Hrm, still waiting for a patch that makes this game not a complete disgrace to the original.

For shame, Relic.

Wtf, DLC? Is the core game fixed yet? I assume the answer is still no, and it's still full price. Still waiting...

holy SHEEEIITTT.

Never mention pay to play and Diablo in the same sentence!

I hope Diablo 3 is great as well, and I hope it comes out before another 2-3 years go by.

But seriously do NOT ever mention paying any sort of monthly fee for that series. Activision/Blizzard is greedy enough to do it if they think suckers will pay for it.

*EDIT* And yes, I am sure Diablo 3 is already slated to get doled out in a similar fashion to Starcraft 2, or worse.

Hrm, I played the free version/tech demo for this awhile back, it was fairly amusing.

This is the second one of the Unreal 3 demo games to go retail in the past month(the other one was that combo tower defense/3rd person coop game, the name escapes me), congrats semi-indie developers!

*EDIT* Dungeon Defenders, http://dungeondefenders.com/ , my bad, Trendy Entertainment.

Ok, I've already written off the expansions/other parts of Starcraft 2 as a complete waste of money.

However, 2012 as a release target for SC2 part 2?!?

Does that mean Diablo 3 is going to be a 2013(or later) release?

I'm assuming they won't release anything in 2011 to make sure they get the most possible money out of Cataclysm...

To be fair, these are outdated complaints.

From Blizzcon, going on right now basically(10/22/2010)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_Z7mTfLV5g

No more spending just enough attribute points in STR and DEX, then the rest in HP, they've gone with a Passive and Active Skill system.

It seems like a usable system so far, from the video. Passive skills, or Traits as they are now called, approximately 90, and you will get around 30 points to spend on those. At the same time, you can have 7 active skills, with various levels of points per skill, drawn from a completely separate set of spendable points.

I was a bit apprehensive the last time I had heard the no attribute points thing also, but it's sounding better.

I am probably sounding like a Blizzard shill at this point, so I'll say "Boo!" to giant shoulder pads!

EDIT: Grammar'd.

Not really related directly to this post, but my gut feeling is this game is going to fail, in an epic sense.

Bioware's focus on story, with (possibly)tons of dialogue, even fully voiced as they plan on doing, is just not going to mesh with the "Speed Through Content For Max Loot" crowd that is basically 90% of the MMO player base.

I hope SW:tOR turns out to be awesome, but I suspect it'll be old MMO gameplay mixed with mediocre story elements that people ignore as they click through everything, max out their level, then quit when their free month is up.

Discuss.

Yes, it's that slippery slope. A request for another Game Option turns into a completely watered down entire game.

Easier answer would be some mods for the game, maybe.
http://menofwarwiki.referata.com/wiki/Men_of_War_-_Mods_list

Doesn't seem to be any mods for weapon ammo yet, but I'll keep looking.

I've only had the game for a little over a week, and I'm gradually becoming accustomed to spending some APM simply keeping everybody well supplied with ammo, and to be fair there are no bases to be built/maintained, so perhaps it isn't so bad. Also I discovered you can transfer MUCH quicker with the old double click, as opposed to dragging each box/clip over.

It seems like it's also good to not become so attached to your soldiers that you refuse to lose even 1(and then restart/reload), the campaign seems to give you sufficient reinforcement options. I was spending a lot of time trying to go through with 0 fatalities, that seems to be impossible the further you go.

The micromanagement is part of the fun for people, who like this series. If you do not like micromanagement, look elsewhere. But do not demand another casual-slaughter of a fine niche game

Agreed. Would hate to see this dumbed down. Remember MoW:Vietnam is being made by the publisher so it's anyone's guess if it will be as good as MoW. Assault Squad is the real sequel.

Micromanagement to the point of absurdity is a mistake, in my opinion. Do you need 800 or 900 APM to resupply ammo to your soldiers on like the 4th mission of Men of War? I forget the name, but it's basically a Hold the Line mission, Germans advancing on your line of Russian troops, who, when running out of ammo, have to either sit there, and be useless, or brave machine gun fire to run back and manually pick up bullets out of the ONE, destructible ammo chest in the map. It's not so bad with SMG and machine gunners, who for some reason usually have 2-3 boxes of ammo, but the rifle men only start with literally 10 rounds...

As I said, I doubt it would kill the game to have a command button for "pick up ammo only" to at least speed up that process, or god forbid, a toggle for infinite ammo on non-explosive weapons. But opinions will differ.

This only really becomes a hassle on the timed missions vs unending swarms of attackers, of which there have been two so far out of the 5 I've played in the first game. Maybe it becomes less of an issue later on.

No timer = I gleefully organize each soldier with main and backup weapons, bandages, grenades, anti-tank, etc. Meanwhile I stock up the officers with captured German MGs and commence Nazi annihilation.

Timer = work to preserve the few specialist weapons, then basically position the riflemen then let them run out of ammo and die trying to resupply.

Hrm maybe I just hate timers in games.

The Men of War series could have been amazing, but it's held back in my opinion by the insane amount of micro required simply to give each of your troops enough ammo, especially in the first game.

Why oh why do your Russian soldiers start with like 5-10 bullets? I understand this game is supposed to be more simulation style than arcade, but what that ends up meaning is that in every mission you spend about 30 minutes or more, simply gathering ammo from dead bodies or boxes or whatever. A break from history towards playability would help this series a lot. Also in missions where you have 40-50 soldiers, it becomes impossible to keep them supplied with ammo vs the usual unlimited numbers of enemies. Usually this is by design, but I hate getting casualties not because my defense setup was poor, but because running out to gather ammo(and bandages) takes too much real life time due to the interface, and almost every mission is timed.

An option for unlimited ammo would have greatly improved this game, at least for infantry. Tank main gun rounds, artillery etc. should have a limit, simply because of destructible terrain. Failing this, then a command to make a given soldier or group of soldiers loot nearby corpses/boxes for correct ammo then go back to their position. Not sure if this is present in Red Tide, but I doubt it.

That being said, I picked up the Men of War/Men of War:Red Tide when it was on sale for 75% off on Steam, and I have been greatly impressed by the game, it's a real challenge on Normal or Hard, and ammo issues aside, the game is really engrossing.

TL,DR: If you think most RTS games are becoming too streamlined, too easy, too micro free, check out the Men of War series, basically.

PS. To save yourself unnecessary rage, turn on the "Hold Position" flag on all your units. Otherwise they are positively suicidal. All movement should be manual, and default position should be prone, there are few shots that aren't near fatal shots.

DLC nonsense aside, I will probably pass on this game, as all the information released indicates it'll be even more consolized than DA:Origins.

What a shame, Bioware is truly gone, all that's left is EA.

I shudder to imagine what an expensive mess The Old Republic will turn out to be.

I played the closed beta of this a bit... it could eventually be an awesome game. Right now, or at least last time I logged in, a few weeks, ago, very little was actually implemented, only 2 classes, and though it may mean nothing to most people, you couldn't even jump.

However the combat is hilarious!

I may check back on this game once it's fully up to speed with the live Korean version, but that looks like it'll take a year or two.

I find this game somewhat amusing, but I'm also a little annoyed at it. It has easily one of the better aiming systems in any FPS, really good weapon mechanics in general, but because of the perks system every server becomes a Perk grinding mess, until people grind to level 6 and start to relax a little.

I'm not sure what an easy fix would be, but a shift in map design to maybe lead people to move more than find a few good spots to defend would be ideal. L4D mode, yes, but L4D without the jokishly inaccurate weapons. Oh well, maybe Killing Floor 2 will be the ultimate zombie head shooting, British slang using, mix of great weapon design and ridiculously unrealistic zombie horde game.

Considering recent Blizzard related news, if it's all to be believed, I am sure they are in no rush to release, with the SC2 money they just made, as well as that monthly WoW check that's larger than most nations' yearly gross income. Add the Cataclysm gold rush they will experience in December...

It could be awhile before Blizzard runs low enough on cash to bother releasing D3. 2013+ ?

This game sounds like a ripoff of the 'classic'(to a certain generation!) film Red Dawn, with Koreans in place of the Soviets/Mexicans, of course.

WOLVERINES !!!!

Somehow I feel the game will fail to be as memorable.
