That's nice, but they don't say what's improved or why its "recommended". Does crysis 1.2 crash and burn with prev version of the drivers? Plus I'm always leary about installing beta drivers.

Very cool. Lots of the requested fixes and tweaks fixed. Whats great is that they didn't go too "nerf" happy. Well except for against the air vehicles...

Actually I liked the aliens part. The game got a little too easy and repetitive even at delta mode with the cloaking and North Koreans. Cloak, head shot/grab punch enemy, cloak, move to a different spot, repeat.

I've been having alot of fun with Crysis MP. Just a couple of hacks here and there and I hope this patch gets rid of them. Game runs very smoothly at mid res and mid quality on an 8800GT.

Let me take a step back and ask: Whats the point of this "study"? Who funds this "research", if it could really be termed as such? Do they really have that much time and money on their hands?

What really killed this game. Were they overly ambitious? I think most people just wanted a Diablo clone, but they tried to go beyond with a new 3d engine, fancy graphics and effects, etc, but eventually did a half-assed job across the board. Just give me Diablo's isometric view at a higher res and some cleanup and I'll be happy.

There's always one post reminiscing about DN3D in every one of these thread, so here's mine. I didn't play the original game through its entirety, but I remember playing multiplayer with my brother. I think we used a serial null modem cable. We deathmatched on the huge football stadium. My god, that was so fun, with the shrink ray, the jet pack, and the freeze gun. It was the first time I learned the general multiplayer rule that you ought to let your opponent kill you at least a couple times to keep them in the game, so you can kill them some more. My brother god so mad that I wouldn't let him kill me that he quit the game for a month. Remember that this is back in the days of ipx emultion and mplayer, so it wasn't easy/possible to find someone online to play with. Hehe.

Well gotta give them credit for being honest and specific. Most first round patches will target bugs such as these. Its normal. But most devs would just send out a vague description of what they're fixing, and try to sweep the glaring problems like mem leaks under the rug.

No doubt the game was rushed, and the launch was piss poorly executed. But anyone remember the launch of diablo? I could barely log in sporadically for a good 2-3 weeks. There were bugs, but they weren't published.

I do not know if I believe him or not. But I would be suing Valve for banning my account if I said "fuck". I have a lot of games and money invested in Steam. Not only does the EULA not explicitly mention profanity but then you would have to define what you consider profane.

If it is true, they are breaking their own contract with you.

And I would be incredibly pissed that they essentially stole my money.

I would too. But as with all games, they have a code of conduct in there and they also have a wrap-all clause that sorta says that they can deny service to anyone for any reason. Its their software and their rules. Crying and whining gets you nowhere.

A general rule of thumb is that HD video consumes about 9GB per hour, on average.

I'll judge the game by itself. It seems popular to declare your hatred for a game based on the developers trying to make money off of it. It's impossible to make a good looking game without spending a lot of money however, and since people aren't very willing to spend mroe money on games (that have increased in cost to make) then other ways of making money off said game have to be created.

Agreed. Development costs have skyrocketed as have the complexity of games. I don't mind the ads, our generation has pretty much gotten attuned to automatically filtering them out. The ads in CS doesn't bother me at all.

I wish WoW would do this. $15 per month to maintain your characters is outrageous, especially considering the large subscriber base. WoW should have free subscription but with ads. Off track sorry.

*drools*

Soul Hunter looks like an upgrade to the dragoon. Phase Cannons are cannons that can be teleported around the base. Temptest is the carrier from the looks of it. Archon, is... a tank.

Sorry, I got news for you, all companies are greedy. Its the whole point of building a company: to aspire to grow bigger, stronger, more stable, and (mainly) to acquire more revenue. What you should be asking is that they don't get too foreign and disjoint from the gaming community, and listen to feedback, and focus on building truly inspiring fun games.

In any case, I think they are opening a second studio and growing just because the budget and manpower to build next gen games require more than quadruple that of current games.

I keep getting confused which is which. Is this the official sequel? Which is the one thats most "faithful" to the originals? I don't get why devs don't understand that most xcom fans really just want a rehash of the tried and true turn based formula of yore. Sorta like CnC3, it works well because they didn't change too much.

Just want to point out that, being in the QA process for a number of years. Yes its true that they should have caught the majority of these bugs before release. But if the bugs involve hundreds of thousands of online multiplayer component, its just very difficult to test that. You just can't simulate that many connections. Thats what open beta tests are for, and I suppose thats what they should have done. But aside from that, CnC is pretty solid for me. I haven't had much trouble online (although I witnessed at some point the servers were down on Sun). Not crippling bugs, and the game is just superbly fun.

I really never had much problems with EA games and even though they always say there's a ton of patches and a ton of bugs, I rarely run into any. NFSMW was a good game which I definitely enjoyed.

Well EA seems pretty responsive and responsible this time around with this game. They also seem to want to genuinely foster a community around this game. With the rankings and the telestrator/commentator support built in. If the game is good and back to CnC roots, I'm not complaining.
