I don't know how they fucked up the story so bad in Diablo 3, you don't really need much of a story to do an ARPG. It helps if you do it well but overall just don't do too much and that's exactly what they did wrong. Control is taken away numerous times for pointless cutscenes filled with Saturday morning cartoon villain exposition that is mind numbing. You can skip them but the constant stoppages of play are bizarre and the worst part is that the story itself just doesn't need or warrant them. Chris Metzen should just do the less is more approach to story telling because its worse than fantasy B novels otherwise.
I remember at one point there is literally a cutscene for your character turning a lever. The Emperor shit in Act 2 was absolutely laughable as well. The Act 3 guy whose name escapes me is supposed to be the best general they have and his master plan is showing up to the player in visions and revealing their strategy. Just ugh stuff.

Was it Future Shock ?
I still can't believe some execitive at fox didn't lose his job for the idiot move of canceling Sarah Connor Chronicles for Dollhouse.

Hopefully they can make something better than prior Terminator games. There was one on the PC ages ago that wasn't bad, but the rest...not so good.

Awesome cinematic as usual, but I stopped playing Diablo 3 a long time ago. I got to Belial and just lost interest.
Much rather play Diablo 2 (and still do!). I even like the 2D sprites better than all the 3D stuff in D3. It just has a certain feel to it.

Well I wish someone on the development team would go back and play Diablo II because as good as Diablo II was, Diablo III is that bad. Mind numbingly boring is the best description of III I can think of. The loot drop tables are so borked it is a tragedy. In 100's of hours of gameplay never got one set item or legendary item, NOT one.
Diablo III is so broken I don't think a expansion can fix it.

Wasn't most of Modern Warfare 2 plagiarized? As in, "Hey, that sure is a nice mod you have there...would be a shame if Activision appropriated it and made billions off of it..."
What mod would you think MW2 plagiarized? It's the second in a series, coming a mere 2 years after the first, and its SP gameplay was damn near a carbon copy of the original (MP was not, though.)
So it's weird to single out MW2 and not MW.

Just make System Shock 3 already for christ sake, what they are waiting for. Shodan is still alive and she called me a useless sack of meat and bone!

"Well we like it" isn't a very sound design strategy
It's certainly not the soundest business strategy in the world. But I've always made design choices based on what excites me. I don't know how you can create a game that surprises and challenges players unless you do what you think is most interesting instead of what you think is safest or most accessible.
I'm certainly not suggesting that you're wrong to dislike the look or to be suspicious of the motivations behind it, but at least no one can accuse us of trying to pass off a pig as a princess!

I'm already getting that familiar pang of worry and fright in my guts, just thinking about it. I'm not super hyped, I doubt they could surpass the most frightening game ever made, but even if they get close I'll love the hell out of it.
Now to force myself to finish The Dark Descent. I was last in the prison level and scared out of my wits.
As to the OR, I can see why they don't want to support it. The lawsuits from the relatives of players who died of pure fright are sure to start racking up otherwise.![]()

Looked at the screenshots. Can't imagine playing that for hours. No thanks. Not sure why anyone would hobble their game in such a way and then expect people to play it.
Creston wrote on Aug 8, 2013, 11:34:I don't think that's the case in this particular situation. These guys actually had good stuff to show, and some good ideas. I think they just ran afoul of someone, and cannot comment on it for fear of screwing themselves if it goes to court. Please be rest assured that development is still occurring, albeit unable to be displayed to backers for now.
Riiiiiiiiiight. Smells like a "We took your money and ran" scam.
