Holy shit, this looks potentially great! I love their signature sprite artwork, glad they didn't move away from that style.

Hopefully the actual mechanics of play turn out to be fun, kinda hard to tell from this video though.

Hurrah for AI bots and coop
Yeah, this might be a BF I pay more than $5 for. I haven't done that since BF2.

I'd rather have bots than a SP campaign. If this is where the money went, then good.

Well, bots on the multiplayer maps are good practice I guess, and I can't really fault them for not spending 150 million on a single player campaign that'll get played by maybe 30% of the customers, and then only once.

I was never impressed with the bots in previous BF games. SWBF bots were a step up, but still pretty stupid. Not stupid in the same was as pub players either.

I just reinstalled BFV and played a couple of rounds.. I am rusty as fuck, and there are some new Pacific maps, and holy shit, I cannot see people in the shrubbery, at all. Rofl. BF2042 is going to be rough. I started getting my reflexes back a bit tonight though after about 2 hours.

I mean, that's not really too surprising, is it? They need to write everything, then the sets/costumes/cgi is not exactly cheap, I wonder if they broke 300 million in costs on the last season, including actor salaries. Might as well take the time to do it properly.

Just to continue this little side-tirade a bit:

Think about how many people haaaated the BFV trailer, when objectively there wasn't anything terrible about it, it was an over-the-top explosion-fest showcasing some very hammy scripted "Battlefield moments". Maybe you don't like WW2, or girls, but it was exactly what one would expect from a BF trailer, yet it was UNIVERSALLY panned. Why is that?

I feel like this was an age related (or life experience related) complaint. Everybody at my admittedly older age level was blown out of the water by those BFV trailers. Half my FPS group built new computers for BFV. Don't just listen to the loudest whining 4chan trolls.

My prediction is that AI soldiers will be added ON TOP of the 128 human players.

I think that the total count will be closer to 64 players + 32 AI per team, or even 64 AI per team. So a final count closer to 200. That would actually fill up these massive maps and make them feel full, while at the same time not breaking their servers. They already have AI working perfectly in-game with human players in SWBF2, and it's hard to tell them apart.

Ugh, I kinda hope not, lol. I will have a brand new PC by the time this game comes out, but there has got to be a realistic limit for what can get rendered on screen as well as what can reasonably be expected to be transferred over the internet, data wise. I'm on Gigabit fiber, but that's the minority in the US for sure. Plus, just imagine the mess of 200 human + AI players... expect to get killed almost immediately on any open map as infantry, or at least shot up a bit. 40+ prone campers per team, sure they will be spread out, but that's what it's going to end up being.

Also, reading up on the way they are planning to trickle out Specialists... does that just mean different player models, or actual different gadgets too? I'm assuming the latter, but it's not fully explained yet. Obviously we'll find out, but I'd hate to see some of them locked behind DLC/Season Pass/whatever paywalls later.

Still, overall, like I said below, I am psyched for this. I went with an ultrawide screen monitor this build as well, I wonder how it'll hold up with this level of chaos on screen.

I think that was the silliest trailer I've ever watched. Eject from your fighter, destroy the enemy fighter with a rocket launcher, then drop back into your cockpit.

That's been happening in game, in actual regular play, for years now, through multiple games. I figured it was a funny nod to how players actually play these games, aka not realistically at all.

I think I'm reaching saturation on GoG and Steam, nothing in these sales even in my Wishlists are really exciting me now.

There are a couple of upcoming games I'm still waiting for but... haven't done any impulse sale buys in awhile, it feels like.

Ehhh.. I mean, I'm looking forward to it but that trailer wasn't all that exciting to me.

(up to) 128 players and 7 maps at launch. Hmm. They must be pretty big maps, guess there's no in-between?

They may do those variable maps like they did in previous games (BF4? BFV also?) where maps were 'fenced in' a bit on smaller player settings. I can't picture every server running full 128 players, let alone most peoples' computers being able to handle that.

I did see a robodog also, which I can tell is going to be either insanely overpowered and cheap, or complete trash, that'll be the real no in-between.

I'm looking forward to the Anti Air APCs utterly demolishing infantry for a few patches.

God dammit, DICE and their amazing videos! Now I'm psyched up, again, for another Battlefield game! And I'm getting old as hell, my reflexes are a pale reflection of my glory days.

Oh well, once more into the breech, I'm putting together a beast of a gaming desktop in the next month or so anyway.

Also, well done on the trailer, hints of classic/extremely popular maps from previous games, Little Bird Abuse, knifing ambushes, and a jet-RPG trick shot and recovery.

Skynet gets one step closer every day.

We've quietly blown past that point; Azerbaijan vs Armenia recently had autonomous loitering (airborne) missile vehicles in use, and neither of those countries is exactly a technological powerhouse. Grenade-dropping drones(conversions of off the shelf RC-drones) have been used by various groups in Syria for a couple of years now as well. Skynet at least would have been one common enemy for mankind; the real future is just going to be everybody and his brother has autonomous killing drones relatively cheaply available. I'm waiting for the swarms of micro killer drones to start being produced, like the size of a deck of playing cards or smaller, but independently home in on people's foreheads and explode, etc. Why bother with complicated Terminators when you can just make billions of flying explosive disposable drones?

Nice of Floyd Mayweather to hold him up after knocking him out.

It was an exhibition match (translate this to meaningless, except for the money gained), and yes Floyd was just playing around, it sure looked to me like he knocked him out with that behind the ear shot and held him up. I am not sure what people were expecting though, Floyd, for all of his many, many faults outside the ring, is one of the best boxers to have ever lived. Even retired in his 40s he is going to annihilate somebody who just isn't a well trained boxer, even with the weight and height disadvantage. After that knockout, Floyd was definitely taking it easier on him. It was hilarious to me, Floyd's reaction to that right hand was literally perfect, duck counter perfectly to the side of the head with hook, Paul didn't even have a chance to react to his miss. Still fast as fuck at almost my age... Mayweather is a stupendous athlete. Also, rookie boxing mistake by Paul in that exchange, left hand is down almost at his waist. That's how you get brain damage, or more brain damage in his case.

More on topic: Rick and Morty movie... I'd love to see one, although even without Covid19 I don't know if I could handle the cringeworthy fandom in the theaters. Looking forward to season 5 in.. 11 days?

I loved the King's Bounty games so far as well, but I think my pre-ordering days are over, unless there is some simply spectacular pre-order bonus that makes retail a loss, and even then, these days, you're probably going to wait 6 months for patches.

Well, I loved the original X-Com games, and the newer XCOM versions, as well as the spinoffs, as well as the first one in this UFO series, so..

I'm looking forward to this game actually coming out, I was sure it was dead years ago. I am intensely curious as to what they actually made, let alone what in the fuck happened in their development cycle, lol!

Mostly Negative reviews on Steam, apparently all but two factions are paid DLC, $7-10 each.

How hard is it for Warhammer/Warhammer 40k games to be good?

Sorry that was a programmer humor type joke.

Recursion = repeating process, the google search results for recursion, at least the top link, just take you back to the same results.

I swear the google answer used to be a complete joke (as in, attempt at humor, not terrible) where it just kept repeating Recursion or something. Now it has a bunch of real explanations in the lower search results.
