Am I right in classifying the first game as sort of a rough gem? It's gotten mediocre reviews, with "mixed" rating on Steam. But some people seem to really like it. It must be one of those games that really shines if you can get past the jank. Never played but have been curious about it.

You nailed it. If you can get over the jank, it's a great game. Extremely unique. One of the best open world games in a while. It is not easy to get over the rough aspects though...

Not a fan of this game. Felt a little too lacking in nuance. Is your chip generation high? Pick multiplier stuff. Multiplier high? Pick chip generation. Can't find what you need? Restart.

I presume he means that, sure, Kotick sucks but plenty of people have made good or great games while working indirectly under a terrible CEO. You can't skate free from your bad games by blaming it on the outgoing executive.

I've had a lot of fun with this one. It's a really interesting mix of city builder and rogue-lite. The early game starts out a little slow but has a lot of interesting decision making later on.

It's a neat, unique game. However, I found it lost its charm for me as I raised the difficulty. It feels annoying that you can't actually explore the map because it scales the difficulty too quickly. But on easier modes, the game is too slow and there's a lot of waiting.

In case you want to return the new PSU, you probably can. I have a 4090 using a non ATX 3.0 PSU, 1000 watts, using the provided cable adapter and it works totally fine. Just don't bend the adapter too much inside the case and make sure it is plugged in all the way.

I'm wish listing Starfield and waiting for a sale. Haven't even started BG3 yet and Bethesda games are so shallow since Oblivion. Remnant 2 was phenomenal.

Why am I not surprised somebody who expected a good story from a casual roguelite/management game is also complaining about it featuring optional minigames?

The game is fun and goofy and I look forward to the music slapping my earholes with that bass every time I dive in.

Huh? Yes, if I have to read a novels worth of a mandatory dialog then I'd expect the story to be at least mediocre.

If you like mobile game style mini games then this game is for you. Otherwise why pay for half a game?

I will agree the music and style is good though.

Counterpoint: I finished the game and it was very disappointing.

It starts off strong, promising a light but addicting gameplay loop of diving for resources to power your restaurant which generates money to level up for deeper dives.

A few hours in, it becomes clear the entire game is in fact a broad collection of inch-deep mini games. I stopped upgrading my restaurant only 1/3 into the story. I largely stopped upgrading my dive equipment probably 2/3 in.

The game relentlessly adds new mini games and busy work. It turns out you can ignore almost all of it. The game introduced a chicken breeding mini game literally right before I went on the final mission...

Also, it features massive amounts of dialog but zero character development and a McGuffin based main story.

According to MrLamaSC (a popular youtuber in the genre), it doesn't have any predatory micro-transactions, but the usual stuff. Cosmetics, increased bag & stash tabs, pets... similar to Path of Exile. Everything unlocked is account wide and all progression & content is unlocked through play.

This is of course really nice to hear, I'm a fan of the series (though the 3rd game stumbled hard), so I hope this is solid, fun and not too overly grindy. I look forward to trying it, though I'm not sure it'll replace Diablo II Resurrected for me.

Unfortunately, he's either mistaken or being paid to say that. Look into it yourself and decide. It's definitely got pretty bad stuff in it that's far worse than PoE.

Isn't this game built around the idea of coop but at the same time sucks at that immensely? I tried this game with a friend. One of us picked up fundamental items like the BACKPACK, leaving the other stranded without one. Same for gaining skills through quest completion -- only the person completing it gained said skill. Utterly ridiculous. We quit within hours.

Yes out of the box the co op is weird. But you can spend like 2 minutes of research to find and install a mod that fixes it...

Agreed. Very unique and underrated game. It has its fair share of jank and annoying design decisions... But I found it worth it.

Also the ending of the main quest was so anticlimactic that I burst out laughing.

Damn. Good luck to him though. He took almost everything Wilson got wrong, and made it right. Took everything Wilson got right (combat), and made it better.

He certainly did an admirable job with what he had to work with. However, there were a lot of major problems with Diablo 3 that Josh never addressed, such as the fundamental character/combat design cues taken from WoW.
