Ugh, it'll be hilariously terrible if people find out the EGS program is either cryptocoin mining or just harvesting all of your data. It would not surprise me in the least for 2020, however.

I subscribed to HBO MAX through Amazon Prime only to find out Wonder Woman 1984 wasn't available there. So considering I paid $15 specifically to watch the movie, I ended up torrenting it. I felt like Time Warner is very shady with their distribution method by not letting people know WW84 isn't available through HBO MAX on Amazon Prime even though it is technically HBO MAX (it's real confusing!).

By the way, it's an okay movie. Not as good as the first Wonder Woman. The plot is "strange." I don't mean that in a good way.

I watched Wonder Woman 1984 yesterday via HBO Max, but had to watch it on a Win10 machine instead of my Mint Linux multimedia box, because that movie alone has some weird DRM that the rest of HBO Max videos do not. The writing is terrible. I can't understand it, the first movie was far superior. Being in 1984 has practically zero impact on the film, almost no 1980s classic music used, for example. At best there were a few clothing gags. Logic is repeatedly assaulted, for the entire 2.5 hour running time. Somehow WW ignores WW2, Vietnam, the Cuban Missile Crisis, pretty much every major post-WW1 catastrophe or war, and starts showing herself again in 1984 to beat up small time thieves? What the fuck!? She also couldn't get over Steve Trevor over the past 70 years!? The CGI also felt pretty weak, although it was passable. Fighting choreography was inferior. Also, body theft, mind theft, arguable rape, ignored by the plot and characters.

It's a shame, because there was a great cast, some of whom even gave good performances in spite of the material. All in all though, wasted opportunity due to shitty writing. Unfortunately I'm sure this film's failure will be used as condemnation of bringing AAA movies to streaming.

*EDIT* Grammar.

*EDIT* Also, from a comic nerd standpoint, they underutilized two major Wonder Woman villains, for no apparent reason. Inexcusable from a comic nerd standpoint, but a lot of people aren't going to recognize the main villain at all, soo...

Interesting. I guess the potential windfall of the biggest Chinese fiction series... ever(at least in the modern era?) turned into a globally available TV series was too tempting.

I'm not sure why he bothered though, I'm sure Netflix is going to fuck it all up.

I mean, CDPR released this full 3D trailer in Jan 2013. They must have had *something* done: a decent amount of concept art, game design docs, etc.

Yeah, true, although I think that's a Blur Studios or somebody else's full on CGI trailer, not from CDPR? I do remember being blown away by that trailer though, now that you bring it up; I didn't think it was from 2013, sheesh.

In the time Roberts spent on his gaudy monstrosity, CDPR released two games: Witcher 3 (started 2011 - released 2015) and Cyberpunk 2077 (started 2012 - released 2020). At least CDPR has something to show for their efforts.

A Squadron 42/Star Citizen thread is already off the rails just by existing, but minor point, CDPR didn't actually start real work on Cyberpunk 2077 until 2016, after they released Blood and Wine. 2012 is when they basically started contacting Mike Pondsmith and probably started pencil work at best, while the majority of the studio was still doing W3. They expanded their studio in 2017, hiring an unreleased number of people, purely to work on Cyberpunk, and opened a new studio in 2018 just for additional CP2077 work. A post game breakdown of the development process in detail is probably going to be pretty interesting, plus whatever engine work they did after W3 for CP2077.

More on topic, I'll be amazed if Squadron 42 is playable in my lifetime at this rate.

Keeping save files below 8gb is easy. Don't keep tens of thousands of crafting mats & consumable items in your inventory lol. Sell off what crafting mats you don't need (they go for a decent rate actually) as well as the 800 consumables in your inventory if you're one of those people that picks up everything.

I tested that hypothesis... Turns out it's pure bullshit.

Savegame file size before: 4.7MB

Fired up cheatengine, gave myself 1 million of all components, both for items and quickhacks.

Savegame file size after: 4.7MB

Then did a few gigs, filesize went up .2MB.

Crafted about a hundred various stuff, sold all of them ( inventory back to where it was before crafting them ), filesize went up .3MB.

Then decided to test the money, gave myself a few millions, filesize remained the same.

There's clearly a bug with the crafting system somewhere.

Well, from that description, it sounds like world changes (ie. finished gigs, crime encounters, etc.) are getting the changes saved to the save file, and items NOT disappearing from stores explains the crafting sales another file size increase.

They might not be able to fix the encounter changes save state, but they can definitely have store clean up happen, or happen faster. Hopefully that's in the patch pipeline.

You know that there's no need to "turn on EGS" to snagg the free games. Login using a browser and you're good to go.

Log in, turn on, either way I have to actually view EGS in a few days and remember to actually pick it up. 1st world problems, I know, I'm just saying.

Well they've fixed the 8MB corruption problem, so the next question is: Is there still massive slowdown after 6MB save file size? Was there ever, or was that a reddit rumor, etc.

My saves are at 4.54 MB, and I've sold pretty much everything I'm not actually using, I guess I'll sell materials next if it starts really taking a long time, but it seems like a counter for a material type shouldn't dramatically increase file size. I still think items are NOT timing out correctly after being sold to vendors, either NPC vendors or the Kiosk vendors.

That or items dropped in the world by dead enemies sometimes never expire, etc.

I'm tempted to stop doing side quests and just finish the main quest, just in case. But the side quests have a ton of actual story content, surprisingly.

Its going to become harder and harder to fight back against their censorship and they'll have a direct line to exercise their soft power by propagandizing to kids.

If I wasn't on the same planet, I'd admire their tenacity and breadth of scope. They are trying to slowly worm into every aspect of society, across the entire globe. Unnerving.

Refunding the PC version? It's not perfect but it's getting patched, and it'll get patched and modded more... it's already pretty good. My save files are barely over 4MB currently, not even close to the supposed 6MB issue, for the record.

Yes, early adopters take all the risks.

Well, it's good that they don't get corrupted now, but how about the supposed massive increase in loading times once they are over 6 megs? Still exists? Over exaggerated in the first place? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Nolan has a lot of talent, but he also has probably the most annoying sound design of any modern 'famous' director.

Insanely loud music or mood audio, then almost inaudible dialogue. Every fucking movie. On purpose. I turn up the volume to hear the dialogue, then piss off my neighbors when the next "BOOOOONG" comes on.

Very nice, this is a great game. I already have it on Steam though, so while I picked it up, I don't know if I'm going to regrind everything on the GoG version. I wonder if saves are compatible?

If you have NOT played it, I definitely recommend picking this up on GoG, especially for free.

Since this isn't a Steam exclusive game, might I suggest linking the official site's patch notes instead?

https://deadcells.com/patchnotes

I love Dead Cells and played a ton of it back when it came out on Steam a couple years ago. But this new Malaise system sounds annoying, not sure I'll get into it. Might give it a shot over the holidays.

This Malaise rework sounds like basically a more annoying timer. Not cool, the game already has a variety of timer based challenges built in, and it's a fucking rogue-lite too. Don't get me wrong, I love the previous versions of Dead Cells, I just disagree entirely with them adding YET ANOTHER TIMER MECHANIC to the entire fucking game outside of boss fights... what the fuck for?!

Hopefully it can be toggled off.
