I've heard of some people punching Nazis.

This is the first time I've heard of someone punching *themselves* in the face, because Nazis.

I'm pretty excited. There haven't been very many 1980-era games made in recent years.

I really liked Alpha Protocol. It sat on my shelf for years because I'd heard all the negative press about it, but it was actually quite enjoyable.

I tried playing it in 4K. It is unplayable. Uninstalled.

I also have no desire to spend money to support P2W games.

Shame, too. I really liked Secret World.

I installed it. Saw that UI scaling was broken on 4K, promptly uninstalled.

Anyone tried Tyranny? I must not have even noticed it when it was released. Looks kinda interesting.

Ignore the haters, it's actually really good if you like Baldur's Gate style games. (If you don't like reading walls of text and agonizing over what your character will say, then you probably won't like it.)

I have been playing it through on difficult, and the fights are actually really tough. You have to strategize a lot, and mix crowd control with damage and aggro management to not have your characters just get exploded left and right.

The spell crafting system is really really good.

I like the strongholds - they actually do something, unlike in Pillars of Eternity. You can craft items from recipes, upgrade gear, hire trainers to train your skills, etc. You never seem to have enough money to optimize everything you want to do, so you have to think intelligently about your upgrades, since, again, the combats are tough.

Great worldbuilding, great story. Playing an evil character is also a fun change.

My only disappointment with Paradox was that they didn't market it, so a lack of sales means a lack of support for the franchise, but hey look two DLCs. So maybe it's looking up.

Torment is actually pretty good. The writing is fantastic, and there is a *lot* of it. It's a game where you actually have to pay really close attention to what the NPCs are saying, as the clues are pretty subtle a lot of times as to which choice is the "right" one.

I guess if you just want to read spoilers for everything or constantly reload until you get the right answer, then you can make do not reading the 1.2M words in it, but, honestly, that's what you're paying for - a text-based story that has some 2D isometric graphics associated with it.

If you don't like reading, you won't enjoy the game, nor will you like it if you don't like the Numenaria setting (which is fair - future fantasy isn't for everyone). But the negative reviews on Steam are unfair - it really is a great game.

I've tried it a few times and been utterly unimpressed.

I really wanted to like it because I love EU4, but it's such an empty game...

I bought, and then returned, Civ 6. Too much like Civ 5 to be worth the full asking price. All other Civ games felt meaningfully different from their predecessors, whereas this one felt like a Civ 5 expansion pack. A meaty expansion pack, but an expansion pack nonetheless, and I can't justify $60 for a game I already own.

It's different enough to be justified in calling it a new game.

I'm really liking it. And I say this as someone who hated Civ V out of the box. Civ V was a super dumbed down version of the game; Civ VI has all sorts of very interesting options.

There's a few bugs (most irritating when Move Next Unit bugs out and won't select the unit that needs to move, or how hard it is to see improvements in the basic UI), but they are minor enough not to bother me.

Stallaris was unfortunately very underwhelming, especially the midgame. I'm hoping they'll make it better and I can go back to it, but it was just too boring to waste my time on.

Time to go play some EU4.

I don't think it's really that bad. There's so many different paths through the game that you can probably reach a good ending doing basically any of them.

I took absolutely zero combat skills and did just fine, as the game has alternatives to fighting for basically any mandatory encounter. And then I made a fighting guy who did the exact opposite.

You might not get the ending you want (I didn't realize until literally the last encounter of the game that the messiah ending was impossible for me), but you can get *an* ending basically no matter what you do.

And it's a very replayable game, kudos to them for that as well. There's far more content in it than you can see in a single playthrough.

Huh. I really like Gal Civ III. They did a lot of things right in it.

My only gripe is that the diplomatic route is way too powerful in single player. If you build up your diplomatic skills, the AI will never attack you, and then you win.

Is it any good?

Very very good. 6 hours in before my first bug, which is a new all time best record for Bethesda.

One of the best things they've done is implement a salvaging system, so all those cups and pencils you pick up actually do something. It's very easy to just walk up to a crafting station, dump all your junk into it (one keypress) and then see what you can craft from it.

Plus I got hot rod flames on my power armor, and that's pretty sweet.

I've been playing Rebel Galaxy and enjoying it. It has a reasonable number of options for customizing your ship and doing missions (though I wish there was more, honestly), and the Firefly vibe for the game is a lot of fun.

News Comments > Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition Released
9. Re: Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition Released Oct 7, 2015, 01:24 ShakaUVM

A friend of mine hated DAI, I actually really enjoyed it. Not a perfect RPG (oh lord, the tactical camera) but it is a very very big game with a massive scope. I probably only went to half the zones before I got to the end, then spent hours just walking around looking at all the stuff, solving puzzles, and killing the optional dragon encounters.

Great music (the tavern songs!), good story, stronghold building far better than in Pillars of Eternity, decent RPG itemization and levelling, and beautiful graphics. There's a meta-quest system that some people hated, but I liked the feeling that I was leading the army and had the ability to send other parties off to do quests to unlock stuff for me.

I'd give it a bit over 90% overall.
