I've loved the Pro Evo series for over a decade but the big news this year is that League Mode is missing. This was a great and heavily used feature and has been in place as long as the game has, I think the only explaination is that EA has managed to get the league mode removed in their exclusivity deal for the Premiership. The game has had to use unofficial names for teams, players and stadiums as well as unofficial strips for years now but mods have corrected those quickly every year. This is really disappointing, the purist alternative to Fifa just got neutered...

Edit: No riots I'm afriad but I always wished they tracked the temperament of players. They have stats for everything else! I want to see the possibility of moody players like Rooney or Balotelli getting angry when you are losing and getting themselves carded or sent off for arguing or violent conduct!

I blame the presence of "MMO Questions" in the title for the bad direction this thread took...

I updated that quote, sorry Prez. I was alt-tabbing in and out of the game at the time...

The main thing I see with the skills is that by level 20 characters of a given class will not all be the same, there definitely seems to be scope to make different builds within a class. And you can only respec the last few points you spent so you do need to think ahead and commit yourself in a chosen direction. It's straightforward enough but it does everything well from what I've seen.

So what kind of changes did they make to the skill tree since the beta? The beta tree was kind of boring because most of the upgrades were just like +5% to whatever. Yawn. I hope they made it more interesting since then.

I felt the same thing in the beta. The main thing they added since to combat that is that every skill that gives an active ability gets extra effects that kick in at 5, 10, 15 out of 15 points invested to avoid some of the skills being a one point wonder.

Edit: I screwed up when quoting, that line was quoted from Wowbagger_TIP rather than Prez. Corrected now.

I just didn't care for the art syle and, sadly, T2 looks like more of the same.

Definitely try the demo out. Although I wish it was a little darker the style does bug me less than TL1, I think maybe the camera's a little more zoomed out so you focus on the action and the spacing of players and mobs more than the models previously. The skill system got a bunch of improvements since the beta so I don't know what to expect there so much but what I do know from the beta is that the basic mechanics of the fighting are done fantastically well. The action is very slick and the hits that you land are very punchy and satisfying... I was struck by this several times in the 10 hours I played. The difficulty level seemed well adjusted too, you had to stay on your toes not to die a lot of the time. I'm very much looking forward to Path of Exile too but I expect that Torchlight 2 will be my favourite all round package from the current crop of action RPGs.

Fantastic, I am downloading now. Apart from wishing the graphic style was a little grittier, I loved the beta so I can't wait to jump in properly now. I managed to avoid touching D3 at all so this is basically Diablo Day for me. Allthumbsup

I believe I read somewhere that a unified online magic interface bringing Magic Online and a DOTP-like graphics together was being planned, although that was over a year ago and I haven't seen any announcements or anything yet.

It's worth mentioning that the community has come up with about 30 decks as well so far which are all free. I download those but I also buy all the DLC because variety is good but also I think the game in general is great value particularly at budget price and I want to encourage them to keep updating it.

On my third game of FTL I managed to get and afford a decent second energy weapon quite quickly and that was my best run by far, I got mutual destruction with the final boss. It's already been great value for money but I agree there seems to be a small number of random events. I would hope the support would run a little longer and then hopefully in the same spirit as the kickstarter the game would then be opened to modding, then its trajectory would extend hugely. I suspect people would produce good amounts of events and content, along with the obligatory Star Trek and Star Wars mods of course. Escaping the Empire's fleet with the Death Star schematics would be awesome!

Also, get ready for a deluge of imitators. This kind of light content / controls / processing requirement gaming will spin a fortune on mobile devices for whoever makes the effort...

Now I'm going to have to set up a museum dedicated to the PC gaming excesses of yesteryear, with the prime exhibit being a 32 gig quad core i7 with SSD that is used primarily to play Faster Than Light...

These roguelikes (I think this game stretches that term) are based around the "sport" of pitting yourself against the randomly selected encounters with scarce resources and improvising your way to survival or success with no safety net. The unprotected environment is part of the fun, you could copy the saves around but you're only really cheating yourself out of the fun.

In other news, on my third run (using the default ship) I just got mutual destruction with the rebel flagship! My guys were huddled in the medical bay of the otherwise burning ship while the weapons continued to fire and then everyone just blew up. I can confirm this result does not elicit any kind of recognition of success from the game...

Had a first run through last night, this is a great little game. After a decent run just like all roguelikes it's very stressful once it all starts going tits up and you are desperate to survive! In the right hands, the ability to actually lose produces moments of pure magic, it's amazing that more games don't have the option to take advantage of this...

I kicked in $40 for beta access and full game because of just how much I loved Total Annihilation originally. I'm generally skeptical at throwing in cash in the hope a product eventually gets made but for this game it's an acceptable risk.

I'm not too fussed about a campaign, there's a limited budget and skirmish and multiplayer will be enough for me - they should spend the rest on features / AI / balance / polish etc. Really looking forward to seeing how this shapes up.

Yeah I whitelist here too. It strikes me as a good, honest business - Blue is very good at crediting his references, is very neutral in the style of reporting and covers a lot of material. It seems unfair to deprive the site of ad revenue. Also it boasts a community that frequently goes several posts running without foaming at the mouth! Setting it apart from the majority of the internet...

PPM as a statistic is little more than a curiosty, so in the (admittedly few) videos of tournament games that I've watched, why is there so much artificial boosting of the number of actions? Players regularly click twenty times on the destination for a unit while it is en route, or use hotkeys to alternate between two units and reissue the same orders to each continuously. By all means be lightning fast at issuing orders but don't let one statistic become an obsession...

Woof, growl..... LeChuck!

That bridge simulator game did look like a lot of fun, if it was played with multiple simultaneous teams it would be amazing. You'd want to play with RL friends though, annoying or over serious teammates would ruin it!
