I would laugh forever if Tim Cook donated the Patriots a bunch of iPads. I don't care what tablets people use, but watching the Patriots stick it to Goodell and the league if only in passive-aggressive ways is still highly amusing to me.

I am no Patriots fan, but fuck I hate what Goodell and a number of the more powerful owners are doing to the league.

snipped for space

I think if I tried to eat one of those I'd probably end up in the ER. It does sound delicious but I don't think my gut would ever forgive me.

I guess I'll just stick to a glass of freshly squeezed hobbit juice. Tasty and wholesome!

Corned Hobbit is always allowable as a substitute meat. Dropping the coleslaw in favor of brined elven ears will reduce calories and your likelihood of acid reflux as well.

A swig of Pepto (or whatever brand...just use a liquid and not a tablet or capsule) and than another swig of something to clear your it before eating the other half. Everybody is different but it works for me. I do it so that I can keep eating my favorite sandwich, a type of Reuben, without side effects that night or the next day.

*My Reuben*
Corned Beef
Melted Mozzarella
Chipotle Mayo
Toasted Rye

with a pint of Guinness of course.

This is interesting, but at least it's optional(for the moment).

The whole point of was to be DRM free. People associate DRM free with, strangely enough, sharing.

I wonder what percentage of gog accounts are actively shared? Probably a fairly high amount, CD ProjektRED.

I see what you mean but there is nothing about this that prevents sharing. There isn't a device limit so at worst it makes sharing a process that the sharer has to be involved in for 1 or 2 extra steps that take a grand total of 30 seconds before the sharee can be ready to roll.

If anything, all this does is make sure you are sharing with whom you mean to be sharing.

News Comments > New WoW Game Director
11. Re: New WoW Game Director Oct 14, 2016, 12:39 Jivaro
If there is one thing I am not worried about, it's Blizzard. I think they have proven by now that they are pretty good at putting the right people in the right jobs at the right time the overwhelming vast majority of the time. (Jay Wilson's time on D3 being the only obvious "big" error I would point to) Five to 10 years from now I think we will be looking at Blizzard much the same way we look at them now...however that individual perspective looks for each of us.

As for MMOs, I don't believe they are going anywhere soon on any continent. They will change in various ways though. I see sports games becoming MMO type services that you subscribe too rather than buying a new game every year. Probably the same with fighting games. Both genres have examples of AAA publishers actually trying to do those things and I think they will continue to push that way. They like digital distribution and in-game stores and they dislike disc production and one-time fees..MMOs were gaming's logical virtual first step and now they have to fine tune the experience to fit all the genres.

One positive side effect has been the increasing use of "role playing" in all of the genres. People like having control over character development feeling like they have choices that matter in all games. Its all smoke and mirrors when it comes to choices largely, but the RPG-Lite experience is creeping into every genre and I point at MMOs as the reason.

*wanders off..continuing to think out loud with coffee in hand...*

7. Re: Diablo III Season 8 Details Oct 13, 2016, 09:09 Jivaro
I don't mind the seasons, some folks like them and that's fine, but if they want me to put any more time into this game though they will need some new content at the very least and a new class would be helpful as well.

They did a decent job at fixing most of my hangups with this game with the release of the first expansion and the big patch in April (I think it was) was good too...I hope it wasn't so they could just let it sit for another decade after one expansion like it's predecessor. Incremental balancing patches and seasons are fine, but there is too much other stuff to play to keep playing the same game over and over without something new and different to motivate a player. Particularly in single player.

Adding some costume flair items that are mainly just PR material for your other games doesn't count Blizzard!

News Comments > Gone Gold - Skyrim Special Edition
31. Re: Gone Gold - Skyrim Special Edition Oct 11, 2016, 12:57 Jivaro
I see some folks talking about the new version possibly borking mods...

My sort of informed opinion on this is this: Start with a clean install of the Special Edition and boot it up before adding any texture replacement mods. See how it looks, make your decisions from there.

I am fairly certain that mods that replace the textures of vanilla Skyrim will either need to be updated or they will be largely ineffectual. There are some mods that replace vanilla stuff though that will still be better than the Special Edition. If you are unsure go to the Nexus/Workshop/Wherever and read the notes. The author or top commenter probably already answered the question for you.

Lastly, if you have 600 hours into a game, even if it's completely made up of modding got your money's worth and you loved it.

No "game breaking" bugs for me as of yet, I guess your odd is my lucky?

That first one you quoted talks of the expansion pack, which I have not yet installed or played so I can't speak to that specifically. Other than that, I apologize for not having any problems with my game...I guess.

Blue, in the Mets' defense it is an even year. Who the hell wants to play the Giants in the playoffs in an even year..let alone face Mad Bum in October, in the playoffs, and in an even year?

But seriously, it was a well played game beginning to end. The Mets were decimated this year by injuries and the Giants didn't have to go to their pen. Now we see if the this Giants team of mine, a team that has been horrible since the all-star break, can keep it going. As a fan of the team I want to be able to say "yeah, they got it back on track!", but momentum is a fickle friend in baseball. The Cubs look like a hell of a mountain to climb. Good management, good hitting, good pitching....the Cubs will be extremely tough.

I am trying to find a way to be mad about this because it reads like something I should be mad about.

I am not mad though. I mean, I own the collector's edition and play the game but I have had nearly zero problems. (one corrupted save game that cost me nearly zero time and has not happened since) Maybe people who play more multiplayer or make their own stuff for the game have issues that still need to be addressed, but I got nothing.

I wouldn't encourage this to be regular practice among the big publishers but in this particular situation I am just not seeing an issue...and I am a huge fanboy of the games. I buy them on title alone and that is because I have enjoyed every entry in the Heroes line. (3 was my favorite, but I liked them all) The M&M line on the other hand, those I have to spend some time researching before I buy them. A few of them have really sucked balls.

as someone who hates playing console games unless I have to...

I played hundreds of hours of Destiny on my PS4. It has extremely well polished game mechanics so everything feels good.

What is lacked, was any sensible content that wasn't a massive grind to upgrade weapons/armor.I quit at Crota raids after I got all the items I wanted and never went back. I hear the new expansions are good but it really was a huge grind fest.

I didn't make it to the raids, but I enjoyed my time with the game. I just couldn't get myself to invest time and money into a shooter on console. I have moaned here before about my challenges with gamepads and FPS I won't do it again. That being said, sign me up for a Destiny game on PC, 1 re-made or a sequel. I would be all over it.

note: I am aware that, at one time at least, you could use a mouse and keyboard on PS4 in Destiny despite the obvious advantage in PVP situations. I didn't do it because I viewed it as cheating...which isn't really fun.

People are going to give up their steering wheels kicking and screaming but the roads, particularly in urban and metropolitan areas, would be safer if we all used robot cars.

Humans, as a species, can't drive for shit. Too selfish, too self-absorbed, and too aggressive. The last 20+ years or so of obscene traffic in our major cities has basically provided all the evidence we will ever need to factually state that robot cars would save lives.

Unfortunately humans, as a species, have another detrimental characteristic. We don't actually place much value on facts that don't either maintain our comfortable status quo or benefit us directly and immediately.

The robot car is the invention that could save thousands of lives annually but we will be so slow to adopt them that I suspect it will be decades before the mainstream population accepts them.

Folks in rural areas are a different thing. I can understand why Bubba Joe in a town of 1000 people in western Montana doesn't have a use for the tech and doesn't want anything to do with it. The lack of traffic, the amount of dirt roads..etc etc...that makes sense to me.

Square Enix should just go full Capcom and start calling their Tomb Raider re-releases "Super" or "Ultra...or both.

"Ultra Super Rise of the Tomb Raider Featuring Lara Croft: The 20 Year Anniversary Collector's Edition"

I missed my calling in marketing right?
