Alien Rage? Isn't that what they call the fan reaction to Aliens: Colonial Marines?

What we do know is that one of the most prominent examples of a crowdfunding success story just became one of the most prominent examples of why consumers should be wary of backing crowdfunded projects

Oh fucking hell, Engadget. "OMG ONE PROJECT IS HAVING PROBLEMS! QUICK, CANCEL ALL YOUR KICKSTARTERS!!!!"

Let's wait and see what happens to Shadowrun Returns (out in three weeks), Wasteland 2 (out in several months) and Eternity before we start ringing the fucking Calamity Bell, shall we?

I'd also like to point out that, despite it really being the one to set the trend, the DF kickstarter was one of those where you really should go (or should have gone) "Hmmm, there's not a lot of info here. Just a promise that they'll 'do something.'"

In essence, the only difference between the DF kickstarter and the Civitas one was that the DF one had Tim Schaefer behind it, and people trusted him not to run off with their money.

The game will still get into backers' hands. And it'll be approximately 8 times more awesome than they had originally planned with the 400K.

Creston

Exactly. Why is everyone throwing a fit over this? The game will come out, and it will be better for it.

RIP Matheson, he influenced a huge number of writers and filmmakers. I'll always love The Omega Man and the novelization of Stir of Echoes.

I didn't realize he was still alive. I figured he died when they made the Will Smith "I Am Legend" movie. Welcome to Eurf!

I was never a fan of the old Thief games, so I don't really have horse in the race here. I seem to remember everyone shitting all over Deus Ex: HR until it got leaked and people got to check it out, though. Maybe this will be a similar situation?

I wouldn't go that far. But it wasn't as terrible as some people (who never played it) would like to think.

Yeah! The first season was fantastic! So happy they are doing more. (And this from someone who hated all the other TellTale games)

There was something about the Walking Dead game. I couldn't wait to play each episode. I'm not sure why I enjoyed the "game", considering it was all just strung together QTE's and "puzzles", but I'd still say it was a good game.

Speaking of long series that may or may not have lost their way...

I finally finished up Stephen King's Dark Tower (including the new one which happened to coincidentally line up chronologically for me). I wasn't as disappointed with the ending as the internet seems to think I should be. But maybe that's because I had heard ahead of time and so I was prepped for something more terrible than it was.

My favorite part of the series was Lud. I could read a whole series just taking place in Lud I think.

Reading A Canticle for Leibowitz now.

The Dark Tower series lost its way when King got hit by that van. Fearing his own mortality, and the possibility that his greatest work would never be completed, he rush jobbed it and called it a day. I don't mind how it ended, but I was seriously unimpressed with how he handled the confrontation with the Crimson King. After all that build up, it was just silly.

Perhaps PCs will suffer so much because of the game industry's obsession with consoles, that they will in fact be LESS powerful in the future.

The reason D3 is here to stay, is because the game was tailored to the WoWtards, that have nothing to really complain about this game. This is the great divide that has put the stake in the heart for me, (the RMAH is secondary) but the utter disgrace that WoW tarnished the essence of Diablo, is what makes me sad the most.

Has anyone recently watched the Diablo 2 cinematic, or ever seen it? You know, the dark wanderer? Please review it, and see, why Diablo 3 and the Whimsyshire lolipop guild of followers, is an epic slap in the face of all proportions.

Can you tell I despise world of warcraft?

Exactly. Isn't the skill system basically what they did for Wow: Panda Express (not sure...stopped playing WoW way before that xpac came out). Dumbing down a game to the point of consolization, which at the time didn't make sense to me. But I guess it does now with D3 coming out for the PS4.

I wonder if I'm the only one asking this in the gaming world, but, what on earth do people get out of mods that can alter a game to such extent,

I mean, to people enjoy modding so that they can simply press X and have the whole 20 screens of monsters around them just vanish? Perhaps I am misunderstanding modding, and just think of it as a spoiler cheat cartridge.

Runic, I pray you make TL3 actually, I know you have to stay true to the series, so , if perhaps, you can make a dark world, focus on a simpler story, you know, a la Diablo 1 & 2 kind of lore, you can make your next game a worthy $60 title. your soundtrack was epic, featuring our beloved Matt Uelmen, but in no way is that music fitting to your cartoon fest. ugh, can't have it all, there must be some glaring NDA's set in place by Blizzard, to protect their IP, like saying POE cannot have proper fight mechanics, and TL cannot have proper mood setting, but why did Blizzard fudge completely on D3? I do know why though, it was the WoW & SC dev team that made D3 the best they could, and tailored it to the WoW audience,

mistake of the millenium for Diablo property.

I do wish Runic continued success. Sadly though, TL2 didn't hold my interest as I couldn't quite figure out the skill tree sections , and just saved a whole ton of skill points, not having the intuition where they should go... it was just not polished in that respect. Still, always worth $ the 20 dollars.

I've never understood this attitude. I used to have a co-worker who was primarily a console player (other than WoW), and he would associate mod with cheaters. He couldn't understand why I'd want to play something NOT by the developer, and why I wasn't happy with what the developer gave me. Kids...
