This guy has been doing a very solid job at keeping the community in the loop. I wonder if he always felt this way or if he was just told to sit down and shut up during development.
I agree that reading his post makes me have ever so slightly more hope that D3 can be great. Just when I get angry at Blizzard and swear I'll never play D3 again, they offer just a tidbit to make me think things might be better.

So either they really care but were (are?) incompetent or they're like abusive spouses who we just keep coming back to...

In the end I think my love for D1 and D2 is what compels me to keep caring about D3...even though Path of Exile is obviously more worthy of my attention. But there's time for both I suppose.

This just goes to show the immense culture war in America. Did you know the Communists plotted to press the Homosexual agenda in order to destroy the family unit and thereby destroy America? I am NOT KIDDING. If you want to watch a free documentary on it, no matter how you feel, see:

It is sure to make you really concerned for America, not matter what side you take. Enjoy, comrades!

He seems sincere even if D3 was incredibly boring and a massive failure regarding loot, re-playability, and story. I had real fun the first playthrough, apart from the idiotic story.

So I think Jay did a good job with the combat system itself, but Inferno mode literally ruined the play experience. In the end, D3 is dead to me. I've tried playing it again, but it is sheer misery. Slow move speed, garbage drops, and a deep sense of pointlessness.

Contrast with D2, which I enjoy replaying every few years. Or even Borderlands 2 which after over a hundred hours is still great fun (despite its loot drops being low as well).

I usually just alt-tab out to a real browser, except for games that don't take well to alt-tabbing (Skyrim is my main offender).
I HIGHLY recommend you use SBW (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4).

Not only does it allow for perfect alt-tabbing, but it actually increases frame rate and causes faster loading times for most people.

Only downside really is it takes 10 seconds by default to go borderless window.

Anyway, about Steam guides in overlay, this should be OPTIONAL. See guides in overlay is VERY annoying, since often they have spoilers in their names! Do not want for games I've barely played.

TXAA is COMPLETELY AWESOME. This is why I love nVidia. They keep coming up with great new tech, both software and hardware. The shimmer effect has bugged me for ages, and TXAA goes a long ways in eliminating it.

Maybe the world is ending tomorrow, but technology sure is getting better and better!

You probably should educate yourself about what "censorship" and "fascism" really means before using such difficult concepts in a public discussion.

I'll let Wikipedia explain the terms:

"Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body."

"Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism. Fascists seek to unify their nation based upon suprapersonal connections of ancestry and culture through a totalitarian state that seeks the mass mobilization of the national community through discipline, indoctrination, and physical training."

The German government seeks to shape the thinking of their nation by censoring violent games and other media. That's getting dangerously close to fascism in my opinion. But you are welcome to embrace the loving arms of German thought police if you like.

Just to make things clear:

Nobody forces a developer/publisher to censor their games to get a under 18 release in Germany.

You sound like a German politician. German law gives two options basically: censor your game and it can be sold in public or don't censor it and you have to go through crazy hoops to sell the game.

So yes, the German government is forcing behavior through economic power, which is censorship. Why do you think BL2 was censored? Because not doing so would mean virtually no sales in Germany.

I recommend you NOT try to defend censorship. It is evil in all forms.

I respect them for not censoring their game just to comply with Fascist laws. This is in stark contrast to Gearbox who claimed Borderlands 2 was uncut, but in fact they removed head decaps and other effects in order to comply with German (and other) law. Then Gearbox had the nerve to lie to us and say, "Oh, no, we cut nothing..." which was technically true but obviously false in spirit.

Anyway, good for you Techland! We should support companies that don't give in to censorship, IMO.

and all of this cause CoD fans are so rabid to get XP on this invisible treadmill. they take away the basic ability to actually select the gun i want to use, which i have already unlocked, during the match. they take this ability away and then dangle it like candy at the end of a long stick above the players head: "well you want up to 10 custom slots? you just have to grind level 1-60 over and over and over and over 10 times, not too much to ask right? just make sure you sink absolutely all of your time into it because there will be another half assed sequel to buy next november so you can just repeat the process all over again"
You make a point. Although Black Ops does have the "League" mode where you instantly get everything unlocked which is quite a nice change. On PC there's very few League players, but it is nice to be able to just play the game and not worry about unlocks and challenges.

And the pick 10 class system is a great creative way to make classes. But obviously CoD is still CoD, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

But I agree about Nuketown. I hated that map in BLOPS1.

Dear Gearbox, please add back head decaps since you seem to have plenty of time on your hands. But nice vid anyway...

(In case you didn't know, BL2 censored itself so it could have an "uncut" worldwide release...and then claimed it was "uncut" without mentioning the self-censoring...and a lot of us find that pretty uncool.)

D3 is like a comedy of errors. It is very clear Blizzard made a BIG mistake when Blizzard North went away. Torchlight 2 is going to blow D3 out of the water, which is kind of sad since TL2 took 1/2 the development time.

Anyway, Runic has my deep appreciation and respect. Blizzard has...nothing.

Too litte, too late.

  • They need to immediately raise the level cap to 99.
  • Then re-level all lvl 61, 62, and 63 items to span over lvl 61-99.
  • Then they need to return to permanent skill choices to give a reason to build specialty characters.
  • Plus they need to allow stat point distribution and make stats about 10 times more important, so as to make gear not matter as much.
  • Oh, and making gear not be totally boring might help...

Yeah, level 60 gets reached so quickly. How Blizzard didn't realize this would ruin the end-game is beyond me. There's a reason why in D2 it took AGES to reach level 99 and why in Torchlight it takes AGES to reach level 100.

My solution is simple: increase level cap! And scale monsters and loot accordingly! That's pretty much the only way to have a proper end-game. As it is now, you hit 60 and can instantly equip the best items. Worst design evar?! Yes.

Blah this isn't a remake...lame. Besides FF7 was revolutionary for its time, but it actually isn't so great compared to other games. Revolutionary doesn't equal excellent. Although it does have insanely awesome music...but I would play a real remake if they actually, you know, REMADE the game to use 1080p art assets, non-blocky models, modern conveniences, ect...

FF7 is a game you have cherished memories about...but replaying it isn't a good plan since it just doesn't hold up. Not when there's games like FFXII, Xenoblade, and so on out there.

TOTAL FAIL. TES games cannot transfer to MMOs. I doubt the real Elder Scrolls designers like Todd Howard are excited about their world being dragged through the muddy MMO sewer system.
