So now Hello Games would need to roll out some sort of authentication key version of the game, and distribute the keys to the people who bought their copy on GOG. (edit: GOG Galaxy platform edition). All for how many customers? Couple of thousand? Hello Games should have offered a way to purchase Steam codes at a sharp discount to people who bought it from GOG.

There's also then the issue of connecting to Steam players. The easiest thing to do is just force everyone to use a single DRM platform for multiplayer, but that invalidates selling on GOG. And then there's whatever under the table promises made to Sony and Microsoft to make a summer deadline.

Also, I don't see anything about Hello Games not honoring the standard refund policy. What I see is GOG offering refunds for all sales, even those at launch day. I'm sure a lot of people are going to trade in for $60 for a game they've already played to death. I own a lot of games I'd love to get full-price trade-in value for because they've either not aged well or I've got all the fun out of them I can. GOG is probably banking on the bulk of the refunds being those who bought it for NEXT multiplayer, who would fall under the standard 30-day policy anyway. The cost of any other refunds to them will likely be written off in taxes and internally marked as a marketing expenditure.

Two years to add the co-op that was implied as a launch feature. Better late than never. I'll grab this next sale if the re-reviews are good.

Gee, Korporations are willing to pay handsomely for accurate data about us, but they go to great lenghts to hide data about them. What does that tell you?

Transparency is bad for stock value and general investor trickery. If things like Steam sales were fully public then shareholders would call out the bullshit in the quarterly briefing and sell sell sell.

It's also worth pointing out that Derior, the person she went off on, is actually a part of their community program and has an in-game vendor named after him. He's an unpaid promoter for GW2, like so many dozens of streamers. She didn't just go off on some "rando asshat" as she likes to label everyone she disagrees with. It looks extremely unprofessional to go off on a member of your marketing team (unofficial and unpaid or not) in public.

ArenaNet had no problem with her publicly celebrating TotalBiscuit's death on Twitter. The exchange actually started in an AMA on Reddit which probably has more to do with it than her actually being a terrible person. You can be toxic as long as your stuff doesn't turn into a PR disaster on the front page of Reddit.

This shouldn't affect Battletech. They had a separate dismissal a month or so ago. No telling what the results of that will be

It was dismissed because the mech art assets are all licensed from PGI. Whether or not PGI may use the Macross/Robotech designs will trickle down to Battletech. The wording of this press release is very nebulous to me. Is "classic" the Macross destroids, or all the in-house original designs of FASA?

I've seen all I think I need to see of the gameplay. I'm interested in three answers: Will there be player-run servers? Will there be a server browser? Will there be forced auto-balance? Even after removing the loot box stuff, Battlefront 2 is a crap show without those three things.

Wargaming home offices really can't stand non-Russians. Only reason they do any international business is their greed is stronger than their patriotic xenophobia - Russians are dirt poor, Americans and Europeans spend way more.

I guess EA now has a competitor for buying out, ruining and shutting down good developers.

I know people associate length with value, but I find most of those old shooters a little too long today. Pacing is an issue, they kind of drag on. Plus we've all got more limited time as we age.

The pacing was bad even in its day. I never did finish it. It was a very cool and very pretty game in its day but eh... the multiplayer and bots though? That started some things for me.

Korea, Vietnam, or 2142/another sci-fi setting would be my guess. An intergalactic battlefield where Operations span multiple planets. Battlefield: Rico's Roughnecks. Jetpacks and nuke grenades. Awww shit now I got my expectations too high. I'll have to lick some windows before the reveal so I can feel excited...

Same thing as John Romero. He spoke purely from his ego and the PC Elite really can't stand hubris paired with mediocre products.

If they don't have p2w lootboxes and handle content like Battlefront 2 (not gating it behind DLC), I'll probably grab it.

Some people are whining about performance on steam, but I'm willing to bet they have shitty pcs.

Installed on an SSD, 12GB system ram, 3.2GHz i5, GeForce 1060. The ship-board campaign menus are unresponsive and the loading times are long. Seems to be a bit of a memory leak. This is stuff that wasn't even part of the backer beta, so hopefully it just needs to be fixed with some patches.

Aside from the sluggish performance out of combat, the campaign is a blast. It looks to be very open ended so far, like GTA5 or Skyrim. For anyone picking up the game I DO recommend taking the time to talk to the crew for tutorials, especially for managing mechwarriors. There is stuff not obvious when just diving in but it's very well explained in the tuts.

Anybody on Blues like this game at all? I'm tempted to try it, but it's like 80 gigs to download, so I'd need to clear out some stuff first.

Wildlands shines in co-op. It's very bare-bones for single player but when you get a group of your buds together it's good fun.
