Interesting, but I am apprehensive about how watered down the PC version might end up being now. Oh well, interesting tactic by the developers.

Still looking forward to this game though, Unreal tech demo version back in the day was fun as hell.

Looks excellent, but yes, as others have said, the BF series has been all about the multiplayer, for most people. Where is the multiplayer footage, hopefully including massive amounts of vehicles?

Scripted CoD/MoH ripoffs will probably sell to the console crowd, so I can see why they are in a hurry to post these sort of clips.

Wow, free to play? You mean like every non-MMO that has ever been released, ever? This is a great new feature!

Maybe this does indeed make it easier for game developers to add DLC/additional content, but come on, truth in advertising, maybe? Somehow I assume this feature will lead to more fractured games with DLC 'addons' aka missing content you have to pay for later, than anything else.

I have yet to buy Diplomacy as well, and the second hand reports I keep getting about ridiculously buffed pirate raiders seem like I should wait for the patch, at the very least...

*EDIT* went and bought Diplomacy, the pirates, though tougher, are still free experience so far, not sure about how they scale with their upgrades, but nobody is paying them. I've used like 1 Diplomacy upgrade, and about 50 economy/warfare upgrades.

Diplomacy <<<< Genocide in SoaSE still, it seems.

Lofty goals of competing with Diablo 3 aside, this article explains why this 'sequel' has gone away from the core Dungeon Siege component: an entire group of PCs you can build and control as one player, to the 'One Somewhat Predefined Character' model.

This game was originally(no idea how far along they were) an action RPG with nothing related to Dungeon Siege, in development by Obsidian, that got shanghaied and remade into Dungeon Siege III for some marketing droid reason. What a shame.

Hey, this looks amusing and fun, but FIX YOUR GAME ALREADY. Multiplayer is still plagued by people falling through the world in certain situations that have been posted to death on the Arrowhead forums, and still it hasn't been fixed.

Just tried a multiplayer arena game of v1.3.5.2 last night, we got to round 11 in The Glade before everybody's framerate dropped to about 5, and people fell through the map and died. Instant rage quits for most followed. There were no more monsters on the screen at that point than any other round, so no obvious clue as to the cause either.

Hrm, I love SoaSE, and still put in the hours for a good game now and then, but what the hell is with these "Standalone Expansion" non-sequels that companies keep releasing?

Don't take this as a pure complaint, I will most likely buy this(hopefully it is expansion price not full game price), but any "Standalone Expansion" usually means:

"Same Engine and underlying technology, with some new graphics/sounds."

Considering there is no single player campaign other than skirmish missions(which are great, admittedly), it seems more like an a tool for forcing people onto Impulse:Reactor than anything else, and I'm not in the mood for a more invasive form of an Impulse store/DRM, to be honest. The lack of running an Impulse client in the background is the ONLY advantage it has over Steam at the moment, being a bit buggier and games usually at full price vs Steam's frequent sales.

And of course both of those suck compared to GoG.com, but that's another topic.

God dammit, I have lost even more faith in humanity, after seeing ANYONE buy Bulletstorm, let alone enough to make it the number 1 seller on steam. Dragon Age 2 is a similar disappointment, but oh well.

Rofl, that video Beamer posted is grotesque.

Even worse, his entire team had 100-300 kills each, the other team had about 10 or so each. I assume it was on consoles, otherwise any sane player on the team getting raped would have left.

Still, such fixed spawn points with no anti-spawn camping setup are bound to be exploited by average pub server jackasses in any game.

Initially I was interested in this game and this company, now they seem like any one of the hundreds of busted dot com companies from like 10-15 years ago.

A pity; the game looked good, but now they are pulling this shit because they are apparently running out of money.

Hate to kick a game company when they are down but yes, this is arguably one of the least informative trailers ever, and pretty bad even for that shock value/curiosity value sort of trailer.

I believe the part about a shoe string budget, but 8 months? Rofl, work on your game, show some in game footage video capped in 5 minutes, done. Don't spend time on this live action bullshit that has almost no relation to your actual game product.

I can only hope they have a bomb ass game after all is said and done, to make up for this sort of marketing bullshit that seems to becoming increasingly popular.

Some of these comments make me wonder if those people even played DA:O, but whatever, human memory is a finicky thing apparently.

I played the demo through Steam, attempted to keep an open mind. Dialogue wheels seem to dumb down the dialogue options. Also, Mass Effect style, the dialogue does NOT match at all with the wheel option. I personally dislike this style, but some people love it, oh well. I would rather have more dialogue choices and no character voice, but maybe I am in the minority in that.

Inventory was locked, BUT you could still open it by hitting "I" and see that this is also dumbed down(simplfied for no reason): apparently you are the chosen one because you are the only person in Ferelden who can wear gloves and a helmet. Every other character has a weapon, shield, belt, rings and "Clothes" slot, while you get additional chest, gloves, hat, feet slots. Why? Was it that hard to put gloves on a party npc? Mind boggling.

Combat has changed, pretty dramatically in my opinion. Tactical positioning seems to be removed, you cannot place characters and have them stand there, they instantly run to whichever character you have highlighted. Bug/feature, you cannot group select multiple characters and have them run to mouse selected spots. One or more of the characters will get locked/stand still. Two handed swords either weigh nothing, or these are the strongest people in the universe. Acceptable I guess, although I will miss dual wielding warrior setups, vs dual wielding rogue jokers. Missing top down tactical view also, makes bouncing back and forth from ranged npcs to melee npcs increasingly annoying with the chase cam style view.

Models: There seems to be only 1 model for melee darkspawn. I thought DA:O was bad with like 5-6 models.. this is pure console game memory conservation at its worst. Ranged darkspawn differ slightly, but only 1 model for them as well. Ogre is changed, for the worse, but that's just my opinion. Bioware seems to have dropped the ball here, on the PC version. Practically every modern game has variable models for different copies of the same level enemy. This would be less noticeable, but every 3 seconds there is a closeup of a darkspawn getting butchered by some npc.

Game crashed when I alt tabbed, initially no sound in the cut scenes/dialogue, until I clicked on Force Stereo and restarted. Default to 5.1? Not everybody has 5.1 speaker setups, but oh well.

TLDR: Some bugs, simplified models, weightless two handed swords, consolization, Dragon Effect dialogue style.

Looking forward to a Steam sale of this in a year or more. At about 5 dollars or so.

Agreed, SoaSE 2, or shut the fuck up. As a runner up, Elemental: War of Magic on sale for 99 cents would be acceptable.

The Walking Dead, and Fables? Wow, two comics they will no doubt ruin as games utterly, and Walking Dead is not that great of a comic to begin with.

Fables... they can easily go so wrong trying to turn that into any sort of action game.

After watching the trailer a few times again, and then the 'in chronological order' trailer, it looks like the parents are to blame once again, in a horror film/setting. Why were they hiding in a room, while the daughter is forced to run through a dark hallway being chased by all the zombies? Then the father finally picks her up/grabs an axe?

Pfft. Separating, no doubt to have sex(sending the kid off to the pool or rec lounge), biggest mistake in any horror film, everybody knows that. It practically guaranteed their zombification.

Offtopic: Only John Carpenter's "The Thing" has no stupid horror film decisions, and so Hollywood has been forced to ruin it with a prequel. GG, humanity.

Wtf, this trailer is AWESOME. However, trailers this good are almost always made by some outside studio, and barely related to the game, and more importantly, the gameplay, at all.

What the hell? This game looks fun, nice graphical style(reminds me of Super Dodge Ball from the 80s, a little), and free to play?

What's the catch, only available in Luxembourg? In game ads? Free to play, after you pay 50 bucks?

Fuck Steam, seriously.

It's barely tolerable as drm, and admittedly very convenient as a store/in game messaging service, but surely it's not a selling point? Also it has to be killing other services, D2D, GG, GoG, Impulse, to have all these games come out that require Steam on top of their service. Monopolies are bad, even in the formative stages, people.

I could maybe rejoice for the announcement of Steam, IF and only if it meant there was no chance of any other DRM/GFWL nonsense attached to the game.

As it is now, it's basically: "ok, and what else is wrong?"

This has been my daily negativity post.

ps. fuck the Duke Nukem franchise.
