For class, the higher number is better, but it depends on your ship. A viper can go up to class 3, so I don't think it would even let you buy a class 4. Next, the rating, with A being the best I the worst.

A class 4 will have tons more power than a class 3. The difference between an A rating and a B usually comes down to the weight of the upgrade. An "A" power distributer might weigh a couple tons less than a "B", therefore making your ship's jump distance increase.

A lot of people have made the mistake of buying an A rated upgrade, but of a lower class. Then rage happens when they realize their jump distance is now 2ly.

And Merry Christmas!

I'm at work scheming how to leave early.

Nice

I better try some trade runs than.
Finally Federation became friendly. Looks strange to see so many green ships on the radar. The station also green.
My combat rank is still novice or some silly like.

By the way I finally upgraded the thrusters on my Viper and what a difference. I can out strafe those pesky Sidewinders.
I'd love to upgrade my shields too but those shield stats make no sense to me.

The shields make a huge difference. I put an A rank shield in and I've barely taken hull damage since. It would be nice to see a stat for what your current shield strength is. An upgraded viper is not something to toy with.

Trading's back on. I made about 1 million dollars in an hour.

Edit: Sorry, I really need to not post while I fly. I almost crashed into a planet. Trading seems to work more or less how it used to...there are insane deals you can find, but they dry up in a few runs. I bought imp slaves for 10k and sold for 16k, but after 2-3 runs, the market equalized. Which is kinda cool, it's based on me or other humans rather than the ai constantly roaming everywhere.

I need to make about $30 million credits. My future Asp is waiting. I might try the rare goods run. Jumping so many times is...tedious, but if it nets me anywhere near $500k to a million I'll try it.

Edit:
Thanks, Lorcin (I believe it was you...total apologies if not) who advised me to get a viper instead of grinding straight up to the Asp. From what I've read, the Asp is pretty crap at default. However, pump another 20 million into upgrades and it's arguably the best ship in the game. I am surprised at how much my viper is costing to upgrade. It absolutely has owned everything, but I still can spend another few million on upgrades easily. I shudder at the Asp upgrades.

Trading is broken at the moment...at least in Empire space. With the server update, my old trade routes have dried up. I flew around for awhile, but didn't see anything jump out at me.

Though, actually, looks like they tweaked it back? From the frontier forums:

"a server update has just been completed with a single change. It includes two balance tweaks, the first is to prevent large economies consuming more of the good that it also produces. This improves the supply of those goods for the player. The second change reduces the impact of demand from the AI trading so that players are more likely to encounter high demand."

GRRRR!!!!! I got a mission for an imperial advancement meeting. It said something, but I didn't pay attention. I figured it'd show up in my quest log. Nope! Lame! I have no idea where the quest meetup is!

I got to empire rank MASTER, so they probably were going to assign a hot woman to massage my needs. Le sigh.

Totally enjoying this game, minus the hundreds of quests per zone. It's so overwhelming. At this point I just want to get on with the game.

I also feel wrong...my guy totally looks (and sounds) like Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones. It creeps me out. He's super nice though! Light side!

I am actually just taking on these high paying bounty mission and killing off Anaconda's one after the other.
Usually it's in a non-anarchy system and I get some help from the local police forces which makes things a lot easier.

Can only recommend once you get a Cobra.

[edit]
I wonder how many elite Anacondas I have to kill to not be a novice anymore.

I hate fighting anacondas. They take forever and generally give me crap rewards. If it's changed, cool. But I'd rather kill small ships in a timely manner.

I've been playing the high intensity zone in Sorbago. Eagles get RAPED by players. Super easy to kill, and you get the same $3k as you would fighting a python/anaconda for 15 minutes.

That said, I'm totally getting a python once I can afford it.

There's nothing to do, right? Just fight waves of ai/people in a small map. And race. I'll be more interested when they add a feature where you can, ya know, fly a mission or they open a little sandbox to play in.

I don't have AC 1.0, but I fired it up a few weeks ago and was surprised they finally got around to implementing trackIR. That was cool.

Other npc ships also get aggroed if you steal their kills. They won't fire at you, at least none of them fired at me yet but they become red and they keep on scanning you.
Warp in and out works too to reset
At least they've fixed the dang kill stealing issues that was frustrating. I got a pirate down to 2% hull and the cops finished him off and I got no bounty.
Now it works the other way around. I can nearly kill someone and if the cops finish him off I will still get the bounty.

If you go to an Anarchy system you won't have these issues anymore although everyone can start attacking you at ones.

Ah, this happened to me last night. I went into a USS and warrant scanned two ships, then I noticed they were fighting. One was clean, the other wanted. Both went hostile when I shot the wanted guy the first time. After I killed it, the clean guy just sat there being all red, but not attacking. I let him live and flew away.

Where do you guys go for bounty hunts? The ones I find at nav beacons usually are really pathetic sidewinders that are only worth 1-2k. I was flying to a station to park and got interdicted...that guy was worth $23k. Should I set up an interdictor on my ship?

There was no line between my local star and my target on the Galaxy Map presumably because the stars were just out of range for my ship. Does that mean it is never jumpable even though I closed the distance?

Not sure, I haven't tried to plot a route that long before, I'll play around with it in game.

Some systems require a permit to enter...I don't think Sorbago is one of them, but I know Sol is. A lot of people got pissed flying all the way out to Sol, only to be denied the final jump into the system.

Are you guys all around Sorbago? I'm quite far away, probably about 200 jumps.

I am. Funny story. I thought there would be a wipe after gamma, and I kind of ended up in Empire space. What the hell? Let's give this a go! Frontier: No wipe, keep on truckin'. Me: Yay! Oh...Damn.

I think I'd get murdered immediately going into Federation space. My rep is not very good.

I had to make my first route plot to a system 10 or so jumps away. I kind of freaked out because the line went from solid to dashed. If you can't make the jump, the lines should disappear. Turns out, that point is where you run out of fuel...I never noticed that before.

Uhh, so wow. Empire kind of sucks for trading. There's no high supply to high demand routes that anyone has found. Also, the faction rep gain was broken. Um....not so much anymore.

I did a cargo run in my viper (shut up, it's upgraded to 8) and found an Imperial Navy quest to find combat stabalisers. That shit is prohibited in empire space. I would have ignored it except for the Imp Navy thing. Hmm..maybe that's how I finally gain rep. I have been doing everything I can think of and I still am neutral with the Empire. I had to run waaaaay outside to find an anarchy system that sold them (combat stabalisers). It was around twelve jumps. My viper gets around 10.2 ly jump distance (I knew splooging my money on the A frameshift drive would work out).

Anyway, returned the goods and, now I'm an OUTSIDER to the empire! Woot! I'm no longer neutral!

So, if you're an empire person, if you see a mission marked IMPERIAL NAVY something or other...the reward for that is a direct upgrade in status for the empire.

Apparently, you get the missions from Empire Dictatorships...though a few reports have come in from a few stations not sharing that description.

Just finished some high intensity combat in Sorbago. Man, that was so much fun. Oddly, all the human players I've seen are empire. I actually collided with a friendly player while I was in flight assist off mode. I spun out so fast it almost made me dizzy. Got control back and jumped into the dogfight. Afterwards, we texted each other and got the thumbs up no damage report.

Those Imperial fighters are little bastards. Their shields recharge super fast and I think they are faster/more agile than my viper. It was always less than 1k away and totally flying circles around me.

I had to leave the fight because I ran out of ammo on my multi cannons.
