Youtube's actually had that for any video marked as mature for years now. Granted, this is the first time I've seen it done for a game trailer myself.

I like that better than the "I was born on, January 1'st [Random Year Halfway Down the List]

Well, I much prefer the random birthday entering than an actual email I might not want spammed/sued. Neither method does anything at all to prevent underage people from seeing whatever, of course, but it's all about not getting sued these days.

Hrm, I would like to watch this trailer, however Youtube is asking for a login, as demanded by the uploader? Wtf is this bullshit? Do people actually log in to youtube now?

Oh, humanity. *shakes his head*

I remember the days when you could actually use a site without giving up an email address. Hell I used bluesnews for about 10 years before actually giving in and giving up an email address. But youtube? never, can't afford the potential lawsuits.

Unfortunately all of you guys are wrong, obviously this is another X-Com game, or perhaps the new re-imagining of Dungeon Keeper.

I instantly thought Blade Runner also, to be honest.

SO FUCKING WHAT?

Jesus.

The obvious response: So don't call it XCOM...

As for the mention of other X-Com clones, yes, I've played most of them, they are mediocre at best. For some reason every X-Com clone game is either full of bugs or has some horrible balance issue or something, or maybe it's just nostalgia getting in the way, but none of them are quality successors to the original.

X-Com clones:
1)UFO series: Aftermath, Aftershock, Afterlight(all buggy)

2)UFO Extraterrestrials(Unrelated to the UFO After* games, acceptable but almost a direct clone)

3)UFO Alien Invasion(freeware, open source, might be good before I die of old age, this one is the real long term hope, to be honest)

4)A couple of completely freeware or so low budget indie ones that are unplayable or have been in perpetual development

X-Com adaptations, aka what I would have wanted XCOM(2012) to be:

Silent Storm series (arguably awesome, but the developer is gone now)

Fallout tactics( actually a great game, but sort of a ripoff of FF Tactics too)

Peripatetic - adj. - walking or traveling about; itinerant (dictionary.com)

Peripatetic is not mutually exclusive from being story-focused.

That said, FUCK XCOM. These developers come off as completely lost in the interview. Alien invasion in 1962.. that will reshape the world utterly. They can't answer a single alternate history question. X-Com was an international organization, XCOM is apparently some American guys in hats, no base building, no intercepts, 3 PCs Mass Effect style (their words) instead of 8+, real-time not turn based, etc.

This...thing, has no relation whatsoever to X-Com.

It's nice that they realize the Diplomacy aspect of the game was a joke, but how about finishing up the expansion/sequel, Rebellion already?

I honestly think the Diplomacy stuff is inherently broken, even in multiplayer.

MMO 3rd person shooter, that has been renamed 3 times, has a website based in russia(currently down), also a console release, F2P?

Sounds legit and will no doubt be high quality.

Soo... did they make this game actually fun to play, or is it still boring as Hell(gate)?

Of all the issues last time around, the biggest one was that the game simply bored people to tears.

The one 'new' trailer I saw for the game was mostly recycled footage; it didn't exactly inspire confidence.

This actually looks pretty interesting. I am amazed at the literal explosion of Indie developers we are currently experiencing... I suppose we have the utter asshattery of the 'major' publishers to thank for this.

Let me mosey on over to the web page... WHAT THE FUCK 20 DOLLARS.(15 with discount, sure)

I was thinking 5-10 dollars, considering I just bought 5 arguably more advanced games last night for 5 bucks (buygamesnotsocks.com), but oh well.

1 Billion for peggle type games... I can totally believe it in this day and age. Hopefully they spend most/all of that money on whores and coke to snort off said whores, just to complete the circle of life.

Oh my god. As much as I love Zelazny's work, do not even mention it to these monsters, who would no doubt rape Amber, or This Immortal to utter shreds. I have already developed a nervous twitch, just thinking about some developer turning This Immortal into a horrible cover based shooter. *shudders*

Fuck Team Fortress 2. It is a joke, instead of a balanced, competitive team FPS. Why does this matter? Because Netquake TF, QWTF, even the regrettable TFC were all awesome, fun, competiviely balanced(sniper issues aside) games, not hat collecting, achievement whoring messes.

Old man complaining/reminiscing about the old days aside, I'm really looking forward to the medic video. The TF2 cgi videos have been amazing.

Gamersgate... is actually awesome. It's more in line with gog.com, in that you download the game, and have no client running in the background, than any of the more intrusive DRM/store schemes such as Steam or even Impulse, or the new EA Origin bullshit.

On top of that, Gamersgate has a ton of deals, and credit towards purchasing other games every time you buy something.

I bought Dead Space 2 pc from them the other day for $11.98 USD. Dead Space 2 is amazing, by the way. Now I just keep an eye out for their sales.

This post probably sounds like a total Gamersgate shill, but I'm kicking myself now for buying so many things on steam when I probably would have earned a few 'free' games by now on Gamersgate, and paid less.

Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, for all of their MANY flaws, at least had you controlling four to eight PCs most of the time. The worlds were far more open than Dungeon Siege 3, and there was no failed attempt to make a true rpg out of either game, as unfortunately Dungeon Siege 3 has. I could maybe tolerate DS3 if it had been called something else, but even then it's unfortunately just boring.

The control scheme is an insult to mankind, as well. At LEAST allow people to rebind keys, ugh.(Demo version, if the retail allows rebinding, that's a small plus)

To be fair, I've only played the demo, which was basically a very narrow path, with three enemy types, and a lot of loot that had almost no functional difference, piece to piece.
