I bought Days Gone on a reasonable sale, and I'm struggling to make myself finish the game. I had to use some weapon durability mods to make it playable(to me), for melee weapons. And I think I have unbreakable silencers on there as well. Overall it feels like there should be more to the game, I don't know. The quests are basically fetch quests, I don't find any of the characters particularly likeable or even logical at the point I am in the game. It looks pretty nice though, and the overall idea isn't bad, just the writing seems mediocre at best so far, and the combat isn't enjoyable enough so far, for how much of it there seems to be, for so little reward usually. (Wow, more scrap, and 3 ammo! )

This looks gorgeous enough that I'm interested to see what the final version ends up like. I feel like there was already a game about this myth around 10-15 years ago, Journey to the West? Futuristic version or something, but with the same Monkey King style protagonist?

Ugh, don't even joke about that.

Meanwhile, the Battle for MIddle Earth games are still lost in licensing hell, and seemingly will never released on GoG(where I would happily rebuy them to get rid of having to use CD cracks or other such mummery to play the games)

Huh. That looks somewhat interesting. Catherine Zeta-Jones is the worst rendition of Morticia, however, and I am not sold on Luis Guzman as Gomez. I like him in a lot of things, but I don't see him really pulling off Gomez. Could be wrong, though. I initially thought Robert Downey Jr. was a terrible choice to portray Tony Stark. I was very wrong.
Hard to judge from a trailer, but Jones isn't working for me, Guzman is, and I'm lukewarm on Wednesday. She seems to have the chops, but she's too pretty. It's hard to beat Ricci, gobs of talent while at the same time having a bit of an off kilter look. In fact, that entire movie cast was spectacular and perfectly cast: Julia, Houston, Ricci, and Lloyd. Maybe the new Wednesday will grow on me. The look and atmosphere look great, there's a lot going right.
EDIT: Didn't realize this was a Tim Burton/Danny Elfman joint. That almost makes it must-see TV.

Interesting takes. I'm kind of in the same boat, I may watch this, but I feel like the 1990s movie version was ridiculously good, so good we probably didn't appreciate it fully at the time. Everything will be compared to those superstars. I'm not a fan of Guzman in most roles, and this looks to be more of the underwhelming same for me, but as I said, Raul Julia was the best in my opinion, so maybe I'm not being objective here. As far as Wednesday being too pretty... eh, she is probably gorgeous normally, but she looks decently weird here, at least in this short clip. I'll add this to my insanely long watch list, which is rivaling my games to play list.

My version of hell: being forced to play golf for eternity.

In and of itself, golf is okay as a sport/hobby, to me. Unfortunately it's a huge waste of land; unforgivable in modern times.

As far as this game, this looks pretty interesting actually, or at least way better than I initially thought it would be, before I watched the video.

I'm tempted to laugh at these scamming assholes, but unfortunately there are apparently a LOT of these crypto currency games out there, either already released or in the works. Some work associates of mine are 'playing' some tablet based crypto-mining game... have been for months. Initially I thought it was relatively harmless; play to possibly earn X_Cryptocurrency per hour or whatever, but no, they all had to buy in, some of them for multiple thousands of dollars, into the cryptocurrency, before playing the game. I felt sick to my stomach learning that. There are sure to be many more such games released, even with the crypto crash.

Oh, for the good old days, when cosmetic horse armor had the gaming world up in arms.

Ugh. Blizzard, what the fuck are you doing? Why even have "Season Boosts" unless the game is a slog to play? Cosmetic shit as pay items... is annoying, but hopefully the regular gear won't look so terrible that it makes the game unbearable or something. Unfortunately every game seems to have paid cosmetics now.

At any rate, it sounds like the game is going to be base price + Season Pass price to get the true base game. Annoying, but not exactly unique among AAA games nowadays. I'll have to see how bad it actually is when the game is closer to release.

I have Iron Harvest, from one of the previous sales. It's...okay. It looks awesome, graphically, and sounds pretty good as well, but the actual combat and damage mechanics are pretty annoying to actually play, in my opinion. It's a copy of the Company of Heroes somewhat hard counter damage model, with slow spawning times and capture of control points, with a cap on total number of defense structures you can build, as well as pretty low unit cap. Add that in with lots of siege type enemy units, and you can have decent army, but constantly have to run it back to defend your base if one AI controlled siege unit gets near your base (and can almost obliterate it in the time it takes to engage it). Split armies will of course lose to massed enemies, or at least be so damaged that you need to stop and repair/replace lost units.

I have yet to finish the campaign, because I got burned out on one of the limited unit story missions. Infantry is garbage, by the way, vs the mechs.

*EDIT* I loaded up Iron Harvest to check on my campaign and the new patch and... the new patch is incompatible with all old saves. Not a huge deal, as I can restart the last mission I was on from the beginning at least, but pretty annoying.

Congratulations on their approximately billion dollars gross from Elden Ring so far. I bought a copy too, and got burned out after about 200 hours or so, but overall a very impressive game.

I wished they went with the real native American language in Prey (the new Predator movie). That movie was really good for its genre btw.

Interestingly enough, if you have Hulu, there is a Comanche language (I forget the exact name) dub in the audio options. Obviously it's a dub, so close ups of actor faces may be jarring since they are still speaking mostly English in the film, but otherwise you may enjoy the alternate audio.

That title(which I admit I have heard a few times before) is wildly chronologically inaccurate. I played Doom and all those old school games, and like most of the players, I was not in my 30s when Doom came out, aka actual Boomers. At the very least call them Gen X shooters.

At this point, I'd settle for calling them forced nostalgia shooters, since all these companies seem to be cheaping out on graphics to make pixel or low res graphic Doom/Quake/Duke Nukem clones. Shooter Clones? They actually used to be called that back in the day anyway...

With all its "social" and "shared" elements, it is obvious: this will be Diablo Immortal 2.
Buy a token to fight a boss at the end of some dungeon each day and get a chance of 0.000001% that he drops the platinum dildo sword. Hooray!

Nah, they're not stupid. D4 won't be going the pay-to-win route. It will be cosmetics, which I'm fine with personally, but I can understand if some people aren't. The social elements just help encourage cosmetic purchases, so players can show off their weird outfits to their friends.

I really hope you're right, that it's just cosmetic bullshit; no pay-to-win or pay-to-be-less-of-a-pain-in-the-ass systems. I am a little annoyed with the open world-ish stuff they seem to be trying to do, but it could be briefly hilarious, and then I just go to solo or controlled coop dungeons like D3. Blizzard certainly has the money and theoretically still has the talent to make a hell of an ARPG, and a lot of studios seem to be failing to pick up the slack, unfortunately. I used to think Path of Exile was going to be it, but that game has become bloated beyond all recognition, and the hassle of item management, etc. and stupidly low drop rates to encourage trading have killed it for me, long term. PoE2 will probably be as bad or worse as PoE1, in those regards.

*EDIT* Grammar.

I feel like trying to play the Leagues while having a job/family/desire to sleep etc. is a trap.

Just play the normal version, which slowly gets some mechanics from the leagues, and ignore time constraints/wipes/etc. and learn the mechanics at your own pace.

I drop in every now and then just to check the game out, but they change so much per league that I find them a complete waste of time, I don't want to play PoE that heavily.

So their team-based co-op first person shooter is being bumped by their team-based competitive first person shooter. Never mind that they're a small studio trying to release two games back to back, why are they making two games that are so similar at the same time?
Serious answer, the two games probably share a lot of code, and some assets. They even say they are in the same universe, so maybe it's a lot of asset reuse. At least they recognize the PVP and PVE-Coop crowd don't want the same game.

Nice, I'll pick this up most likely. The vanilla game was fun, finished it months ago and enjoyed it a lot, although it felt like some of the guns were WAY better than the rest. There was a seeking electrical damage automatic rifle? Shredded pretty much everything, for example.

I'll reinstall Cyberpunk at some point eventually, but I did complete a playthrough on the buggy release day version. Pretty fun, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, personally.

The trailer for the show looks pretty good, in a somewhat generic anime sort of way. I'll watch it.

If you want to feel really bad, realize this one guy's spending amounts to less than .01% of what Blizzard made in 2 months, apparently.

If you want to feel slightly better, it sounds like their system is working as intended, keeping the cash-leveled player out of anyone else's game, haha!
