I see it as MS trying to be more like Apple. Don't see anyone screaming about them and their closed systems or requirements. People flock to their products.

The shift towards subscriptions is what bothers me. I don't like renting things, I want to own them but this seems to be more and more a thing of the past.

Looks nice enough much like Tom Clancy:The Division but I know nothing about this game.

Is there any single play like The Division at all? Is there good stealth implemented?

Still hate this reboot agenda.

This is like remaking an old F1 car but making it offroad capable and have plenty of cupholders.

Do not want consolized System Shock.

Though I don't know why you'd want to. You can pretty much get anything you want from Amazon for the same price as a Blockbuster rental, only a wider selection than any Blockbuster ever had and no trip to and from.

Going to disagree on both counts. $3 rental is too high and with membership, Blockbuster was way cheaper, usually <$1.

Blockbuster had anything I wanted to see, usually instock. Currently, can't find 'Still Alice' or 'The Stoning of Sorya' to stream anywhere. (this assumes canistream.it is accurate)

I very much dislike the current state of movie rentals. Fragmented and poor selection.

The current state of movie watching is horribly limited.

I really miss Blockbuster. <snif>

I just noticed that they are also making an Xbox version...

Agree on your overall sentiment.

Even the slightest bit of console design tends to ruin a true PC game experience.

Can't say it lacks features that's for sure.

To that point, all those controls are going to be too much for my brain and hand to handle. Heck, even half of them would be too much.

The young folks may be able to adapt but not me.

I'll wait for the direct connect to brain control version, not my hand.

10. Re: System Shock Kickstarter and Demo Jun 28, 2016, 20:34 Bumpy

Well, best as one can Alpha tell, it's mostly there.

I feel some key elements are still missing.

Hugely, the whole original HUD design and usability are absent. A huge part of SS1 charm was the excellent, informational and interactive HUD.

I did not feel a sense of worry, mainly I feel, because I felt too in control of my character. I'm nimble and fast now. The controls of the original SS were a great part of the challenge; now everything is too easy to do and everything controls too well. I feel like maybe they need to cripple the character or something to make one worry more so about their survival and dire situation.

Also, toggle lean/crouch are missing but that should be an easy fix.

Overall, I can't bring myself to back this. It feels too much like just another rpg'ish shooter. I prefer to play the original in Dosbox using the mouse toggle feature.

The marketing bullsheet from Microsoft is worse than most politicians.

With MS, I'll believe it when I see it.

I just played it also. This is not the Doom I expected.

I too immediately felt a Serious Sam vibe but not as good as SS.

All this detail but nothing destructible. Slain monsters disappear magically after only a few seconds.

It's all nice enough but nothing grabbed me; it felt like too many games before. It doesn't do anything amazing and it's not enough pure, EXACT Doom.

After playing it, I'm kind of shocked at the accolades this game has gotten.

After playing TC: The Division for countless hours, this visually looks awkward and amateur.

Could be fun if they fix the VW hacking quirks.

If they would put in the OPTION to play the game with Forza 4 physics and handling, I'd buy this day one.

The arcade style of this game is a turn off for me.

Windows 10 thing, no biggie to me, what's another account in the few 100 I already have.

Hope they put out a demo for this to help promote it. Early ones were interesting but didn't grab me, maybe this improved one will.
