I wonder why crafting materials matter? There are only a few types, and it shouldn't require more than a handful of bytes to store how many you have...

If you craft, for example, the Armor Patches for clothing, it can be a random quality, white to legendary yellow, with the 'common' crafting pattern. So craft 10 times, get 2 blue, 3 green, 5 white, etc. Then you get people crafting 500+ times just to level crafting, and their inventory is full of that crap, so they sell all their greens and under to NPCs or the vending shops, and apparently those sold items never get deleted... there goes the save file size, apparently.

If they actually mean the generic materials.. that's really crazy, unless the game is just recording the position change on the map for every item you picked up ever (I think it is for some item types), also leading to bigger save file sizes. I don't see any of the teal 'Crime in Progress' encounters respawning, so I think all the item status information for every one of those bottles, guns, materials, etc. at those places are saved in the main save file.

Somewhere, there is going to have to be some garbage collection to keep saves under control.

Sheesh, how do you say "ambulance chaser" in Polish?

I'd say this is without merit, but then again the Polish legal system seems weird as hell, CDPR had to pay out to the Witcher author awhile back, even though in most countries he would have had no case.

Don't get the draw of these games. Do you guys like games like this, They Are Billions, et al? Are people that play these RTS fans too?

I love RTS games, TAB is very good, albeit kinda repetitive eventually once you get the hang of the units/buildings/AI, and I do like some good Tower Defense games every so often. This game, Defense Grid, is one of the better TD games honestly, although TD games (especially DG) are more like puzzle games than a real RTS. Units come out in the same pattern for the level, so if you lose and replay you know exactly how they are going to come out the next time, unlike(*EDIT*) more random RTS games obviously.

Tower Defense, DotA style games, are all RTS lite, nobody is going to argue against that. They can still be fun though!

There's probably a subset of TD fans that actively hate regular RTS games though.

*EDIT* Autocorrect typo.

Holy shit, you were actually able to place an order for a 3080 and a 3070!? And possibly actually receive a 3070!? From Amazon.. amazing. anytime I look(which admittedly, is not often) they are all sold out, even third party sellers.

Actually for upgrading spending a ton of money is the easier method, where you craft some lower quality guns (I usually make nekomatas), sell them for a profit, buy all the higher quality (purple/orange) materials and upgrade your gear. I have been doing this a fair bit and my most recent save file is at 4.83, so a smidgen worried if this an issue that I'll run into with a bloated save file through crafting.

So apparently crafting+selling is a no go, currently.

I wonder if picking up random Junk, alcohol, food items, etc. and selling all of that also eventually wrecks your save file. My latest save is up to 4.24 MB, and all I've done today is some random blue encounters, and sold all the crap I picked up. Ideally it'll be fixed before I cross the 6MB threshold.

Of course he is, but you'd never convince his cult of that. His wife is a straight up honey pot - now that's he been used up she'll be out the door Jan 21st. Regardless, this couldn't have happened without the greed, laziness, and ineptitude of both government and private corporations. This could have happened just as easily on anyone else's watch.

I was talking more about Trump's lack of response, and a lack of a response(nationally) to that lack of response. I can't even imagine the shit that would have been said if certain other presidents acted in this way. As far as inept government agencies and corporations, or at least unwilling to spend IT dollars, yes, not a surprise.

This sort of thing sucks, but now we know, at least. I checked my saves, they are all around 4MB, after 60+ hours playing, at the last quest in the main quest line, doing side quests. So it's probably a problem if you try to 100% the game.

Supposedly it's because every item location in game is being saved? I guess we'll find out when they fix it in a few weeks, until then, don't do every quest possible one one character.

I wouldn't worry about doing quests and other normal gameplay. The Reddit poster says that crafting was his main source of money (huge waste of time if you ask me, when hacking minigames and loot are so plentiful), so for that you're probably looking at generating thousands upon thousands of extra items which the game somehow keeps track of, I guess. Someone else quotes a response from support where they basically say not to do that.

Yeah I saw the thing about crafting, but was unclear (at least in the tidbit I read) was whether the saves STILL got large if you destroyed most of those items (or sold them, etc.) The crafting and item systems need an overhaul anyway, but apparently some people are crafting a ton of armor patches to get high end ones (it's semi random) and I guess a lot of lower end ones get made during that. As far as the quests go, I loot everything possible when I do any quest/area, so I was wondering if every pickup is recorded, aka mega save files even without crafting. Looking at my saves, they are actually at 4.2MB as of today.

Props to the developers then. Because despite the crunch and other issues, Save for the plethora of bugs & crashes lots of folks appear to be suffering, the game itself is a masterpiece. Once these issues are solved, the game will go on to be a timeless classic, of that I have zero doubt.

Seriously. I feel quit bad for the console people(especially on older consoles) who are left hanging, but the game itself is impressive now, it'll be amazing in 6 months to a year, even without mods. I do feel like CDPR simply tried to do much in one game though, I'm not sure they could have completed all the initially imagined content in another 2-3 years, really.

Yes
That's exactly what i meant.

I am sure you and I, and quite a few people could handle that delay, but I am not sure CDPR could handle being that late to the game after the new consoles launched, especially if the board made stupid promises to Sony and MS. We'll probably never know the full scope of those contracts, but I'm sure they didn't say: "Release the game any year you want, pfft, your choice"

Ehhh.... does that mean delay the game until December 2021? I mean, after a certain amount of time, all that advertising money is wasted, all their lined up deals with the consoles are wasted, etc. etc.

I'm sure there was a huge push, financially and otherwise, to get the game out the door.

That said, I'm at the last quest, doing side quests, and yes, there are quite a few bugs. It'll probably take 6 months of patches to get rid of all these minor bugs on PC, and who knows how long to fix the console versions. More importantly, some systems, most notably the item crafting/upgrade system and the police spawning system, could use major reworks, from a fun/usability standpoint. As it is now, items are 'fine' but they could be ten time better, and unless you have 18-20 point into Crafting/Engineering/Tech, you are not going to be able to keep your favorite Iconics and Legendaries from early game usable into late game. You can still BEAT the game with lower level items, but they will be decidedly lower level compared to stuff you find later. Insane power levels in any tree is kind of a bonus in my opinion, but I will say that combat got markedly easier once you get deep into almost any of the skill trees.

Reading various forums, plenty of people have completed the game, with a variety of skill setups. Overall, the game is very playable, and it is fun, in my opinion. It'll get patched, people need to calm the fuck down. It'll also get modded, probably more than any game ever, so there will be a ton awesome changes to the weaker systems, even if CDPR does nothing. Too bad about the console players, but they are getting their refunds if they can't wait.

I loved Death Stranding, but the way the game ends the story completely drains any desire I might have had to go back and play more. Especially with the end-game character.

Cool for people who are just getting into DS though!

I would love a completely single player mode, or even the distributed online mode they have now, but with an option where your structures DON'T degrade... after the main storyline of course. Just so I could finish 100% rebuilding the entire US if the desire arose.

Well, the game is fucking massive, so it does not surprise me that they could not get rid of all the bugs. Graphical and sound bugs get played up a little much, and yes I agree with you, the AI could be a lot better. I'm not sure how they will avoid screen-pop style vanishing background npcs though, that's more a hardware/RAM issue than anything else. All of these open world games do it some extent and just try to hide it.

The teleporting cops thing basically just made me avoid killing civilians at all costs; it's the most jarring of the shortcuts for sure. The police don't seem to drop anything useful either, zero reason to fight them.

I'm going to finish this buggy version of the game, then play it again in a year or two, when it's been patched and DLCed and modded into some final, epic form. I do feel a pretty strong sense of urgency to resolve the main storyline, so credit to their writers for that. Also, ... actually nevermind, it'd be a spoiler.

I cannot fucking wait for a mod that lets you KEEP your stolen cars... god. Some of the gangs have the most beautfiul custom painted versions of the stock cars you can buy, but they can get blown up or vanish if you go too far away... so aggravating! I expect a Garage/Stolen Car Permanence will be one of the first mods or DLCs made though.

*EDIT* reading their update, people will be furious upon release that Legendary affixes are random, rofl. That'll get rolled back to fixed legendary affixes pretty quickly, I'd think.

I believe that's what Uniques are for. I skimmed the update, maybe I missed something.

I agree with your thoughts that Blizzard will push something out the door that's probably pretty fun and engaging. I also believe the game will not hit its potential until 2-3 years after release, as it was for Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. Both previous entries needed their expansion and a lot of patchwork afterwards to get the game to a good, even great place. V1.10 didn't land till nearly 2.5 years after Lord of Destruction launched, for example.

You're right; about the Uniques, and yes I agree with the slow patching process to 'real release' status a few years later. As far as the Legendaries, we've had other ARPGs, and I want to say even Diablo 3 initially, where you end up having 10 Legendary shields of the same name in your inventory, some garbage, some amazing, due to which random legendary affix and at what amount they get. I know, Blizzard wants some of that farming grind, but if the Legendaries are extremely rare in the first place, and then you have additional RNG to get the right roll on top of that... it will frustrate many players. Of course this problem is for like 2023, so not a huge deal right now.

This does make me quite curious about the actual game though. Hopefully it comes out somehwere eventually.
