doesn't seem like kevlar vest does much.

It only protects against the soldier ability "Armor Penetrating Ammo", AFAIK.

The armor penetrating ammo might nullify the vest, but the damage of all other ammo types should be reduced. Health buff and extra health from command posts is pointless because you die just as quick with or without them. Medics not much good aside from resurrection because you're dead before they can get a heal off. Damage output just seems to be too great for anything to work properly.

Check out this old preview video of Brink. This is the gameplay I expected. It looks so much better than what we have today--mainly because this guy takes a few hits and doesn't get killed instantly. Compared to what I'm playing, he must have invulnerability enabled.

I've had sound cut out on the first map I play on within just a few minutes.

Yeah, I could load the game right now, join a server playing the Refuel map and be guaranteed to lose sound within the first 2 minutes.

Seen someone post on the SD forums that the damage buff was broke.. they apparently tested it with a friend and it took the same amount of shots to kill the other person with and without buff. Anyone able to verify this?

Also, doesn't seem like kevlar vest does much. I can have the ability as a soldier, plus get the engineer's buff and I still die within milliseconds of getting hit with the first shot.

I had signed up for the beta some months back, which I evidently wasn't accepted into, but they sent me this advertisement for an in-game item yesterday.

Take your enemies out from a distance with the Scoped N-TEC 5 PR1! It features high stopping power and a long effective range, making it a favorite of many factions within San Paro. Offering an increased zoom and reduced recoil over the standard rifle allows you to hit targets at long range without losing any stopping power.

It's only 399 G1 Credits with a Premium discount, or pick it up at its normal price for only 499 G1 Credits! Click the button below to learn a little more about the Scoped-N-Tec 5 PR1!

The button link: http://forums.gamersfirst.com/index.php?showtopic=160821&st=0

Reading some of the posts, looks like you are only renting the weapons you purchase. $5 for 400 credits. Does anyone know the rental time and price range of the items?

The ads are mentioned in one of the last paragraphs of this preview.

Yeah, I've been losing sound on more than just Refuel now. Enemies also sometimes totally disappear so I can't see them and there's some numbers/letters that are corrupt so they look like static.

Thing I don't like about the game is how easily you can die. It's a tactical FPS, but it plays like a deathmatch and I find it difficult to have any kind of safe strategy. You can get headshot and die instantly, but some weapons will kill you before you can even figure out what direction you're getting hit from. I spend most of my time waiting for respawn and walking back to the action.

But I definitely don't think it's worth $50 for what amounts to 8 multiplayer maps and nothing more. They aren't doing us any favors by giving away free DLC. I kind of feel like they owe it to me. heh

Another thing I wanted to point out was how good the player models look--however, I rarely ever notice what other people look like in game. I don't know if it's because I'm always looking for nametags above heads to tell if they are friend or foe or what, but I feel as if the avatar customization is just a big gimmick.

One thing that I find really irritating are the two intros and the outro of every map. You have to push a key to skip the first intro, but the second you have to click a button with the mouse to skip. You can use the mouse on the first button, but the pointer gets reset to the center of the screen so that you can't just simply push the button on the next one without moving the pointer first. You also have to wait for all players to click ready before the map starts and there doesn't seem to be any [apparent] timer on that besides a 10 second countdown that keeps resetting once it hits 0. After everyone finally clicks in, you have to sit through yet another waiting period in the form of a 8 second countdown! There's no way to skip the outro so you have to sit through that a thousand times and then there's a 45 second timer after the outro before the next map will load.

Not to mention all the waiting around for respawn since I'm always getting one-shot..

You can tell bots from players while in a game if you look at the scoreboard. Players will have a connection quality indicator that's typically green, while bots will have a silhouette icon.

Game seems to crash much more with today's patch.

Don't make the mistake I made by leveling without unlocking everything first. The second Be More Objective challenge is impossible for me to complete now at level 13. Seems the only thing I can do if I want to unlock those items is to delete the character and start over.

The game crashed just now while I was alt-tabbed typing this.

Eh, I just made a new character and all the items from my old toon are still unlocked. I didn't think it would work that way.

I tried GW1 a few years back for a brief time and everything was instanced except for when you were in town. You couldn't go out in the wild and hope to meet up with other people because you were basically in a single player game unless you went in there with other people to begin with. I can't imagine that changing since when I tried it, but something to consider if you are thinking of picking it up.

Yeah, Smell-O-Vision is exactly what it is. Repackaged 1960's "technology". We need a true scent simulator, not some Glade plug-in. Maybe some people would buy this for their kids, but I can't see a lot of gamers going for it.

I normally don't play FPS on the console, but I found The Darkness to be quite enjoyable. It's $7 off Amazon for the 360. The world was surprisingly detailed and had a lot of humorous elements. I'm looking forward to checking this game out on the PC with proper controls.

If you call the graphics good when you see models moonwalk or slide rather than walk, you are way too easily pleased.

I've played in the last 3 betas and not sure what you mean by the models sliding or moonwalking. The only thing that seemed off to me was the mount animation seemed too fast for the speed at which they travel. I haven't seen anything unusual happening as far as the player models. Anyway, graphics and animations are two different things.

Hotkeying may be more efficient (I question whether reaching to 6-9 truly is)...

Of course it isn't efficient. Using the default key layout is terribly inefficient. First thing I do for any game or demo is rebind everything. I can't see how anyone can install a game and start playing with whatever key layout the developers ship with (usually WASD and 1-9). Would make more sense if it was TFGH.. you have plenty of keys on both sides and it's in the middle of the numbers.

I never played Duke3D on the console because I hate FPS games on the console, but I did check out the demo. From what I remember, they let you rebind all your controller keys, which is highly unusual for a console game.

So you can buy the retail game and not give credit card #?

Okay, I think I'm understanding your concern here. Yeah, that's though to say. Buying the retail game might obligate you to enter payment information, while downloading the client may not. I was thinking that you may be able to link the retail game key to your Turbine account and then be presented with some options, VIP by entering in a method of payment or premium without. I'm surprised that question wasn't answered in anything I've read.

More information in this post on the official forums. I'm willing to bet that if you purchase the game, your CD key pretty much guarantees you a premium account no matter when you sign up, be it before the 8th or after. I don't see anything that specifically says it though.
