Am I right in classifying the first game as sort of a rough gem? It's gotten mediocre reviews, with "mixed" rating on Steam. But some people seem to really like it. It must be one of those games that really shines if you can get past the jank. Never played but have been curious about it.

I've had a lot of fun with this one. It's a really interesting mix of city builder and rogue-lite. The early game starts out a little slow but has a lot of interesting decision making later on.

Why am I not surprised somebody who expected a good story from a casual roguelite/management game is also complaining about it featuring optional minigames?
The game is fun and goofy and I look forward to the music slapping my earholes with that bass every time I dive in.

According to MrLamaSC (a popular youtuber in the genre), it doesn't have any predatory micro-transactions, but the usual stuff. Cosmetics, increased bag & stash tabs, pets... similar to Path of Exile. Everything unlocked is account wide and all progression & content is unlocked through play.
This is of course really nice to hear, I'm a fan of the series (though the 3rd game stumbled hard), so I hope this is solid, fun and not too overly grindy. I look forward to trying it, though I'm not sure it'll replace Diablo II Resurrected for me.

Isn't this game built around the idea of coop but at the same time sucks at that immensely? I tried this game with a friend. One of us picked up fundamental items like the BACKPACK, leaving the other stranded without one. Same for gaining skills through quest completion -- only the person completing it gained said skill. Utterly ridiculous. We quit within hours.

Damn. Good luck to him though. He took almost everything Wilson got wrong, and made it right. Took everything Wilson got right (combat), and made it better.
