And then there is this aspect to the story. The secret to Robinhood's success (and profitability) is simple: payment for order flow. To ensure trades are commission free, trades are sold to "market makers'' or large firms such as Citadel Securities—Robinhood’s largest customer, which tried to bail out Melvin Capital after its Gamestop shorts cost it billions. Market makers execute those trades (sometimes at an inferior rate) and can use their privileged position to place themselves in the middle and make a profit. Crucially, in this arrangement, more trades and more volatility mean there’s more for firms like Citadel to work with. Here is the Financial Times explaining how it works:
"Citadel Securities pays tens of millions of dollars for this order flow but makes money by automatically taking the other side of the order, then returning to the market to flip the trade. It pockets the difference between the price to buy and sell, known as the spread.
Easy access to the market against the backdrop of wild swings in prices have led to higher trading volumes for stocks and options this year—increasing the raw material Citadel Securities uses to turn a profit. At the same time, the rise in volatility has forced spreads wider, increasing the potential income for market makers."

Short sellers do not destroy value any more than stock buyers create it.
Manipulating GameStop stock in a pump and dump scheme to stick it to the man makes zero sense.
On a separate note; Does anyone know what their business model is anymore beyond real estate.

The patent in question, which truely is as dumb as it sounds. God, the US patent system is broken.

I wish I could drudge up my initial reaction here on Blues to this game's first trailer. In a nutshell it was: "Holy fucking scope creep, this game will be 3 years late and riddled with bugs"
Just thinking about that trailer I'm lulzing to myself, so many systems on top of systems. I can't wait to see the final game they managed to squeeze out. I'm guessing that 80% of the mechanics they wanted to do will end up getting scrapped.
Or it could actually deliver what it promised, in which case it'll be amazing.

So what is the point of this game? (Or any game of this type?) You build stuff, to build better and bigger stuff, to build better and bigger stuff? I could never understand the appeal really. So in this particular one, are there enemies you fight? Do they come and steal or burn down your shit? Is there some kind of hostile AI builder out there that you are competing with? Is the environment the enemy? Is it like Simcity, where it's a complex juggling system where everything needs to be in balance or else it turns to shit? Are there earthquakes, other natural disasters?

Dr Fauci must be clueless because he's also worried about the South African strain.
Another thing to be concerned about, the US is only sequencing 0.3 percent of cases, ranking it 43rd in the world and leaving it largely blind to the spread of different variant’s.
The coronavirus variant first spotted in Britain is spreading at an alarming rate and isn’t responding to established ways of slowing the pandemic.
Denmark this past week began sequencing every positive coronavirus test to check for mutations.

Valves statement is kinda hilarious, which part of "EU = single digital market" does Valve not understand? That we can buy games cheaper in other EU countries is literally the point of it. We've been paying 20% more than everyone else for so long that it's only fair to show publishers what we really think of them....
Unless the bulk of EU revenues are coming from Slovenia or Romania, then why wouldn't you expect those lower prices to just go away, and everyone just gets stuck with the higher prices?

I mean I can tell you, it will be at least a year until everything is settled out. In large part because it will take a bit to vaccinate but even when we vaccinate everyone who wants it by summer, there's still going to be like 40% of the population of US who won't do it, and we need 90% for herd immunity. So it will have to burn itself out.
BTW, we still haven't seen the full effects. Turns out that something like 10% of people hospitalized from covid die soon after they get better and are released because covid did a number on their organs and there's timebombs sitting internally.

Russia has once again come to the rescue of Trump and the Republican Party by hosting Parler so that US domestic terrorists can plot with each other.
