Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Shadow of Revan and Knights of the Fallen Empire is the same for everyone.

Are those three expansions good? Like, comparable to KotOR, story wise?

In my opinion, there are all entertaining. Hutt Cartel isn't as good as Shadow of Revan, and neither of them can compare to Knights of the Fallen....if I was going to put an order to their quality. As for comparing them to the original KotOR, that's apples and oranges. I have a feeling that most people would say KotOR is better than anything SWTOR has done. I disagree but I would be an idiot to try to pretend like I am not in the minority. KotOR had the advantage of being first and being a single player only game. SWTOR does a great job of filling those shoes, IMO, but as I said...most disagree.

Is this worth trying out? New expansions are always a great time to jump in, because at that point you aren't way behind everyone who has been playing for years, especially if you're playing a brand new class.

If you like action based combat instead of the typical tab-select based combat, the game might hold some entertainment for you. They have taken a lot of the grinding out of the game, the graphics are pretty nice for a MMO, and the variety of classes is nice. That being said, the last 4 classes are race and gender locked, two of them requiring you to play the one race that looks like a bunch of 7 year old girls. (I am not judging, just not my thing) While there is a great difference in the play style of most of the classes, the content itself is the same regardless of class. (Except for one that starts off at lvl 50 or something, but after you play the prologue you join everyone else...so not really all that different) The community is shrinking as Black Desert and Blade and Soul took a huge chunk of the player base. You will need a guild to get anything done after level 40 or so. Don't be surprised if the members of any guild you join seem to all be under the age of 20 or so. Just like most games that go F2P, the average age of the player base has dropped...making guilds less stable. I have nothing against the youth of today, but young people have the attention span of a fruit fly. I know I did at that age.

Don't get me wrong, I put a lot of time into this game and very much looked forward to its initial release. There is no way I can say I didn't get my moneys worth out of it. It's just changed a lot since it went F2P and I think it's fair to say that while there is a fair amount of fun to be had for a new player, this game doesn't have the same long term prospects that you might expect for a game that has been around as long as this one has.

Anything past level 50 and the original class stories does not have any class specific content, however. Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Shadow of Revan and Knights of the Fallen Empire is the same for everyone.

Generally true, although depending on decisions you have made through out the class based story line some things can be different from player to player. Particularly with regards to companion relationships and "light vs dark" stuff. Any example I can think of is pretty inconsequential to the larger plot of any of the post lvl 50 expansion story lines though. Hell, there are some points where being Empire or Republic doesn't even make that much of a difference, let alone your class. Particularly in Knights of the Fallen.

Number 4 was my personal favorite in the series so far, but I have enjoyed each entry very much. I have gotten my moneys worth out of it every single release and there just aren't many franchises I can say that about. I will obviously watch the preview trailers etc as we get closer to release, but I am having a really hard time imagining myself being in a position where I wouldn't be buying this game in the first week of release...if not on the first day.

I'm 3 chapters from the end of Uncharted. Then it's U4, and then back to U2 and 3...

Nice. Got my CE at work and rushed home to play.

Got my CE tonight, but thanks to the Overwatch and Paragon betas I am just finishing up Uncharted: Golden Abyss on Vita perhaps tonight...than I am going to play through #3 before I can start #4. I am seriously excited though..the first two games, and the Vita game, were some of the best action/adventure gaming I have ever played.

If you don't think you currently have the people to do the games better than you could with contracted business partners, there simply is no sense in doing it yourself. Particularly when you have the kind of pull Disney has, where you can basically keep quite a bit of oversight and "the final say" on any project. It isn't like Disney is going to have to compromise on much, companies are going to be banging down their door with various pitches for various games.

Besides, with their money, if they find a particular partner that they really like they can just buy them and *boom* instant gaming division. It isn't that far fetched to imagine Electronic Arts becoming part of the Disney/ABC conglomerate. (for example)

I ran with a group that wanted to do the all Bastion thing too. When the other team was surprised we did well but, just like with all of the characters, there are ways to counter Bastion and we started rotating through what we would switch too. Soldier 76, Reinhardt, and Widowmaker were the ones we used mostly. The first person to die would pick the character everybody would play next. It was fun for the 4 or 5 games that we did it, and we even managed to win those games.

Pretty fun beta all in all.

Another dumbass analysis. Name one multiplayer FPS from the 90s that had melee tanks with AOE shields, Pudge hooks, time rewinds, ultimates etc. If Suppa was talking about cars he'd think he's seen it all after the invention of the model T.

There was all sorts of crazy shit in the mod community if you ever played anything besides bog standard games you'd know that. You come off as another retard. Overwatch is the ultimate newbie game. Everything you mentioned makes it sound cool but doesn't mean shit because the game is so console-ized. AKA 1 weapon carry limits, infinite ammo, instant kill ultimates. That screams "newbie game" in a nutshell.

Your comparison is not an apt one, what about overwatch is new in terms of fps games? Not anything. No level editors, forced online matchmaking, drm, oh and a full price tag. It screams that the people that love it are part of the retard set. If overwatch was the 2nd coming it'd be able to be modded and not just another tf2+ moba clone hybrid. I swear the love for moba's/always online/f2p has just gotten out of control. You are not part of my generation, or if you were you were part of the stupid half feeding mmo scamware of the 90's that lead to drm/steam and having our rights taken away as gamers.

20 years from 1995 gaming has gone backwards in time, locking down everything on the other side of the internet and trying to turn games into broadcast tv with no level editors, buying skins for a game you'd never own and a game totally controlled to drip feed content to retarded mouthbreathers like you.

You forgot to finish with "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

First MOBA I have found to be fun...which either means its a fantastic MOBA or it's a crap MOBA since I obviously wouldn't be an authority on the genre given that I don't play them very often.

I'll check it out tonight when I get home from work.
I have the beta installed but didn't really screw around with custom games, only did a match vs Ai and online against human players.

Please keep us posted - if it has full bot support, I might check it out.

Thanks!

I just logged in and checked and you do not get xp for custom games, full of bots or full of humans. You only get xp for:

1) "Play vs AI" which a team full of random humans against a bot team of either easy, medium, of high skill bots.
2) The "weekly brawl" mode, which is a humans against humans match featuring various rule changes. (for example, today's rule is that every time you respawn you are a different hero)
3) Quick Play, which is what most would call "normal mode". Humans vs humans, normal rules and modes.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of random online multiplayer, just in general. I like MMOs that allow for single player leveling and foster strong guild populations where I get to pick who I have my online experience with. I like shooters that allow me to pick who I am playing with. Needless to say, the online gaming revolution has left me more than a bit disappointed. All of that said, "Play vs AI" has been a blast for me as I learn the various ins and outs of the game and the rather large variety of characters. Long term, I will either get bored of the game or I will take what I have learned and go play against teams of people....but in the meantime I feel like even in the beta I am getting my moneys worth out of the Play vs AI mode.

Keep in mind, I am of the opinion that if I play a 50-60 dollar game for a couple hours a day, on and off, for a week or two....I got my moneys worth out of it. I love games like Skyrim where 300+ hours is considered a minimum, but video games are one of the few forms of entertainment I enjoy where 50-60 bucks will keep me occupied for longer than one evening. That's kind of how I view things just in general with this hobby, so if you have a different approach keep that in mind when I say things like "I got my moneys worth". With this particular game, I find myself liking it much more than I thought I would given my distaste for most modern shooters. Same goes for Paragon, a game from a genre that I historically dislike greatly. Sometimes video games just click with a person and it can be hard to put a finger on why that is.

34 gigs is pretty standard for the AAA games that I have purchased over the last year or two. I hadn't really given it much thought because I don't have an enforced cap, but I guess that would suck for some folks. That's too bad that you have to factor that into the decision to purchase a game, particularly since the size of the download won't necessarily have anything to do with the quality of the game.

For me, Battlefront is fun with what it has....unfortunately it is what it doesn't have that makes it such a disappointment. It looks pretty, I like the gameplay feel, etc. The fact that it doesn't have a true single player campaign of any kind and the lack of any kind of space combat just stands out like a horse in an office building.

Maybe with a Battlefield game you can get away with leaving certain things out but if you are going to put the name Battlefront on the title and use the Star Wars franchise...I think you need to give the fans more of what they want if you expect them to be happy with the final product.

Utah, Florida, and New Jersey....if crazy is going to happen, it happens in one of those states first. Texas gets an honorable mention. New York and California are in a special category called "harmless crazy". Nude uni-cyclists downtown just aren't the same kind of crazy.

I am pretty sure that the current version of the law was passed in 2011, which is also the first year the theater was fined for violating the law. So no..they can't blame it on being an old law. It really does seem that Utah doesn't have a way to ban the movie so they are going to find a way to censor it by using some ridiculous alcohol law that I am not really convinced was written with this type of thing in mind.

I hope the place wins their challenge, but honestly, I don't think they will. I am not a lawyer but it seems well within a state's right to enforce this type of law, even if it is ridiculous. Their best hope seems to be going after that vagueness thing. After a quick scan I can confirm that the "Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control Act" is incredibly vague for such a huge document. Usually when I am reading a proposed law or ordnance before an election or vote I start skimming because the details are heavy, making it hard to keep some things straight and causing the document to bloat. In this case I started skimming because there are whole lot of really vague and very generalized sentences that bloat this document to a size that is really unnecessary given it's actual content. I guess that makes it perfect when it comes to agenda based enforcement since there is so much that is open to interpretation.

News Comments > Diablo III Season Six Begins
8. Re: Diablo III Season Six Begins May 1, 2016, 12:26 Jivaro

According to the launch week article in Gamespot, Blizzard said they sold 2.7 million copies of RoS in the first week. That, at the time, was 20% of the user base. This was all back in April 2014. They are up to over 30 million owners of Diablo 3 now, which means the user base has doubled in the last 2 years. I highly doubt they doubled the user base and didn't sell a single copy of the expansion in the last two years, which is what it would take for RoS to only be owned by 10% of the user base. In fact, I would bet that nearly all of the sales from 20 million to 30 million included the expansion either in the "Ultimate Evil Edition" for consoles or separately on PC.

When a game nearly doubles the sales of it's predecessor (Diablo 2 and it's expansion sold a little over 17 million across all platforms) and it's made by a company with a history of multiple expansions across multiple franchises...I think it's completely realistic to not only hope for but expect at least a 2nd expansion. If not more.

The fact is that the expansion saved the game. Sure, some people had already washed their hands of it, and that is fair enough. The truth however is that RoS dug Blizzard out of a huge hole with the fans. The longevity of the game is thanks to the expansion. That longevity has made it possible for the game to be introduced to a whole new generation of fans who have many more games and platforms competing for their attention than either of the first two games had to worry about. Beyond that, they made a ton of money doing it. To me, it's not IF there will be another expansion, it's WHEN. Why not make one when you have 30 million potential customers? It's a busy year for nearly every franchise they have and they are releasing a new franchise soon. I am not surprised we haven't heard anything yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we hear something after Legion launches.

Mind you, I am not saying you have to like the game or that they didn't fuck up the initial release or anything along those lines. I am just saying, this is the reality. The game and it's expansion are a huge success by any sales based measure and the entire mood and attitude among the community has completely flipped since the release of the expansion. "Releasing" Jay Wilson from the Diablo 3 team probably didn't hurt either. From a business perspective, I am not sure why you wouldn't release another expansion. I mean, it doesn't just help the D3 business. It has the potential to grow the Heroes of the Storm business as well right? The current generation of consoles have at least another 3-5 years in them and there was over a decade between D2 and D3...so D4 isn't coming anytime soon. You could argue that the cost effective way to maintain the momentum is to keep the expansions coming, WoW style, for the foreseeable future.
