I recall hearing Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky had ideas on how to bring more depth to mmogs, but instead Valve and Activision killed them.

Valve murdered Tim Cain!? BASTARDS!!!

Hmm. I'm pretty sure you can run Origin games without Origin actually running, which gives it a leg up on Steam in that regard.

I'm not ready to bail on Valve yet but I'm surprised to see Origin gaining so much traction. Third time's the charm, eh EA?

Of course that's the pattern for EA. Make a few good decisions. Build up some good will. Then blow it all on stupidity and greed. Just wait for them to add a subscription fee to Origin. Remember that these are the guys who wanted to charge you $5 for the luxury of having them remember you bought a game from them.

Two roads diverged in an urban jungle.

GTA took the super-serious road.

Saints Row took the totally ridiculous road. It took it while dressed as a hot dog. And it STILL has more believable characters.

Bring on Saints Row the Third.

In other words: "We can't possibly make it like the original because we made it a console game! What, are you suggesting it didn't have to be a console game?"

It has an ant farm!

Is it a gigantic ant farm?

For those who purchased today, pre-purchased, or know somebody who has, EA screwed things up a little.

The initial wave of Sims 3 Pets (PC) includes a limited edition pet shop. Future shipments of the product will not have this item available, according to EA. This, in itself, is not an issue, but rather the distribution OF the pet shop.
The shop itself was not included on disk. This was not an oversight; but what WAS an oversight was neglecting to include instructions on how to acquire the pet shop.
Go to the official site, thesims3.ea.com. Login to the site. Register your product. If you bought the title digitally, you still have to do this, even if through Origin (in spite of Origin and the official Sims 3 site being linked).
Go to the Store section of the site.
Click on My Account.
Click on Purchase History.
Download the pet store from there.

This isn't the first time they've done this. Most of the expansions will give you additional content if you register them like that. That's the primary reason you can't register Sims 3 games directly through Origin without using a separate site.

IIRC, Lionhead shut down and reformed as Bright Light.

Either way, nice to see EA continuously trying to murder the studio that earned it some credibility in the first place. Don't you have enough severed developer heads on your wall, EA?

Too bad they never fixed the incredibly bland campaign for Retribution.

It's not a terrible campaign. As long as you only play through with one race...

Any single player content, or would it be too much to ask to shoehorn the Tau commander into the cookie-cutter design of Retribution?
