Yeah their FAQ was pretty general, they warn that some games MAY require Steam/Desura at some point in one of the bundles, basically.

All the games in this current bundle (#2) can be played without Steam/Desura, as far as I can tell so far.

I think I'll keep an eye on their future bundles from now on, they seem eager to compete with Humble, price wise.

What the... The Humble Bundle has COMPETITION!

Most of these games look good, I think I'll buy this after some DRM research. I never heard of the first bundle in this series.

*EDIT* Not quite as good on the DRM front as HumbleBundle, some of their games use Steam or Desura? Oh well, still buying for Night Sky.

Just generic top 10 sales lists from Steam and the like, I take it? It figures, those shifty, online bastards. No doubt it's to hide their true income from tax agencies.

Only 2 million BF3 copies sold? Hrm maybe they won't be quite as dickish with future plans to sell maps as expansion packs? Oh wait too late.

Also, why do these analyses focus on retail(brick and mortar only I am assuming) instead of also counting online sales? Seems like they are purposely ignoring reality.

Animation Smanimation. Let me know when the GotY version hits the bargain bin.

By then the modding community will have set this game right.

Hrm, the graphics are a lot better in this than previous Serious Sams.

Still, it basically looks like any other Serious Sam game, gameplay wise.(with added melee animated kills)

They aren't charging 40-50 bucks for this, right?

This game is awesome. It's that simple. I've played it more than BF3, to be honest, even though you can't even really compare the two genres.

That said, various costumes... meh, I could care less. As long as all the missions are available on ALL platforms(for free if they are free on one), it's all good.

As far as the Halloween mission/costumes on PC, they were available on Open servers starting November 2nd. This was announced, but only on the Trendy forums, I had to go looking for it.

I only play open/local myself, as I keep getting disconnected from Trendy's Ranked servers, to the point that I can't even finish a map.

Meh, I'm still going to buy this game, most likely.

In comparison, Assassin's Creed series has some amazing animations, and that game is still boring as hell on consoles, and DRMed out the ass on PCs.(so I have no idea what it's like on PC. :D)

It makes me realize why I enjoyed Fallout 3/NV so much compared to Oblivion... exploding headshots. FO melee is about as bad as Oblivion.

In conclusion, Bethesda needs to add their exploding body part engine from the Fallout 3/NV games to Skyrim. Better animations are beyond their team.

I gave in and bought BF3, and indeed, it is very good.

Minor dislikes:

- 'Dirt' on my cameras inside tanks/AA vehicles... I get their attempt at gritty realism, but it is just annoying. I want to see a crystal clear view as I shoot enemy infantry in the face with a gatling gun/HMG, or turn enemy tanks into flaming roadblocks! (bloodthirsty smiley here)

- Chokepoint maps. As good as Operation Firestorm and a few other maps are, some of the ridiculous chokepoint maps (Operation Metro, that tunnel one with a few vehicles) are just laughable. I halfway think these are in the game just to grind for unlocks.

- Coop, while very interesting, has NO BUILT IN TEXT/VOICE CHAT. This seems like a shoddy port of a console feature. Not even text chat? Really? Multiplayer has it... Also, coop seems inordinately slow compared to multiplayer, regardless of comps involved. Obviously some of this is from AI routines, but still.

- Maybe it's just placement, but C4/explosives in general seem WAY stronger than in BFBC2, for example. 1 C4 destroying a full health tank? Lame. Still, tanks are beastly, so it was probably a balance decision.

The single player is of course a bad CoD ripoff, but the jet sequence is gorgeous enough that I almost forgive DICE. Eyegasm territory, and you don't even get to free fly. I can't wait for the single player tank sequence, when I eventually go back and finish up the singleplayer portion.

Yes, I get the gameplay > graphics argument. I still fire up BG2 occasionally, and I'm still playing various indie/humble bundle games that all have their various non-AAA graphics setups.

However, I still blame Minecraft for the veritable flood of new indie games that don't even bother to do graphics that would look out of place after about 1990. I'm looking at you, Terraria!

Voxels are still implemented primitively enough that Voxatron makes a bit of sense, I am just annoyed that my Humble Bundle track record will be interrupted because I literally could not tolerate playing this game.

Oh well, between this and the semi-fake voxel engines out there, maybe voxels are the future of graphics... again.

I love the Humble Bundles in general(I have bought all of them so far), but unfortunately this game is pure eye-cancer to me. I had to stop watching the trailer, it's that painful.

I blame Minecraft for this tomfoolery with retro 8-bit graphics!

That's a nice idea, but it doesn't work in practice because you get metric tons of "repair hammers", so degradation becomes utterly meaningless and nothing more than a chore.

That's a problem with implementation, not the concept of degradation itself. If they wanted to make degradation more meaningful, they could just remove the hammers and force you to repair your stuff at workbenches, ala Dead Island. Or they could make the hammers very rare. Or some combination of the two.

People are too quick to dismiss concepts and mechanics based on poor implementations, even when the fundamental ideas behind them are solid. Degradation can add a lot of depth to a game, as long you implement and balance it properly. Sadly, Bethesda sucks at all things pertaining to balance.

Personal opinion here, of course, but repairing weapons is never fun, in any game, to me. Regardless of whether it's supposed to be survival horror or 'old school' rpg or whatever, it just takes me away from doing the fun stuff, to do a menial, repetitive chore.

I'm glad there is no repair (still none, right?) in Skyrim.

Obsidian hired Jorge Oscuro, the guy who made Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, one of the most popular leveling fixes for Oblivion. And I think his handywork is fairly evident in the game, in that it's set up almost exactly the same way as Oblivion. Stick to the roads, and you're safe, but start straying and you'll get your ass handed to you in a hurry.

Ah, I did not know this. Good to hear that Oscuro's hard work got him gainful employment... I enjoyed the hell out of Fallout:NV compared to Oblivion(which I still have yet to finish, been bored to quitting a few times).

*EDIT* Obligatory: wait, is this the new card game from the Minesweeper guy?

Hrm, a nice side scrolling Castlevania game on the Trine 2 engine would be sick.

I finally finished Trine 1 after they patched it to 1.9 or so, it's great. Although, in hindsight the end level is about three to four times as any of the previous levels, easily...

All that said, I'm leaning towards pre-ordering also, even though my DRM free Trine 1(Humble Bundle) is looking pretty sweet compared to the possible Steam version of the sequel on my comp.

Hrmm, as much as I want Trine 2(which is quite a lot), I have no desire to play the beta version, at all.

Finish up testing this game, removing bugs etc. and I look forward to playing the polished, FINAL version!

DoW2 is an insult to the concept of RTS games.

Take away base building if you must(and think HARD before you do that), but don't dumb down the rest of the game and allow so few units that the game becomes trivial. Fake RTS players already have DotA/LoL style games to waste the world's bandwidth on.

*Sheds a tear for the former makers of Homeworld(1 and 2) and DoW 1.

These guys are obviously new to the software development game, and have made some major mistakes. The internet being what it is, of course random anonymous assholes flame them and the Indie Stone guys respond horribly.

Moral of the story, the actual game developers should never talk directly to customers. Only ass kissing or flame wars will result. Use forum moderators/impersonal surveys/PR people, etc.

Honestly though, it'll probably help these guys in the long run, learning these lessons the hard way. The game is interesting, and if they can get their minds right they can still release a great product.

I look forward to the retail of Project Zomboid, as well as their next game.

I remember when this game was just a little freeware UDK project...look how big it is now! *sniff*

Although they keep raising the price, and pushing back the release date... it's like they are a mainstream studio!

(Originally it was listed at 9.99[Gamersgate], now 14.99, and release held back for months)
