Well Serious Sam is not a suprise, because Croteam were talking about it on tuxgames a couple of months back - but I was very suprised about Medal of Honor. That looks like a very interesting game!

Please ... please ... what are the other games my precious??

This is a blatent attempt to monopolise something they don't own. Open GL was designed to be just that: 'Open' and extensible, but Microsoft sticks in it's claws to make money. Let there be no doubt that microsoft wan't to restrict ALL users, they don't care about pushing technology forward, they wan't to make money and screw EVERYONE. The average Windows user will suffer with this, because vendors may have to pay for extensions that are part of the OGL2.0 standard, in which they either go back to the old methods or create a new one, in which they get people to pay them, for all the effort they put in. The result will be a more fragmented 3D market. Microsoft are just plain evil, and if the US Justice system wasn't so blantantly blind towards there foul pratices, M$ wouldn't even consider locking users out of new technology. This will create a greater technological underclass.

Just my 2 pence...

I haven't played CS for years. I remember them talking about adding bots - are they in CS now or did that never transpire?

CS was damn jerky over my 56K so bots would make me consider installing Half Life again...

Thankfully Blues has returned and my life can return to normaility.

I thought Blues had suffered the Easter fate what with the Queen Mother and Dudley Moore.

Very sad to see them pass on, but thankfully Blues' is still jumping out the coffin - if you need some cash to help the site Blue, start up a PayPal account and I'll donate and I'm sure others will.

That eBay auction for the Matrox card is very funny. It brings a tear to my eye to think that I was going to buy a PowerVR card over (what I eventually decided on) my Voodoo 2... Those were the days!

I just think they've made a bad call. Unreal Tournament 2003 is just too long winded, doesn't roll off the tongue, and creates more confusion. Think of a new PC gamer in September 2003 - wow Unreal Tournament 2003 - I've always heard about Unreal - I think I'll give it a try it must be new, and two months later Unreal Tournament 2004 is released. Damn, my games out of date!

Think of the parents as well. Especially ordering over the 'phone.

And lastly, Unreal Tournament was based on 2291 or some such far future date, so Unreal Tournament 2003 sounds like a game based around 2003... not so much confusing, but lacks cohesion to the game underneath the long title.

/* thanking god for cut and paste */

It's int main() { return 0; } ever since ANSI '99 (probably earlier).
Repeat to yourself five times a day "int main() good; void main() baaaaaad."

Cleaning up bad programming errors since M$ came to fore

Wheeeeeeee!!

Thanks Timo - the binaries work beutifully, the videos are smooth and the game runs hunkey-dorey.

Thanks Frans for the post! It's nice to see Linux have the odd mention on the website every now and then.

Note though, you need either wine/wineX or Win32 so you can get the files in /usr/local/games/wolfenstein/main otherwise you may have to wait a little while longer.

it's the fact ANYONE can LEGALLY learn to use a high end 3D program in use

Yes. It's a recursive circle for modellers who want to get into the industry, they need the skills to get the job, but they need that job to buy this specialist software.

I think this is a fantastic idea and gives those who want a break, a level playing field - more power to them!

Well this will not fix the problems I'm facing. I run the game, set my options, play the game with these options (mainly video modes and stuff like that), and when I quit the game it doesn't save my preferences, so when I attempt to load it next time I get a `Couldn't load OpenGL subsystem!' error.

I've gotten to the paranoia stage whereby I keep a backup of a working wolfconfig.cfg so I can put it in the Main directory every time I play - but to be quite honest it doesn't seem worth it - the game seems to lack soul - it feels like quake - the story is absolute toss and is another run and gun, but with better graphics...

And I've tried all the remedies - no DVA line in win.ini, etc, but to no avail - has anyone experienced this problem??

And where the hells the Linux sp binary!!

I know most of you say ``I'd rather have few games, but those should have excellent story/weapons/graphics/models etc''

But sometimes I prefer having the choice of 20 titles to say, ``humm, I'd like to play that''. I've run out of games to play - and I lost my patience waiting for games they advertised 5 years ago...

I hope Kreed is coming out soon, it looks tasty. It looks a bit Unreal-ish - and thats no bad thing - those spaceship levels and that eerie music was awesome!

Well, crafty those id guys.

Take a few maps out, sell the game, then release them and people say `those id guys are generous'. However, the UT way was to bung all the maps ready onto the cd, and people said `too many boring maps'. Whatever they put in that map pack you'll love those guy as id...

They outsourced the multiplayer and they only came up with 7 maps? Yeah, right!!

Well, I feel sorry for IBM over this. This case has dragged on and on. It happened in April, yet December they slap them with a $10,000 bill for the cleaning of the pavements, yet it would probably cost less than that to replace the love peace and Linux logo's chalked onto the pavements.

What a load of old tosh.

Plus a $100,000 fine and $9,000 for the attorney, thats moronic.

Did look nice though - I wouldn't mind a few Tux logos in London!

Boo - Microsoft fanboys no doubt

forget about Europe...

Okay troll, but this is important news.

But to be quite honest, I'm not sure if I want this after all. The game has received a lot of negative feedback

Oh well, I'm sure Unreal 2 will kick ass!
