I've just come to the realization that Ubisoft doesn't mean squat to me anymore. Not that I had cared until now... just that I don't remember when it was the last time that Ubi mattered. Ravenshield, perhaps?

I enjoyed Unreal but playing it once was enough. Besides, while it did have some very memorable level design, IMO the combat got stale after a while.

Wrong. Their "proprietary" engine is based on id's Quake III engine.
