Starfield is also an AMD-sponsored game. The 7900 XTX is usually ~30% slower than the RTX 4090 in rasterized games but in Starfield it is on par or even slightly kicking the RTX 4090's butt. And this same 30% performance loss trickles down the whole product lineup.
Those of us on nVidia are currently receiving approximately 30% less performance than what we should be getting due to the AMD sponsorship.

If and when that will ever be addressed is anyone's guess. I don't think they'll be in a hurry.

Under normal circumstances the 4090 would easily beat the 7900- only nVidia doesn’t care much about an „AMD sponsored“ title so their motivation to optimize drivers for SF is limited (in stark contrast to AMD). Their current driver focuses on compatibility/stability in this game, NOT performance. Just my 5c.

Exactly. But since Starfield is a complete and playable game instead of a scam disguised as a tech-demo that’s not gonna happen.

FSR2 works on Nvidia gpus. It is open source. So what is the issue/big deal? Maybe yes on Nvidia gpus theirs works better. But from a production perspective if you can code for one that works for everyone why not implement it first? What am I missing?

Not missing anything. On the contrary. In contrast to the Nvidiots out there you clearly see the facts. For the Nvidiots Bethesda „destroyed“ Starfield because they didn’t include their beloved proprietary DLSS instead of open FSR.

Apple Maps expands 'detailed city experience' feature

99.9999% of the world’s population don’t even care because this so called “feature” is not and will never be available in their area.

Picked up a 7900 xt for $705 after coupon, and was planning on buying Starfield, so basically comes out to about $635. I'd been pretty happy with my 3070 until I started running out of VRAM in games, and wanted to switch out from Nvidia anyhow, because of how poorly they have treated partners, vendors, reviewers, and customers over the past few years.

At $635 that 7900 XT is a really decent deal and will serve you well for the next couple of years. I‘ve dropped Nv for good after the fiasco with their 970 cards and I‘ve been happy with AMD‘s products since.

What a wonderful Nv whiner‘s thread on Steam. Crying babies who believe AMD „ruined“ a major title because they don‘t support their beloved proprietary DLSS BS…

UbiSoft's annual PC revenue last year was €313 million. UbiSoft only have their own games (pretty much every single own with Denuvo on board... at least the newer ones) on UbiSoft Connect so they have a very limited catalog to generate those €313 million.
GOG has a catalog of over 7,300 games and they generate the above mentioned €40 million per year. That's why I said "chicken shit" above.

That’s why I own every major GOG title and not a single UbiSoft game

No brainer. The built in M2 chip is waaaaaay too slow for ‘real’ VR. It’ll take at least a couple more generations of development (say M4, M5 for a built in processor) OR an optional external feed via high speed wireless, which, at the moment, is not supported by the Vision Pro, to get ready for VR. The Vision Pro is a very pricey first generation product I wouldn’t buy even if I had the money to spend… says an avid Apple user by the way (iPhone Pro, iPad Pro, Mac mini and Watch).

Why would they? FSR runs just fine on most Nv hardware. Something that can’t be said about DLSS running on AMD hardware due to Nv‘s decision to make is Nv only.

This is wonderful news! I’m absolutely delighted about AMD/Bethesda showing Nv the well deserved middle finger on their proprietary, much hated DLSS. This will ensure we (ALL, AMD and Nv users alike) will get full focus on one technology- that is FSR 2 (and maybe even 3 in the future). I’m really tempted to preorder Starfield because of this.

Anti-consumer DRM crapware such as DENUVO has saved me a lot of money, money that I would have gladly paid on GOG.

Nice try GOG but nowadays many AAA publishers believe the customer is evil and stupid at the same time - so DENUVO seems to work well for them.

Ubi resolved ok the Might and Magic IX DLC situation, making it free for all.

But didn't do that with various Assassin's Creed games, were gamers lost access to DLCs -unless taking a sea route-.

Not buying another game from them, ever.
Only will play their games if free to keep.

M&M IX or X? I’m currently on my very first playthrough of M&M VI- allegedly the part of the series that takes longest to beat.

Might & Magic X Legacy, of course. Might & Magic IX was made at a time when the term DLC had not even been invented yet.

M&M X Legacy, however, was fucked up real good by UbiSoft when they, as usual, pulled the plug on certain online services without giving it a thought and without doing crazy shit like, you know, testing stuff .
It turned out that disabling the services also disabled access to single player DLC and, far worse, even made finishing the game impossible. Customers were stuck with a single player game that could only be played to the end of Act I.
Fans (instead of UbiSoft) figured out a preliminary fix rather quickly and then UbiSoft finally officially addressed the situation a few months later as well.
Yeah, typical Ubisoft mess. And a mess like that is but one of the reasons why I'm so hesitant to buy their stuff, even when it's on sale.
