I don't think you can do that, this is not a Steamworks game

I have Steam for some games, unfortunately, and you can basically add ANY game to Steam. Library -> (bottom left) +Add a Game -> Add Non-steam Game.

Only games that seem to have issue with this are very old games, ie. Fallout Tactics gives me issues when I try to Steamchat while playing in it.

This allows for Steam Chat capability on almost all games, BUT Steam Achievements are NOT enabled unless Valve decides to do this, for that particular game later on. I rarely look at Achievements, so this means little to me, but I guess some people could see this as a possible factor for Steam vs gog.com.

Still, these days Valve is pretty eager to add games, all the Humble Bundle games seem to be getting post-bundle integrated to Steam, etc, if you really can't live without Steam data tracking for some reason.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but:

Anybody who buys this game from any source but gog.com is a moron. This is such an obvious chance to show distaste for DRM, and the potential for high sales WITHOUT DRM, with no downsides, that there really is no counter argument to buying the game from gog.com as opposed to some other online retailer.

If you are one of those unfortunates who lacks the bandwidth for online distribution, then yes I understand why you may buy a disc version. Aside from those (relative) few...

If you can't live without Steam, you can always add the gog.com version to Steam. Unless Steam shocks the world and has this game for 75% off the day of release, not a single living soul should buy it through Steam.

I'm sounding like a gog.com shill probably, so let me state that it's my dislike/hatred for DRM that's causing the gog.com praise. Yes, Steam is DRM too.

*EDIT* If CD Projekt is smart, they will put SecuROM on the Steam/D2D versions as well, and advertise that fact prominently. More people urged to gog.com

I'm currently playing the beta, and it feels like an extremely watered down Diablo clone, but with very nice graphics. Also a slight possibility of Editor Addiction, as you gain more creatures and spend hours just editing them(mostly for visuals, few equipment options). I've already spent more time in the Editor than in the actual combat portion of the game, I suspect.

It feels way too easy, and none of the creatures have enough powers to be interesting very long, in my opinion. Variety comes from many creatures, I'd rather have WAY fewer creatures(max is 100 currently) with far more powers each. This could be ok, if you could swap creatures faster in combat, but it takes at least 30-60 seconds for the swap cooldown. There may be ways to decrease that cooldown this in the Inventory store, however.

Major Annoyance: EQUIPPING items costs in game currency (DNA). This is gained from killing enemies, but for some mind boggling reason it is spent any time you PUT GEAR ON YOUR CHARACTERS. This DNA currency is also used for buying items/unlocks in the Inventory store. Not sure why the hell they chose to implement this, it could conceivably really hamstring experimentation with the large number of creatures.

Minor Annoyance: The creatures(yours and enemy creatures) have Damage types, basically, and for some mind boggling reason, if your creature and the enemy creature are the SAME type, yours takes BONUS damage(you do not deal bonus damage in return). It seems like it should be exactly opposite, aka certain types deal Bonus damage to non-same types, but whatever. End result, 1 or 2 of your Creature Types will be more of a liability on any given world/zone.

Hrm this looks very interesting, too bad it's from Ubisoft, those soulless devils who deserve to punched in the face repeatedly.

Don't thank Valve for this. Frozenbyte, as part of the humble bundle, has released all their games in PC/Mac/Linux versions, DRM free through the third humble bundle.

Unsurprisingly, days later, Steam has the Mac versions available for download.

Wow, who the fuck is buying Elemental NOW? They are releasing a Standalone expansion shortly that supposedly fixes the number one problem with War of Magic, that it is mind numbingly boring.

On top of that, War of Magic is still full price on Impulse last time I checked...it boggles the mind. At least buy it from amazon or something where it is 50%+ off.

This will end badly. GameStop is the king of bullshit sales techniques, and you can pretty much kiss Impulse being any sort of competition to Steam in the future goodbye.

Impulse had been getting better too, what a shame.

Looks fun, hope there are a lot of weapon/mech configuration options in the final release.

This game is fairly interesting, I played the demo for about 4 hours, with a few characters. However the engine is basically from about 1997... graphics aside, you can seemingly only have 1 projectile in the air, or 1 multishot in the air at once, at least as far as my level capped guys seem to be allowed. Monster AI is pretty poor.

Skills are basically about 80% redundant. Any character needs a high damage low mana attack skill, a nice AOE skill or two, and maybe a few utility/buff abilities. However each class gets three groups of Skills, many of which overlap so much that most will end up being ignored.

However the most annoying thing has to be that every citizen in town is not only relying on your PC to protect them, but they also cannot even move around to get money or food. Every so often a message pops up: "So and so is starving in town! What's His Name is in debt, help him!"

Really? The game would be pretty good without these meaningless 10copper quests and if they got a better engine. I can accept low polygon models, randomly generated dungeon graphics, etc. but the basic combat is held back by the engine drastically.

Still, I am halfway convinced I should buy this game, just to help keep Soldak going, so they can survive as a company long enough to become drastically better at programming an engine, hire some people who can make one from scratch, or just license an appropriate engine.(Aka the engine from Drakensang, which is AMAZING on many levels, including graphically.)

This is the third trailer, I believe? The first one was shown during the Superbowl. Yes, that cost millions.

Hopefully they are well beyond alpha MP if they plan on releasing in the fall of this year, into closed beta.

Scripted single player campaigns are not where the BF3 money should have been going, especially with sequences as lame as that last BF3 sniper video.

Looks pretty good, but all info to date seems to indicate you no longer have control of a party of PCs/NPCs, as in the first two games.

Screenshots look pretty good, and I hope there IS some sort of resource gathering/wood chopping and the resultant peasant protection/abuse cycle that seems to be missing in the current RTS games(aside from SC2, which is a bit bleh).

The success of Dawn of War 2 really hurt RTS games as a whole, now every company wants a piece of either that simplified RTS pie, or the ridiculously simplified sub-genre of Heroes of Norrath/League of Legends/DoTA style games.

Bring back the glory days of EARLY Command and Conquer, Total Annihilation, etc.

Unfortunately since this is the same publisher/developer? who made Dungeons, this game is probably going to be watered down shit.
