They haven't finished cutting out all the content for planned DLC and finished implementing loot box style monetization.

... which is why I have zero expectations for these titles. For one I absolutely dislike Uplay. And then it's obvious that they will come pre-infested with the plaque known as "micro transactions". Right now Ubi is learning from EA how it's done: Wait until the shitstorms have calmed and keep fucking over your stupid customers.

So 5 years and 100 million bucks later they have one hour of boring as hell gameplay to show for it. Wow. Just wow.
They have nearly completed a single system, from which one of the beta players made this video. That system will probably have a couple dozen hours of gameplay...

...95 percent of which is going to be descending to and ascending from planets, moons and space stations according to this one hour tech demo video of pure boredom. Elite Dangerous is a thriller compared to this.

That Engadget article reads like it was written BY Intel, not ABOUT Intel. It couldn't be more biased. Fanboys will love it, everybody else won't take it seriously.

I've played versions 0.90x and experienced serious graphical glitches (horrible frame rate drops during combat) and all of a sudden they said: we're getting ready for release.
Last time I checked (0.904) that bug was fixed but the game felt incomplete and had balancing issues.

Anyway, it's 1.0 now and I'll give it another shot, starting from scratch.

Game still isn't available here on Steam (central Europe). I even searched for it. Nothing. It's not even mentioned.

Not that I cared much because there is nothing I despise more in a game than paid micro-transactions, and MEA has them all...

Extremely problematic that 1st amendment rights don't apply at the border. ACLU needs to get on that.

Not problematic at all- if you avoid the USA as your travel destination (I did after the TSA made me miss a flight for one last time). Kinda problematic if you're American. Just change your own rules if you don't like them...

Interesting article about Ryzen. So, the patch won't make it really competitive when it comes to gaming? It is not just Microsoft's fault? No patch will make Ryzen great again?

Just kidding. Ryzen offers quite some performance for the asked price, but for those with deeper pockets, intel is still the first choice.

Yes, the patch will make a difference, don't expect a quantum leap though.

No, it's nobody's "fault". It was AMD's decision to make Ryzen a 2 x CCX design. Windows 10 only needs to be aware of this design, currently it isn't.

In the best case for Ryzen the OS is aware of its 2 x CCX design AND the code is optimized for such a design (certain pro applications are but I doubt the same can be said about games).

The only thing we (or NV) knows about VEGA performance is rumors.

I was somewhat surprised about how "low" NV set the price for the 1080 Ti*. On 2nd thought it's quite obvious that this is all about profit maximization and NOT competition.

With their Titan line of products, released right between "regular new generation" and "Ti" NV caters to the very high end crowd. Essentially, they can ask whatever price they want. To keep the cash train from slowing the Ti is released, at the same time they lower prices for 1070/1080. Titan performance is delivered for much less $ to another select crowd of buyers (e.g. those who own a 980 Ti, who said the gap to a 1080 isn't worth upgrading and also said the Titan is too expensive).

Without competition (and there is none) this business model is extremely powerful. It's also reflected in NV's stock.

*For the record, I'd never pay $699 for a video card. I don't think VEGA is as dead as some might think. Yes, it's delayed and there's a good chance it might be slower than NV's high end stuff. But it will be cheaper and still be a very decent performer.

And with that, VEGA is looking pretty dead. Those benches look pretty mind-blowing, first 4k able GPU, but still a genereation away from driving 4K ultra settings, and 2 generations at least, for VR at 4K .. sigh.

I take it you've some insight on VEGA's performance. Please enlighten us.

I watched the presentation last night. Faster than the Titan X Pascal. Insane.

That's NV's way of f'ing $1200 Titan X owners in the rear.

Learned from my GTX 970 (neutered but still doing its job) purchase and will keep waiting for VEGA to drop.
