The reason why people are up in arms is not the microtransactions themselves but the timing of them, presented during early access while the game has developed damn slowly, with only 2 major content updates. It is fucking tasteless to announce microtransactions while the game is nowhere near completion, with a lot of promised classes, perks, guns and maps still not in the game. Had they announced this after the game was complete then I don't think the furor would be as great, but doing this while the game is still very much incomplete reeks of greediness and sheer stupidity.

Reviews are brutal and on point, game is pretty but ultimately a very shallow mess of a game. Also, being a DICE game, it's reported as being plagued with tons of issues, from not being able to connect to servers to BSODs.

Guess not even all the shills and the subreddit bribes could save this.

Meanwhile, EA has been actively bribing Battlefront reddit mods to censor criticism and allow astrosurfing.

Before Sensible Soccer there was Kick Off, so Dino Dini is the real grandfather. Kick Off started the storm for football games, which produced Sensible Soccer years after. Though Microprose Soccer came before and it was by Sensible Software but it was mainly not as good as Kick Off 1 and 2 were.

Ah yes, the trailer alludes to what may have been the most badass letter ever written in history, the reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire, if this letter has indeed existed to begin with.

Sultan Mehmed IV to the Zaporozhian Cossacks:

As the Sultan; son of Muhammad; brother of the sun and moon; grandson and viceroy of God; ruler of the kingdoms of Macedonia, Babylon, Jerusalem, Upper and Lower Egypt; emperor of emperors; sovereign of sovereigns; extraordinary knight, never defeated; steadfast guardian of the tomb of Jesus Christ; trustee chosen by God Himself; the hope and comfort of Muslims; confounder and great defender of Christians - I command you, the Zaporogian Cossacks, to submit to me voluntarily and without any resistance, and to desist from troubling me with your attacks.

--Turkish Sultan Mehmed IV

The Cossacks' reply came as a stream of invective and vulgar rhymes, parodying the Sultan's titles:

Version 1:

Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan!

O sultan, Turkish devil and damned devil's kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight are you, that can't slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil excretes, and your army eats. You will not, you son of a bitch, make subjects of Christian sons; we've no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, fuck your mother.

You Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-fucker of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, pig of Armenia, Podolian thief, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw your own mother!

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. You won't even be herding pigs for the Christians. Now we'll conclude, for we don't know the date and don't own a calendar; the moon's in the sky, the year with the Lord, the day's the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

- Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko, with the whole Zaporozhian Host.

Current reviews say the game is still buggy and broken. FPS drops everywhere and it's still stutter city for most gamers.

These skins actually give stat boosts to the players using them, therefore making this a rather pay2win affair.

DICE being shitty again, such a surprise.

A shame this will still sell millions because of the Star Wars name associated with it.

Not sure what reality you guys are living in, but "video games" in the 80s was magical and evolutionary. We're talking TI99 and C64 time, when most people didn't even know what one of those were, let alone any "saturation", and BBs's and 75 baud modems were all the rage...

Talk about rewriting history... none of you must have been around then, hell 90% of those here on blues were likely not even born.

Exactly. After the 83 crash, what saved the industry was the magic happening on the C64, on the BBC Micro, on the ZX Spectrum, on the TI-99, on the Amstrad CPC. It was the microcomputers, as they were called, that saved the industry from certain doom by attracting a ton of talented bedroom developers. I still have my C64, still fully working. Those were magical and amazing times, where games could be free to be whatever they damned pleased.

I recommend watching Bedroom to Billions, a documentary on the English gaming developing scene of the 80s and early 90s, a hell of a nostalgia trip and a pretty badass documentary to boot.

So, early feedback on Win10? Does it follow the Windows pattern of one good Windows release followed by a bad one or does it break it?

Those prototype Amigas are truly amazing finds, like the sony-nintendo prototype found a few months ago. Hope they get taken care of, in a museum or otherwise, those are pieces of computing history that shouldn't be lost to time.

Happy 30, Amiga. Way ahead of its time. If only Commodore didn't fuck up one wonders how the Amiga would have changed the computer tech landscape.
