I played a little bit of this... I may be coming to the end of my Div 2 addiction.

It's better than TU11 in some ways, but the sheer grind associated with the Optimization station makes me just want to uninstall. It's probably going to be mathematically faster to just farm and use the Recalibration station instead of ever using the Optimization station.

The Summit is bland and annoying, the recycled content has just been recycled yet again for this 'Season....' it feels like Massive/Ubisoft have definitely given up on Division 2 and just have a small team of 3rd stringers working on it now, unfortunately.

I assume all their real resources are going towards Division 3 now.

Uh, BLAZE OF FUCKING GLORY.

No question, make background NPCs be more complex over time, but let's not lose sight of the reason to play most games, to do fantastic stuff. Sim people, keep your mundane Sim dreams out of games that are literally unbelievable, on purpose.

There will be better and better Farm Simulators or that Driving Trucks Across America game, etc. for people to live out virtual jobs, but holy shit, it's almost as bad as the 'Rogue-like' people infecting every single indie game with their repetitive nonsense. Let fantastic games be fantastic, not filled with busy work.

I recently played GTAV, and was amazed how much wasted crap was in there. I got about 40-50ish hours out of the main storyline and some side missions, and did basically none of the yoga/dancing/whatever filler that was around. It's in the same vein(to me) as Ubisoft making 1000 points of interest to click on/climb whatever, into otherwise interesting games. Wasted filler to pad playtime.

Your mileage may vary.

PS. I started to watch this trailer but it looked spoilerish, definitely from some cutscenes. Nope!

Hrm, lame, I tried to click on the Extras through GOG Galaxy just now, and they are both links to cyberpunk.net, and it asks for a username and password. Is that supposed to be my GOG account? Doesn't look like it, and that isn't listed on the cyberpunk.net/goodies page as what should be happening.

Bug? I have Cyberpunk 2077, but it's not installed on this PC, but obviously GOG Galaxy is. Seems like an unnecessary hoop anyway, all the other digital goodies for pretty much any other game on GOG have no DRM past the normal login, just download.

Ammo shortage? You mean ammunition? There's an ammunition shortage? Where? The world is drowning in arms and ammo. I categorically refuse to believe there's an ammunition shortage, especially in America of all places.

You have no idea how crazy it is down here then. People have bought ALL the ammo. You cannot find any ammo for almost any price, anymore, in the USA. Last time I looked a month ago, every place was sold out online, even at 2-5x the normal price for pretty much any caliber.

I don't know what exactly people think is going to happen, but whatever does, a lot of people are going to have thousands of rounds on hand.

Bitcoin and other crypto-coins would be cool, if they weren't basically false anonymity, a magnet for crime and so computationally intensive they are massively speeding up global warming. Anytime I hear people talking positively about crypto-currency I get angry and depressed.

I'm assuming various Chinese and Nordic provinces are running factory/warehouse sized coin-mining farms? Literally pouring out CO2 to produce virtual, rapidly shifting in value coins? Even after bitcoin/Ethereum/Tether/Whatever_Coin_02 finds all their primes, there will be the next set of crypto-currencies to burn fuel for.

So am I, this is not something that just randomly occurs to people. You know if you have some kind of ailment that causes Epilepsy. This person had to have known they were susceptible to it.

We're starting to meander away here, but, no, not everybody with epilepsy is aware they are at risk until they actually have a seizure, sometimes into their 20s or 30s. There is no catch-all test for children/infants for potential photosensitive seizures in later life. It's also not like people expose all kids/teens to flashing lights until some of them actually have a seizure either.

This has been a thing for 20 years or so. I thought everyone took this kind of thing into account.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised and saddened. CD Projekt RED isn't some random newcomer, I swear seizure warnings have been on tv/film/games for at least as long as jdreyer says above, it certainly feels like it was at least 20 years ago that the Simpsons was making jokes about Japanese Seizure Bot animes.

I'm honestly embarrassed for CDPR that they didn't either A) never have flashing light bullshit in their game, B) put warnings on splash screens at the start. People can die from seizures, and this is NOT a new thing that suddenly just became a problem. This is an extremely stupid and dangerous mistake in design and judgement.

*EDIT* Grammar.

In regards to the actual game: I bought it probably a year ago on some sale on GOG... it's okay, I wasn't overly impressed or disgusted with it. Camera controls feel a little rigid for some reason, and I haven't finished the game; it got sent to the backburner/backlog pile.

Free is definitely worth trying it though, for newcomers.

Well, not too much of a surprise, bugs on a GIGANTIC game.

I'm a little surprised the download is 59GB, I thought they were saying like 75GB or something?

I'll try it out when it goes live, if it's still buggy as hell, I'll wait a week.

Wow, this is like the second or third time I can think of, off the top of my head, that the US government has given billions to ISPs to lay fiber. Every time so far, they've taken the money and done basically nothing. At least this time they are keeping expectations low, and saying they will only bring 'broadband' to 5.2 million homes? Lol!

Luckily the FCC has classified 'broadband' to be basically DSL and faster, so don't expect much actual fiber this time around either. Hell, they will probably sneak some satellite internet in there, these days.

I'm guessing Bluesnews mostly isn't the target audience for GeForce NOW, but if anybody is using it here, how bad is the bandwidth usage? I'm assuming quite high?

All of these streaming services seem basically useless in most of the US, due to bandwidth caps.

Your wife has a Steam account so she can gift it to you?

Actually, she does, buuuuut she is no gamer and that account hasn't been used in a long time. Way back when we first got married and I had delusions of her being a cool gamer girl.

Be careful of what you wish for. I introduced my ex to Everquest. I made a monster.
"Hey ya wanna go see the new Spider-Man movie that opened this weekend down at Disney?"
"Well I would but we've been camping this spawn for 8 hours in hopes of getting an item that has a 10% drop rate one Friday a month, and then after that I'm 4 boxing (playing 4 accounts) so me and 2 other people can do a guild raid"
"Oh well what about tomorrow?"
"We are camping another spawn, but if it doesn't take all day then that would be fine"
*sigh*

Wtf, you deliberarely introduced somebody to Everquest? Why not just put a lit crack pipe into their mouth, and call it a day?

Well... I liked to see a floor. No reason to tax the first $20k per person. And some kind of similar base for businesses varied by number of employees (only full time employees with benefits count). And truthfully, I don't know if the economics behind such a plan would work well. I'm fine on taxing the churches though.

Yeah, unfortunately as appealing as a flat tax would be for a lot of people, the poor would get inordinately punished by it, and of course the rich would just laugh it off. I'd love to see major tax reform start with loophole/exemption closing, a LOT more funding for the IRS, and persecution of offshore tax havens.

The USA had effective taxing in the 40s and 50s, when the extremely wealthy (billionaires, etc.) paid up to 90% in taxes. It's probably a pipe dream now, but going back to that sort of tax bracketing could probably save this country.

I do like Dragon Age tho, I just hope that this next entry is next-gen, and not more cross-gen bullshit. Wake me up when cross-gen ends.

So you don't ever want to be woken up?

Any of these big name, AAA games, looking for max possible revenue, are going to be multi-platform, cross-gen, current-hardware favoring, you name it. At best you can expect a new age Crysis type game to demand nothing but the most advanced hardware, and it'll just end up being a benchmark for a year or two.

All of that said, more on topic, I hope Dragon Age 4 is a lot more like Dragon Age: Origins, but I expect it to be depressingly consolish and bland.

Good. No sane person is going to a theater, at least in the USA, for another 8 months to a year at least.

Hopefully all the studios just put their stuff on Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Amazon Prime, etc. for no additional fees. Surely some money is better than none? Especially when no one has to FUCKING DIE to see your film in person in a theater?

Make the decision on a per country basis if the studios must, but holy shit, we're up to 3,000 people dying a day in the US, over 100k hospitalized, 300k new infections a day... life cannot 'go back to normal' anytime soon. Stay at home, stop spreading Covid.

I had about 25 hours into a campaign from the previous version, but gave up due to completely screwing my late game up. Never lost a single battle, but every time I sent my crews off to fight, the NPC allies would get annihilated somewhere, losing massive amounts of territory. It seemed pretty easy to lose the overall strategic battle due to RNG. I'll be starting a new campaign though with this version soon, off the GoG version.

Reading the Snapshot forums this seems to be a major problem with the game, early game RNG decides the outcome for the whole campaign, along with a pretty unforgiving game timer, and alien expansion. It definitely feels at least as hard as old school UFO Defense/Terror From the Deep, maybe even more difficult. Early game mistakes especially get punished massively.

Firaxis XCOM and XCOM2 are cakewalks in comparison.

*EDIT* Hrm wow, good thing I gave up on my previous campaign, all old saves are incompatible with the new version.
