News Comments > New Paradox CEO
13. Re: New Paradox CEO Feb 13, 2018, 16:47 Leper

Paradox games are pretty niche and everyone knows you pay more for niche. That's not just games - it's any type of tech or hobby. I enjoy Stellaris so I'm willing to shell out $20 every few months just to keep the updates coming (even if I'm not crazy about the content). It works for me and works for them.

And I can guarantee that if most people didn't get sick of other games so quickly then you'd see a steady stream of DLC for them also. Look at Total War: Warhammer for example. But most mainstream gamers just move from one game to the next and probably end up spending more that way. Paradox gamers seem to be more in it for the long-haul.

Can't wait for the 2.0 patch that drastically changes a lot of the systems including making the game even more like one of my favorite games of all time: Sins of a Solar Empire. Looking forward to what they continue doing with this game.

Apparently #9 is 'ELEAGUE 2018 Boston CS:GO Major Championship Mega Bundle' which is no longer for sale. I'm not sure why they can't improve how this list is generated.

12. Re: PUBG Cheaters and Not Cheaters Identified Jan 19, 2018, 17:19 Leper

So what else can they do besides banning them (with the side effect forcing the cheaters to buy another copy of the game if they want to play)? Is there some other way to deter cheating that they aren't doing? Who cares if it makes the company a little extra money if it's only cheaters paying? If you can't ban a cheater for life from your game, then at least they should have to pay more. Yeah, some of that money becomes profit but certainly some of it will get invested back into the game to make it better.

If you enjoy exploring, ACO is awesome. So many beautiful things to stand and gawp at.

Did you play Rise of the Tomb Raider? I haven't played Origins yet, but I wonder how it compares. Lots of beautiful and interesting locales in ROTR.

But hell if I do decide to get back into AC I might as well get into Syndicate first. I heard Unity was shit.

I'm playing Unity now and it's not shit. I guess it had a bunch of technical issues when it first came out and some people still have them, but it's running fine for me. It's a solid AC so far IMO. You're right that Syndicate is probably better, though, so pick it up if you're only going to get one. I'm planning on playing it next, then eventually Origins.

Looking forward to playing this once it's patched up and on sale. Still working on AC:Unity and will likely get Syndicate next.

Happy to see it's getting good reviews. I thought it looked good and I was planning on seeing it unless got terrible reviews. The first movie was kinda slow but I thought it was decent noir detective story set in an awesome setting which made it good overall IMO. I don't watch it that often so I'm not a huge fan, but I am a fan of sci-fi and think we need to get more good sci-fi movies (and less crappy action sci-fi movies).

Wow. More boring Valve news about selling other people's creative works. "Can't wait for the next Valve announcement" - says no one anymore.

Didn't Bethesda say they had the chance to make a GoT game and turned it down because they didn't want the story/IP restrictions and such? Maybe they changed their minds.

Why did they announce so early? Way too early...

Looked into it and apparently they announced early to gauge how excited people were about the idea. Source

I still don't see why people are so enamored with playerunknowns battlegrounds. Just another copycat from a multitude of other similar survival games. When all your opposition has to do is turn off some graphics details to see anyone hiding in the tall grass, you know it is another POS!
1. Game is in Early Access, the devs are aware of this issue plus many others.
2. Players buy games to have fun and players are buying this game.
3. see one

Mhh, World of Tanks has the same issue, play on Ultra low = you can see through walls (because they ain't rendering) and foliage stops displaying entirely after a distance, you think you sit in a bush with your tank? Other player sees you on the open field with no cover.

Broken by design

Ps.: NO idea whether that game will fix this issue, but it ain't a simple thing to fix ^^

Remove the lowest detail option and increase system requirements? Of course then you'd piss off the budget crowd, but even consoles require you to spend a few hundred bucks on hardware every few years. People need to get with the program.

Either make it available on Steam or frankly, STFU Bioware. I am not installing an entire second client just to play your games.

Right, let's force everyone on Steam so that they can jack up their prices once they have a complete monopoly. Despite their decent reputation, Valve is still just another corporation that exists solely to maximize profit for their owners/shareholders.

A year after release, I'm officially addicted to Stellaris. Playing as a Fanatic Purifier who can't engage in diplomacy definitely keeps things challenging. I'd recommend trying it if you already own the game but maybe thought it was too slow/boring.

If the series is really on hold (which seems likely), it's because it's not selling well, not because of the haters.

The game kinda quickly hits a point to where you run out of planets to colonise and points to build more frontier stations or whatever they're called. Then you kinda just sit back and do tech for a veeeeeeeeeeeeery long time, until you can do another small expansion or someone with 10X your fleet strength shows up and says they're going to kill you for no reason.

That's great info, do you think it would be fully fleshed out enough to not hit that stale point with another expansion? Or is this as good as it's going to get? I've been holding off on this purchase knowing what CK2 turned into.

I'm one of the guys who bought all the expansions. Even the ones that add content into the "end game" even though I've never gotten close to that point.

I don't want to give it a bad review b/c I feel there's a strong possibility I'm either playing it wrong, or just plain suck at it.

In the game I'm playing now I've colonised 4 worlds. 1 has to be in it's own section b/c you can only have 3 in your main section. So I don't directly control what that other sections build but I do get half it's resources. This is how the game stops an empire just rushing out and colonising everything.

But that's all the colonizable worlds in my space. There's some others in alien space but no others in the galaxy that I've discovered so far. So I can't build any more. I just sit there, and let my tech slowly get researched, and build my forces up to their cap and attack pirate bases. Eventually I'll get some terraforming and colonising tech that'll let me settle less optimal worlds.

I'm kinda struggling with what I should do next.

The core world limit can be increased through technologies and the Unity system. Also, certain governments and/or traits can increase it beyond 3 as well. Terraforming comes way later and is super-expensive so don't wait on that.

Good to see NieR:Automata on the list. I haven't picked it up yet, but I will eventually. It seems like a quality game that normally wouldn't have been brought to PC, so I'm happy that they are getting their due.
