Is this all supposed to illicit some kind of sympathy for Broussard?

LOL

Screw him.

I'll let it cook for another year, then get the game.

Greedy idiots.

From what I can tell Mafia 2 is a shadow of what Mafia 1 was. They purposely cut out material just so they could turn around and package it as DLC that you pay extra for.

No thanks. I'll pass.

Talk about falling off a Cliff.

What has Epic done in the last few years? Anything at all for the PC?

I had heard AC2 was pretty good, but no sale here with their ridiculous DRM. It's time to say no to the BS. I would rather buy it at $40 without the DRM than $10 with it.

Just wish they'd fix the horribly broken key mapping on the PC version.

Sigh.

53. Re: OnLive Launches Thursday, New Details Jun 15, 2010, 17:01 wrlwnd

As you can see from the results in the first article, games like Halo and GTA have input lags of around ~167ms. If you have fiber, your round trip time to a close server is around ~8ms.

As you can see, ping times are really not that big of a factor when calculating how responsive a game feels.

Given the aging tech of today's consoles, it shouldn't be too hard to beat that input lag time with much faster processing capabilities. In fact, you need to be just 5% faster than a 360 and the ping time is taken care of. But the question is can you do it economically on a large scale? That's the question we are all waiting to find out. they are saying they can do it for $5/month. I guess we'll see.

Forget the input lag. Just the amount of data to render a high-def quality image is going to be huge.

You can't get around that. Period.

And the input lag will be a problem for most people. Sure there are a small minority that may have a postive experience, but the state of U.S. broadband is such that it will stay a small minority for quite some time.

51. Re: OnLive Launches Thursday, New Details Jun 15, 2010, 16:51 wrlwnd

The reasons the OnLive model won't fly are very simple:

1) If you're playing at home, with or without decent broadband, then a console that lasts 10 years, costs $250, and plays great games in high def (much higher than OnLive is going to give you), is the way to go.

2) If you want to play games on your laptop "on the road", then the broadband quality is going to be so hit and miss that it is not going to be a positive experience.

Game over.

If you can play new games on a $400 "work" laptop it will easily be worth $60 a year. There was a review of a budget gaming laptop on digg...it was $1,700... Give me a break.

There is a huge market of people for this service. All those low end laptops would be capable of high end gaming (hopefully). Even if they have to use cables to connect, it's an option hey do noy have ATM.

And you actually think that this is a viable service for "high end gaming"??

LOL

Back to the subject at hand - is this a full-length stand-alone game or just another add-on?

I'm not complaining about Valve's humor or originality, I enjoy their games and their writing but I find it shark jumping that they are incorporating their fictional world with a real world company.

If people are stupid enough to use unsecured wireless communications, then they pretty much deserve anything that happens as a consequence.

OS X itself (not the thing that runs on the iPad/iPods/iPhone) is POSIX compliant. Up until recently it had very good OpenGL support as well (they're a couple major revisions behind now, unfortunately).

That's a great environment for a computer engineer to work in, undeniably better than most console. Many developers will prefer that kind of environment to Windows..

The last time I used OpenGL it required so many vendor-specific extensions for any kind of modern features that I decided to switch to D3D. So no, I don't consider that a "great environment" to work in.

I didn't buy MAW2 because of the lack of dedicated servers. Nor will I ever buy it, the fanboy buttkissers on here not withstanding.

I will probably buy the Treyarch version because of their support for dedicated servers.

Pretty simple.
