Stellaris reminds me a lot of this game, although I have to admit that I probably had more fun playing Sins back in the day. I might have to check out this new update.

When they announced the first game they said it was going to be a trilogy where all three games can link into one combined map.

Link

That being the case, it wouldn't be a good idea to spread them out too much since the engine would just get more and more outdated.

I guess that makes sense if that's their goal.

It seems a bit early for a whole sequel. Hopefully they improve a everything across the board and this isn't solely cash grab. I'm pretty sick of the first one and wouldn't be interested in a sequel where it's just some new races and a new campaign.

I really wish they had skipped this and just jumped into the overdue Volta. I've been sitting on my 3gb GTX580 forever, waiting for a card capable of 4k@60 max settings. This won't be it still. Where the fuck is Volta? >=(

If I were them I'd be sitting on it while milking the more profitable current generation for as long as possible. Anyways, even a Volta card isn't going to be able to achieve 4k@60 max settings for every game since they'll always be games that push the envelope.

It's bad when a 3 year old game like GTA can beat out Ubisoft's new hotness.

To be fair For Honor was probably made with a fraction of the budget. At least I'd hope so since it seems to have pretty limited appeal.

Xactly. Those times have long sailed where shit gets cheaper when new shit comes out. Nowadays old shit simply goes EOL outta stock and is replaced by some new (often times more expensive) shit.

There's still plenty of old shit on eBay...

Well now I've gone and spent $25.

That game is awesome. I highly recommend using an XBox One controller to get the advanced vibration effects. Of course then you'd be spending around $75.

*EDIT* Ugh, Fig, yet another crowdfunding platform. Oh well, I'll still contribute.

Oh well, I won't.

Because
1) There is no reason to do this on Fig instead of Kickstarter which worked just fine for the first game.

2) I'm not willing to give away my CC info to yet another crowdfunding platform for, maybe, a single pledge.

3) Once fully funded the game will be available for purchase at STEAM/GOG anyway.

You are free to do what you want, but for 1) you are arguing that monopolies are good. What if by using Fig instead of Kickstarter they save money and have more to put towards game development?

2) Most companies won't store your CC info unless you specifically ask them to. It may even be illegal to do without your consent. If you're worried about them stealing it, your CC has fraud protection which means you'll be reimbursed for charges that you don't make. I can't count how many companies I've used my credit card through. I watch my statements but haven't ever seen anything suspicious.

3) Yes, as long as it gets funded it will be available on Steam, etc. I guess the old argument is whether you want to give them your money now so they potentially have more money for development or if you want to give them your money later to reward them for a job well-done or so they potentially have more money for their next game. Totally your choice.

It feels like it is an incredibly short game that gets people to feel like the game is longer by making you go through the same area dozens of times.

There is a grinding element. The thing is even when you're killing the same enemies over and over, it's still challenging, and you are being rewarded with something worthwhile for your character progression. Plus you're developing your playing skills. So it's essentially practice, and you're only forced to do it because you need it - either your character is too weak or your skills are. When you and your character are good enough, you can get through an area the first time and don't have to fight the same enemies over and over.

Plus, DS2 seems incredibly long to me. Lots of areas already and I'm not sure how much more there is. I'd actually have preferred it to end already so I can move on to DS3.

Exactly, dafuq is this list that was thoroughly debunked on the first page of this thread?

Also, Xbox One launched at $500, PS4 $400, Nintendo Switch $300. But the third one is "expensive".

Don't know what you guys are smoking, but I don't want any.

Not that Nintendo's target audience are members of PC gaming forum, anyway. This is not the console you're looking for. I wish success to Nintendo and will consider picking this up for my nephews who'd love it.

I watched a youtube series on this game- and calling it a game is a stretch. The guy broke it up into 6, 30 minute parts. We all chatted about it and had a cool little community around the series.

That said, I think I got more out of the game enjoying it that way than actually playing it. I would buy it for $5, but no more... I really don't want to support 3 hour experiences with virtually no gameplay. As good as the story is, Firewatch is shallow and empty and most definitely not worth the price. The only way I think I could buy it is if it had a good VR experience and I actually owned a VR headset.

Sorry, but it's definitely a game. The gameplay consists of finding your way to objectives using the map, deciding what dialogue options your character speaks, and enjoying the story, scenery, sounds, dialogue and atmosphere. Maybe not the most exciting game, but then neither was Myst. It sounds like you enjoyed it in your own way as well and it didn't cost you anything, so I don't know what's to complain about. What is the price exactly? I think I paid less for my lunch today.
(I looked it up and it's currently at $12).

No, I bought it yesterday and $20 is probably the cheapest you're going to find it for a while. I only played for like 30 minutes last night but it seems like a quality game to me so far.

Missed this if it was posted in the last few days...but Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is 67% off on Steam as their midweek madness sale.

That brings it under $20...but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger if the Steam sale is supposedly starting tomorrow

Time I pick this up.

Bought. Definitely worth $20 even for 1/2 - 3/4 of a game (story-wise) based on the negative reviews I've read. Seems unlikely that they'll make another based if the sales of this one are as bad as I assume they are, but who knows.

Not only is it not Disney, it's not Star Wars. Not everything needs to be R rated. It doesn't somehow make the movie better. Granted, I do like the idea of having a SWKOTR movie, but I don't know if the public at large would be interested enough.

BTW, I believe that tomb raider pack "20 Year Celebration" includes all the DLC, season pass, etc.
At least it did when I bought it a month ago. It's not advertised like that, so I was pleasantly surprised and started playing the game. I've been enjoying it.

The new Tomb Raider is great. I got it for free and was kind of bored initially, but the game opens up a lot and has some awesome environments. I read that one of the dev goals was to fill the player with awe with every new environment and I believe they mostly succeeded. All the tombs are optional but unique enough to make you seek them out for the visuals alone. On top of that it's looks great, runs great in DX12 and has a lot of gameplay. I thought I was almost finished with the game and the plot kept expanding. Definitely worth $30.

Any Top 10 without any pre-order nonsense is a happy list in my book. I'm guessing Dishonored 2 will have staying power like DOOM and Fallout 4 as people see that it's being supported and the price drops. I will definitely pick it up in the next few months.

Just finished Rise of the Tomb Raider. I got it for free and thought it was going to be just okay, but it surprised me at every turn. There are so many high quality games these days!
