A bit aggravating that Romero didn't really let the guy get a sentence out without interjecting his comments on top.

When they mention Overwatch, they are referring to the name of CS:GO's community regulation program, NOT the video game.

Did you even read the article? SWC2015 was $2.6M and Hi-Rez wants to cap it at 1M this year so that more pros get paid than having fewer teams get most of the pot.

Removing jump from the game does literally nothing to the gameplay. It's entirely useless and irrelevant.

This is coming from me, someone who played a fuckton of Tribes 1 and 2, and also played more than an hour of Tribes Ascend at PAX.

If you think they're "retards" and "don't have a clue", then why think fucking jumping is so integral to the game? Jesus, what a stupid, ignorant complaint.

Mr. Elefunk speaks the truth.

To see more value of their $50 a year mandatory fee to play anything online they will buy games on that system to justify the cost.

This isn't the case with me. I bought it on 360 even though I have a more than capable computer. Reason why I bought on 360 instead of PC:
1. I find I enjoy games more sitting on a couch and on the big screen rather than at a desk.
2. Gamerscore/achievements.
3. Games as big as P2 are going to be QA'd best on console simply because it has the most "riding on it." Essentially I am guaranteed it will run well because, well, of the 360's existing popularity.
4. Co-op can be done on split screen.

As a long-time PC gamer I'm surprised at myself for preferring games on 360 when the option is there. You just know it will run well and be made to be fun on the console. I did the same for Bulletstorm; I'll probably do the same for RAGE.

Was one of my favorite games as well, but I got it for $1. I was going to buy it at retail (best buy) when it looked like the sale price was $20 (I think?) but turned out the sale price was $39.99 which I felt was too much.

The game was priced too high imo.
Sad.

I thought it was worth the $60 (I did get it for XBox though). Of course one of my favorite games is Wipeout, so when this fast paced and colorful combat racer was released I was very pleased with their treatment of the genre.

So, we've had acronyms in vogue (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., F.E.A.R.), dodgy punctuation (DiRT), leetspeak (F3AR), Title:subtitle (too many to name), I guess we've arrived at ALLCAPS names now.
Actually, DOOM has always been properly expressed in all caps.

You disagree with the classiness of company faking its death to gain exposure and to show the world what one day without GOG is like.

I get that. Opinions on that are not what I've been posting about.

Now, which of you on here are actually negatively affected by this? Who on here was damaged? Who ACTUALLY is this "audience" who is ACTUALLY offended? My hunch is that many of you are in fact not GOG customers, never were (and probably never will be). So, who of you are not in the category of, "I read a news headline on bluesnews about a company that fooled everyone about faking their demise, and I'm gonna be pissed!" and instead are in the category of, "Wow, GOG really screwed me over on this?"

Really??? I mean come on guys!

First of all, they did say that they would have a solution for those who bought games and needed to download them.

Second of all, on what grounds would you sue?

I will never understand this audience. A company plays a PR joke and everyone is "offended." But then everyone loves to hate the big corporate giants like EA and Activision. I get it if you don't agree that it's a classy move, but come on, who was really damaged here? Who was denied access to a specific game they bought and needed to play yesterday? A PR stunt is just a PR stunt, but I think many of you over react a bit, yes?

Eh, I'm not "offended" or anything like that. Not too many places offer the "Good Old Games," and we got a taste of what it would be like without a good company like them caring about them.

Bold move, not a problem. May I suggest people to lighten up a bit?

That's because this is a website for consumers. While we do have a few developers that visit (and probably more who are anonymous), the focus of the site is (imo) on the consumer end. And as consumers, we're going to look out for our own interests. Why would I look out for the interest of developers? They're looking out for their interests, not mine.

Ideally, of course, we'd both be looking out for each other, but the corporate mentality that has become modern gaming makes that unrealistic.

Bhruic,

I am one of these "few developers that visit." (and BTW, many of our developers' computers are checking BN every day, so I'm not sure where you get your data).

Anyhow, I disagree with your post. How can a developer only look out for their own interest when their survivability is based on the consumer? You can go on and on about publishers, investment boards, etc., but please let it be known that a developer wants nothing more than to have their craft played and appreciated by an audience. What is the alternative? Are you suggesting that studios even as backward as RTW intentionally or knowingly screwed you over? Have you seen how many developers lives were turned upside down by this fiasco?

Please exercise caution when playing the victim card against the game developers who laid everything on the line and unfortunately lost.

If Mr. Bhruic indeed actually purchased APB (which is questionable), I can understand disappointment. Spreading ill-will and creating a divide between consumers and developers as if there is an evil corporate conspiracy against Mr. Bhruic and other APB customers though will get us all nowhere.

Linksil,

3 ways:
1. Free to download, free to play: Caps at level 15. This is for people who want to try out the game without paying for anything.
2. Buy the game, free to play: One time purchase price, and you can play PVE, PVP, and lots of other things. Basically for FPS fans who don't want to subscribe for more content and Alliance vs. Alliance campaigns and other subscriber perks.
3. Buy the game, subscribe: You have access to everything. Note, Hi-Rez is not charging subscriptions yet, so it is essentially "free" right now. Hi-Rez wants to make sure the game is built solid and that fans get their money's worth before charging a subscription fee. The subscriptions should begin with the next Sandstorm release.
