News Comments > Steam Discovery Changes Will "Fight Fake Games"
17. Re: Steam Discovery Changes Will Apr 4, 2017, 13:44 Rhett

Definitely a lot of garbage on steam.. a lot of stuff I'd rather never, ever see on there (movies, novels, erotic novels/shitty ero games), but I guess those are considered "legit" compared to this.

If only Origin and Uplay didn't suck complete ass. Even if they didn't, Steam does everything better... blargh.

Definitely good changes, but seasons are really getting tedious.. I personally can't take another one... I hate starting out with no paragon again.

The biggest fault against DayZ is that it was built on a shitty shit engine and had awful multiplayer infrastructure. I wouldn't care if it was in EA all this time if it actually played well but you fire it up and there's as much buggy, poorly-optimized bullshit now as there was years ago.

He probably cashed out because he knew it could never be fixed and there was no point in hanging around with that noose around his neck.

To be fair, DayZ as a game has improved performance insanely on that engine, and the renderer they made for that will be used in the next ARMA game, which will be fantastic most likely. I think that and the multiple reiterations of zombie coding probably ate up most of their time. Now they're redoing the entirety of the forests on Chernarus next patch.

This Stationeers game sounds like that failed Ion game was reimagined or repackaged, of his.

Dean, though, needs to sit down and finish something before he announces anything else.

Would certainly be awesome on PC. I only played it on 360, and it was really fun. Never played any expansions though, but it was awesome. Good gunplay.

It is good, not too much wrong with it for an EA title. A little bit of bullshit here and there (mostly with "I should have killed that guy! I hit him in the head!" and the circle/gas encroaching so fast you can't have enjoyable firefights).

Game still isn't available here on Steam (central Europe). I even searched for it. Nothing. It's not even mentioned.

Not that I cared much because there is nothing I despise more in a game than paid micro-transactions, and MEA has them all...

Pretty sure it's not coming to Steam, like most EA games now.

And the "microtransactions" are just to speed up MP progression. I haven't spent a dime on these boxes on either this or ME3 and I've really enjoyed my time with it. When you "max out" an item or character by getting its card (and giving it upgraded stats/extra points/customization), it removes it from the loot pool, so you can grind your way forward... if you enjoy looking forward to unlocking the next cool thing.

Custom games can be pretty awesome too. Been a while since we had anything even close to UT mutators as a server option.

It's just.. where's an expansion? D4? Necromancer comes out later this year, probably for like $20 I'm guessing, but that seems maybe barely enough to keep it afloat in terms of interest. Hopefully that's the plan, as they delay the announcement of D4? *shrug*

31. Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda Early Access Mar 16, 2017, 21:43 Rhett

Played a few hours of the SP... writing seems okay (I'm not a story guy - playing it for the exploration/combat/etc), that one 50-cent-whore looking woman with all the makeup is the only cringey person I've seen yet, rest of the characters and dialogue are pretty cool. Drack and Vetra are awesome.

Loving the exploration and open world elements (Eos). Once I got there, the game started to shine gameplay-wise. Regardless of the story (I know, I know.. Mass Effect etc etc), it's beautiful, snappy, and fun to play. I can't wait to sit down without a 10 hour trial lingering over me and soak it in.

I mean some of the facial animations are odd (they can't be perfect, given the amount of dialogue), but these faces look amazing to me. I'm on all High settings, and it looks fantastic. Dunno what you guys are talking about...

Are you saying that the videos are lies?

Honestly haven't put much time into the SP, but I did the intro/pathfinder bit, and all the conversations and close-ups looked fine to me anyway. This video does point out some obvious flaws. I'm just saying that all of the animation can't be perfect. I believe it has as much dialogue as the last 3 games combined? (IIRC)

I'm getting it, anyway... the faces aren't gonna break the game for me.

Combat in the game is insane, and it's beautiful. The MP has lots of issues though. I wonder if it's the lack of day one patch?

And here is our dull multiplayer mode that requires you to grind forever OR puchase all the shit instantly with your credit card and bioware points.

ME3 didn't require you to grind forever. Every few matches on Silver got you plenty of credits for 2 good chests, which usually gave you good equipment. A gold match gave you enough credits for a chest with 40% extra cash to spare.

ME3's mp was fun. I'm glad it's back. For those who don't want to play mp, don't worry about it. Focus on the SP which Kotaku calls overwhelmingly huge. (and they said without the filler of DA:I )

The only thing I'm worried about is that they're sharing all the xp/medals etc. between everyone. That may seem like a good thing on the face of it, but it's just going to lead to tons of people joining a match and then not playing. It's worse than the old system where people whined about kill-stealing.

It shared in ME3, too... Everyone got pretty much the same XP. The better people did, the more medals were earned that added to the total. Credits were the same for everyone too.

I do recall "AFKers" a while back but that should be dealt with pretty quickly. Or I think there was a system in ME3 for it.

The main draw is the huuuuge variety. Guns, mods, characters, character builds... So much fun. And this one launches with, I think, more characters. ME3 was pretty clunky combat/movement-wise, and I hated feeling like I had to micromanage my squad to play harder difficulties. Looking forward to the new movement and combat for sure. Gonna play all 10 hours of the early access in MP...

So got the Xbox/PC Version.

It runs good on the PC but damn... controls are really messed up. Like if you want to get back to the menu when ingame... hit F10.

Maybe it's just because of how long I've been gaming, but hitting F10 to bring up a menu while in-game has been pretty common for a long time now. Escape is the current standard but F10 isn't unknown or uncommon by any stretch of the imagination.

not uncommon? the only other game i've played that uses f10 for menu is starcraft. in fact i'm pretty sure they just cut and pasted starcraft's keyboard commands.

All of Relic's (Company of Heroes/Dawn of War) games use F10 as well for menus. Seems to be an RTS thing?

Got Gears 4 from that place... never, ever again. Pain in the ass to uninstall it even (GOW 4).

Not sure what I was expecting, though, after owning a 360 and giving up on them for how poorly they treat customers.

Then it's all a conspiracy to take over the steam charts!

Edit: Game is heavily region locked, wonder if that's why there's multiples? One for EU, one for Asia, one for NA

Possibly? I tried it and refunded it last sale... (only played the coop) .. it felt very bland and uninspired.

Didn't try the SP though, which is supposedly Far Cry-ish, in an urban environment.
