Could a nefarious organization use this technology to send input signals into the brain (for example, to brainwash or to induce a coma)?

Residency rules in most places want you to have a job. While I haven't researched it deeply, a casual look at a couple of countries told me it would not be easy for me to move permanently as a retired person.
Well, I'm mostly screwed at this point for moving outside the US for my job, I'm tied down by seniority and retirement, etc. I'd also take a huge paycut outside the US. It's a pipe dream for me now, although I am considering going elsewhere after retirement. I am just hoping the USA avoids spiraling into a complete clusterfuck with antivaxxers and homegrown terrorist groups and other dystopian shit. I'm happy for you, and these eventual Valve New Zealander people though! Enjoy it!![]()

I packed up and moved to NZ 16 years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made.
My advice: don't worry about having the same job. The whole point of living in NZ is to shift your work-life balance in favour of life. You can get a similar job (but probably paid less), but you're no longer worried about chasing the rat race. If your car is 10 years old instead of new... who cares? You're driving it in the middle of nowhere surrounded by amazing scenery![]()

HBO Max is pretty awesome, among the current streaming services. Netflix has slowly become mostly their own shovelware shows, Amazon Prime rotates out good stuff quickly and has most good things moved to extra channels or rentals, Hulu has commercials, Disney, CBS etc. all have limited content.
They also have somehow convinced Warner Bros to release their new movies on HBO Max the same day they hit the theaters! Great in this plagued era, although to be fair, so far WW1984 was total shit. The sizzle reel was a bit unintelligible, but they did have some titles at the end, namely numero uno, Dune. At the very least, pick up HBO Max for a month at the end of 2021 for Dune.![]()
It is a bit more expensive than the rest though. $14.99 or $15.99 or whatever.![]()
It also feels like it's time for me to rewatch The Wire.
IIRC The Wire is on Prime, so no need for HBO Max if you already own Prime.
