Came for the snarky "John Romero will make you his bitch" comments. Left satisfied.

Sometimes I think Cutter is just an AI chat-bot gone horribly wrong, and other times I think he is an AI chat-bot gone horribly right!

Devolver Digital announces they will publish STRAFE, the upcoming remake of this 1990s shooter.

This isn't a remake. It's an original game heavily inspired by Quake.

Don't you remember the original? It's was the one where things moved so fast that they made a whooshing sound when they went past.

I believe they put a rfid on the cup/pod, and the machine won't brew w/o it (so competitors products won't work).

Surely you can't be serious... what kind of stupid bastard would buy into that system?

Same ones that buy DRM software I would imagine.

The news of Ian Murdock's death is really shocking, even more so given that it may be suicide as a result of police brutality.

For those not aware the "ian" in "Debian" is from Ian Murdock's first name. Debian is the the basis of the popular linux distributions Ubuntu and Linux Mint.

Ouch, Slick has been burned. Badly. Just the dedicated server support alone (yes publicly available servers, thank you very much) should be enough to bury games like this. Unfortunately, most gamers are dumb fucks with the intelligence and memory of a fruit fly, they go "PURTY!!", jizz in their pants, and pre-order as soon as they see a new sexy screenshot of their favorite franchise...agh....

Pretty sure it's a shill account.

I'm not sure I see the big deal in this. I'm driving the car out in public after all, if somebody followed me and made notes I'd think it's weird, but I couldn't care less otherwise.

I wouldn't want it to be recording my conversations or recording me while I pick my nose at the traffic lights, but other than that, why are people so opposed to it? (genuine curious)

I didn't read TFA so I'm not sure what the issue is for these particular people. I suspect their objections to be a bit hypocritical given that they are probably quite happy to use privacy destrying malware and carry around devices that are tracking their every move.

The harms that come more generally from a loss of privacy have been talked about a lot, if you are generally curious I'm sure you can type "privacy harms" into google to find out what people think (and I'm sure the fact that google is also tracking you isn't going to bother you either). My favourite talk on the topic is by Eban Moglen and called "There is no first law of robotics".

But otherwise let me ask you this - you draw a line between someone following you around taking notes as being OK but recording your conversations or photograhing you picking your nose not being OK. What is it about these latter things that makes them the kind of Surveillance you object to?

I can see it now, they're going to CGI a young Rutger Hauer like they've done with Arnie in these last bullshit Terminator flicks. Hell, it'll be an action flick with one liners 'Replicate this motherfucker! *BOOM*

Well it's nice that you have a good paying job now though.

Very cool, I was just recently thinking about trying to hunt down a copy of Tribes Vengeance - wonder if anyone's still playing.

pretty sure it used gamespy, I'm not aware of any hack for it to enable multiplayer.

You may be able to find games using Qtracker. I know they picked up indexing the servers of a lot of the Gamespy games once that service closed.
