's fixed, as they have probably moved on to something new or decided they will just get it on discount further on down the road. Not to mention the fact it's a single player game and many people will just pirate it (maybe even just to see if it runs well on their system finally..) and they won't see *any* profit from it at that point.

VAC at least on Steam servers is based on Steam ID, so refund wouldn't prevent ban.

Throwaway account are created for free, single game bought, then refunded. Ip address isn't important because vpn can be used and it most definitely is happening. Vac ban simply doesn't matter, even if they are caught in that short time window.

Well that seems very easy to avoid but Steam as usual is apparently half-assing everything. Since payment provider listed would definitely not "rotate" ;p

Prepaid cards work on steam just as well as anywhere else.

There is another certain "scam" going on, or perhaps a better way to label it is "gaming the system", but in many multiplayer games, the steam refunds policy is biting players in the ass right now, with cheaters purchasing games for almost exactly 1 hour and fifty minutes, going to wreck shit on servers where they got owned and can't compete properly, and then getting a refund and repeating the process. VAC and the other assorted anti-cheats out there don't catch them generally in this small window of time and I've not heard of anyone being punished for this behavior. This is happening in many steam multiplayer games currently.

Game runs perfectly fine for me on a 980GTX and an old i7 3770k.
I feel sorry for the people who are having issues but I've been enjoying every minute of the game.

Same here. Running everything turned up @ 1080p without any issues. 980GTX on an old Phenom II 970 w/ 16GB of RAM running Win7.

My streak of being a golden unicorn that shits rainbows continues, I haven't had an issue one with the game running 1080p/60-ish (ish only cause it runs average 80) for 21 hours. 980GTX, 5930K, and 16GB RAM...

Maybe it's the 16gb of ram???

Actually from what I'm hearing, and if you watch TotalBiscuits Port Report it may have to do with HDD's. It seems some of it may be an issue stemming from mechanical drives not being able to keep up with streaming the city. I dunno about Ranger or DarkCntry but I do have mine installed on an SSD and as I said I get no stuttering and can speed through the city at full speed in the Batmobile no problem.

Video or I don't believe you. I have your rig, a GTX980 and one of the best SSD's on the market, 16gb -- but windows 8.1 instead of 7. I have everything maxed on 1080p. You? Anyway, wooshing through the city gives stuttering to an extent I simply don't believe hardware is the issue here. It's playable, just not acceptable. Standing on top of a building looking around me gives a solid fps -- it's the streaming this game doesn't handle right. Oh, and the batmobile in general seems to impact performance by just being there somehow.

What do you have your "max pre-rendered frames" set to in nvidia control panel? If you set it to 1 to reduce input lag arkham knight maybe is crapping the bed because it expects more based on consoles? Dunno but maybe its worth a shot trying the default (3) or higher?

This was just posted on the Arkham Knights Announcement page in Steam.

http://steamcommunity.com/games/208650/announcements/detail/145587678167685991

Dear Batman: Arkham Knight PC owners,

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

Thank you to those players who have already given valuable feedback. We are continuously monitoring all threads posted in the Official Batman: Arkham Knight Community and Steam forums, as well as any issues logged with our Customer Support (http://support.wbgames.com/). If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved. If desired, you can request a refund at https://help.steampowered.com (Steam refund policies can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds) or the retail location where you purchased the game.

The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.

And some vids I made if people are interested.

MaxFPS 60 Nvidia on/off comparison

MaxFPS 30 Nvidia on/off comparison

I (literally) could not be more pleased to see the community, as a whole, stand up and say "No, this is not acceptable," and see the publisher and developers cry back, "OK, OK... WE GET IT, WE'RE SORRY!"

I wonder how many refunds it took them to realize they were poisoning the brand?

Which tells me he as absolutely no clue about anyone younger than 40 or the fact that nobody gives a shit how they look when they sit half-naked in front of their high-end gaming altar.. VR or not, doesn't exactly change a damn thing and how you look matters absolutely nothing when you are half-naked because your gaming rig is making the room hot as shit ;p
Half-naked people sitting in front of their "gaming rig" make up an extremely small proportion of the population. If those are the people who are supposed to be driving VR, Spector's point seems even more valid.

Naah bro they're just sitting naked so they can feel the heat lamps they setup for proper sun simulation when they step outside in VR.

Imagine an array with heat lamps and fans and such to simulate sunshine/heat and air movement/wind in VR. A VR setup with war thunder I saw recently in an article made me think of this. They had a mounted fan they would turn on when players were flying in one of the open-cockpit planes. Small touch but adds a good deal of immersion.. but imagine that with a software api to integrate such functions into a simulation game with variable levels automatically adjusted by the game in realtime. So many new interactive experiences will be possible soon, it's really exciting.

How many times do you worry about looking stupid when playing games on your PC? I just don't think that point has much weight to it.

Warren nailed it though with his endorsement of Cuphead as being a standout from E3. I think the game looks fantastic.
