Is this the patch that makes it worth buying?

Doubt. Just wait for all the DLC and QoL patches if you've already waited this long.

WW84 was stupid and cheesy but wasn't that bad IMO. I'd rather rewatch it than many of the other DC comic book movies.

I like this game but to be honest I stopped playing the main quest until they improve a few things like AI and police response. A few things they won't be able to fix like my detachment to the main character but I guess maybe I just don't like the custom character design as much. They should have brought Geralt or Ciri to the future and made it a fish out of water tale, but that probably would have broken IP or something. Ciri did supposedly visit a similar world though.

Okay I broke down and bought it after this hotfix hit. I'm 6 hours in and yet to experience any bugs beyond clearly hearing a random lady talking outside while I riding in a car with the windows up and some weird NPC popup in the background of a conversation. I'd consider both of these minor, but yeah they broke immersion somewhat.

All told, I'd say this is a fairly polished experience that runs surprisingly well for how good it looks. Sure, there's always room for improvement and I'm sure we'll see a lot of that in the next few weeks and months.

This news almost guarantees expansions and a sequel (hopefully sooner than 8 years from now) where they can build on this game. Compare quality of Witcher 1 to Witcher 3 expansions.

Yeah, a bugfest as expected. Give it a few months, or maybe even a year for the enhanced edition if you're super-patient. This one will have some legs, given that it will get free DLC and expansions down the road. Not a great time to release a big game like this with COVID, but there's not much to be done about it. If they had delayed again there would have been riots in the streets and too many pissed-off investors. Oh well, BG3 is another massive bugfest that people are paying top dollar for (also with the assumption that it will be fixed eventually). It's just the state of the world and industry right now where people are craving at-home entertainment.

I'm sure this game will still be good but this has definitely lost some of the thunder for me given how overhyped it has been for way too long, with too many delays. Definitely waiting for the reviews and expecting something in high 80s score-wise. I'm sure it will be very immersive and "cool" but will the core gameplay actually be fun? I haven't been watching all the videos honestly because I'm sick of the hype so I can't really tell. The Witcher games never had the best combat and were kinda a slog in the inventory management and equipment upgrade realm. Plus it will probably be a bugfest at release, not because the developers are crap (which they aren't), but because of the ambition and complexity of the project.

That said, in the end I'll probably end up buying it and I hope there's eventually a VR mod or update so that we can at least walk around the city in VR.

I really doubt it's only going to be 10% faster but we'll see! Not that I really care since I'm probably skipping this generation. My 2080 ti will be plenty fast at 1440p until I eventually move to 4k in maybe 2 years. And no I didn't spend anywhere close to retail for that card.

FYI this is apparently going to be available on the Windows games subscription service which is currently in beta and $5/month. Most games work fine but some have problems when they're first released. Might be worth trying on there for a month.

If the price isn't fair then it will quickly drop in your region. People shouldn't be pre-ordering anyway given that the port could be buggy.

I never played one of those before and looks like a University degree is required to understand this game.

Civ looks daunting but it's quite easy once you get into it. It's my most played game ever - counting the iterations. From Civ 1 to this, I literally have several thousand hours sunk into it. Civ 5 alone is currently 887 hours on Steam atm. If there was ever a game that I got my money's worth from, it's Civ.

The nice thing about the Civ series is it introduces complexity gradually and most of it can be ignored on easier difficulties anyway. Unlike a Paradox game, for example.

Looking forward to when this goes away, whether that's through a release or they just fold. I'd like to see a great game in the end but wouldn't put any money down on that happening.

Haven't played it, but this will be included in the XBox Game Pass for PC which is currently $5 a month, so I'll be trying it out on release day through that. They actually have a few squad tactics games on there like Mutant Year Zero and Phoenix Point.

Played it on the PS4. Great game but it was a bit of a chore to finish. The story and setting kept me going though.
