I am pretty sure there aren't a ton of console fighter game fans here but I do know there are a few. For that reason I bring you my short but sweet "review" of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.

It's good but it's not Day 1 full price good unless you are a hardcore fan of this particular franchise. The art style has, as is often the case these days, been somewhat divisive among long time fans of the franchise. I personally like it. I can't quite put my finger on it but they have succeeded in making it obvious which characters are Capcom and which are Marvel without making it look like two completely different art studios made the game. The backgrounds are fairly blah compared to the interactivity of the Injustice franchise (for example) but they do have some interesting easter eggs, particularly for Marvel fans. The Marvel "lore" used in this game seems to be loosely based on the post Civil War Marvel Universe of the comics. Exhibit A: Ultron is referred to as a creation of Hank Pym. Not sure it matters, but there you have it. The Capcom universe is a mess of course since they don't benefit from the same continuity from franchise to franchise necessarily. As for gameplay mechanics, this game is very timing oriented despite a simplified control system. The controls themselves are easy for casual users to pick up and play, but the ability to use the controls at just the right time can be the difference between deflection and reflection (for example) and while that won't make any real difference in story mode it will be the only reason you survive playing against real people.

The Collectors Edition was 200 bucks this time around. I am not really sure many people would say it was worth it. Four character statues of good quality and a battery powered display case with all six infinity gems lit up accompany the standard digital assortment of skins and a theme. I am a sucker for the statues but the Infinity Stones look cheap. They look like someone cut those cheap plastic Easter eggs in half and put leds under them. Seriously. Being a cosplayer I am more likely to dissect the case and put the stones in a handmade Infinity Gauntlet after touching them up a bit myself as opposed to adding the stones and their case to my mancave display shelf.

I haven't finished any of the game modes or tried the game with an arcade stick so that is all I got for now.

Some old (not all) gamers have a hard time understanding the attraction to new genres and games. Shocking I tell you. If only there were other entertainment media(s) where we could see a similar thing take place.

edit: typos

Hey, is anyone making 'I was there for the Suppa7 Meltdown 2017' t-shirts? Because I want like 3 of those bad boys...

=-Rigs-=

I am negotiating with Valve to see if they will let me stamp their logo on the back. Also, the shirt maker folks say I can get velcro collars and sleeves to sell as addon-ons. If you pre-purchase you get an actual tag in the collar instead of just a printed tag on the inside of the shirt.

I keep thinking Activision is going to have to up their game with the COD franchise and yet they don't really and they still sell it like they were selling water in the Sahara. All these other shooters out there, from Destiny to Overwatch to whatever and COD still sells with minimal changes compared to the sometimes very drastic changes that a series like Battlefield makes from year to year.

I mean, if it sells I guess Activision is smart for doing it this way. I just don't get it from a consumer point of view. I mean, even the zombies are derivative.

1) I agree with most of his points...

2) ...but deleting his account was unnecessary and likely ineffective. He could just as easily just stop buying games from Steam and accomplish the same thing. The money he has already spent is gone. Might as well enjoy what he has.

3) We don't know that Valve doesn't report these groups or people to the FBI. For all we know the FBI lets them exist to track organizations and gather info. Gateway Computers broke a pedophile ring that way. An employee was running websites that sold child porn and even facilitated human trafficking. The FBI wanted this guy, but they wanted as much on him as possible so they could use him to break the whole thing wide open. My understanding is that letting him operate while unknowingly monitored was the difference between busting one guy and saving lives.

4) Now that I have put that positive spin on things I will also say that it's far more likely that Valve is just not interested in doing shit about shit. Never really has been and never really will. I would be beyond shocked if any part of #3 actually turned out to be true in even the smallest way. Valve's complete indifference to pure rubbish that is their forums is legendary at this point.

I have been trying to stick to a few rules regarding game purchases. One of them is to only buy the sequel after I have finished the first game at least once. I really enjoy playing D:OS but I am not quite done with my playthrough. Madden season seriously affects my time spent with other games. One of the (adult) kids is using my PC more than I do right now.

Going but what I have heard and seen so far, I am going to really enjoy the sequel.

I am glad I out 35 bucks into this.

This is the most popcorn worthy drama I have ever gotten out of 35 bucks and from what I can tell the game isn't anywhere near release. Talk about bang for your buck!

I'll have to check to see if I have this on Steam....but I have it on like everything else.

If you haven't ever played this game it's worth the playthrough. It doesn't hold up incredibly well to the test of time graphically speaking of course but everything else about it is just fantastic.

23. Re: Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass for Free Sep 14, 2017, 18:21 Jivaro

Yeah, I mean....it's Dice and it's "Battleblah"...they pretty much set the expectation that it be just as strong as any Battlefield game but with a Star Wars theme. That is the problem though....Star Wars is a story. An epic space opera of a story....but a story. Battlefield is first and foremost a multiplayer team-based FPS. On paper I think it is much easier to blend those concepts successfully then it really is in the real world of game development.

That said, had Battlefront released with a short campaign and say the Death Star DLC as part of the base game I think it wouldn't have been criticized nearly as much. Just my humble opinion as more of Star Wars fan then a online FPS fan.

I find it to be difficult but Sine Mora is a great example of it's genre. Highly recommended, regardless of platform. The EX version on PC is a lot of fun and looks fantastic.

The Humble Store has some rockin deals right now. I am going to wait out the Pillars Exp pass and Tyranny+expansion a bit longer as I have no spare game time atm. IT IS MADDEN SEASON.

No but seriously, I picked up a few indies that have been on my radar for dirt cheap.

It's called the Journey, and they continue the Hunter character in Fifa 18. Apparently they are doing the something similar with Madden this year which is why I'll probably pick up both games (but will wait for the Super Bowl cause they offer a vastly discounted version).

I picked up M18, have yet to try the "Longshot" story mode. I am not sure if there are two different stories in it or if you can just pick from 2 different guys. It has some sort of extension within Ultimate mode as well but I haven't tried that either. I figured after a few franchise seasons I might give it a look. I don't have high expectations but I also don't have anything against them trying something new out every once in awhile either. I rather wish they did it more often given how incremental the changes are from year to year normally.

Never really got into soccer games before and picked up Fifa 17 (love my youngest nephew...cheating little shit, but I AM THE GAMER IN THE FAMILY!), and have to say I'm not very fancy playing it but really have been enjoying the single player story.

really? wow, I wouldn't have even given the single player story a look as the two I have tried in sports games, both being 2K basketball games, were boring as all hell. Now I am curious...have to check that out.
