This looks fucking gorgeous! Excited!

It looks like a 1:1 port of the original 1994 game (which I've played back then) to a modern engine. I'm not sure if this approach is going to work gameplay wise. Due to the limitations of the 1994 engine the original game lacks quite a few features of a modern game. I expect significant enhancements in this department, they need to do a whole lot of revamping behind the scenes. Porting to a new engine is probably the easiest part.

Fortunately both NSA and FBI can only fuck around on good old U.S. territory. And the f'ing around stops at the U.S. American border.

The picture that has been developing is: While every Non-American is a terrorist to begin with, every American is only, well, f'ed. Just like Snowden said: If government looks at your profile and they want to see a criminal, they will see a criminal. Things to come.

The Times noted that over the last year, WhatsApp has been upgrading encryption for messaging and voice calls.

Having read some of the posts at Steam this patch has added DX12 "compatibility" and with it: no improvement but instead a ton of issues LOL. So, fail. But keep trying or, better, let DX11 titles be what they are: made for DX11.

Has anyone played StarDrive 2 (the main game)? I'm tempted to get this for $7.50 but the Steam reviews are only "mixed"...

Ah, I'm eager to try out the Ashes of the Singularity performance with these drivers. DX12 is pretty much useless with current nvidia hardware , right?

That's correct. Their premium priced 980+ series is not built to last and is going to get owned in DX12 by AMD: https://twitter.com/PellyNV/status/702556025816125440

As an owner of a GTX970 I currently feel the accelerated obsolescence of this GPU, thanks to its memory bus limitation. More and more titles want 4 GB of VRAM, and not just 3.5.

So their plan is to charge premium $ for the main game, premium $ for expansion 1, ....

So my plan is to get the discounted GOTY edition.

I think what bummed me out initially was that everything was hovercraft, and the two sides had little differentiation. The newer gameplay vids show improved differentiation, but everything is still hover. What made TA/SupCom so great was how the sheer variety of weapons could all be an equally valid path to victory.
- Turtle up and lob artillery or nukes across the map.
- Rush the enemy with a huge ground army of cheap or midrange units.
- Turtle up and build a huge airforce to bomb the crap out the enemy.
- Awesome naval options for water maps
- Save up for an "Experimental" unit and steamroll the enemy
- Airlift (automatically) massive armies across the map for surprise and flanking attacks
- Any combination of the above.

I like what I see of AotS so far, but it feels only partly finished without mechs, tanks, ships, specials, defenses, etc. etc. One thing I do like is the connected map nodes, a la CoH. But without unit variety, it just feels like the "spam and jam" style gameplay would be the main way to play. Where's the beef?

This sums up my opinion, perfectly.

On a side note: I like how those overpriced Nvidia cards show ZERO benefit from going to DX12 (unlike AMD's cards). I'm one of those who got fucked over by the 970 fiasco and Nv's "don't worry, it's a feature" stance. It's now getting more and more obvious that Nv's current overpriced hardware simply doesn't support several DX12 features. >$700 for a 980 Ti that performs like a 390X under DX12. LOL. AMD next time.

Too many games, not enough time. They need to start spreading them out a bit. XCOM2 this week, Tomb Raider last week. Division's beta. Damn. I need to retire so I can play more games.

Tomb Raider can wait for a summer sale, I'm still enjoying Fallout 4. Xcom2 I'd be more inclined to pick up with a demo. Really not into the whole RNG thing that makes you have to restart missions all the time after you miss with a 90% chance to hit, and then get killed when the enemy had a 20% chance to hit.

Frustrated the hell out of me in the original. 2 snipers, upgraded to hell, with high ground, a 98/99% hit chance... both miss. One dies on the pistol shot the enemy returns fire with.

Sounds familiar. This impossible-dice-role shit happened much too frequently in the first game. I decided to delete Xcom 1 when my best soldier was insta-killed while fully hidden by a smoke grenade.

Meh... I guess. I just find it amazing there are still people alive, with a computer, that don't have CS:GO, or have already played enough of the previous versions to be utterly sick of the CS format.

$15 Elite:Dangerous was too tempting, I contributed to that #5 placement, I'm sorry to say.

Yeah, after several years of hardcore CS I have zero urge to ever go back.

As for ED I've been tempted to grab it too...then I read the negative reviews and remember why I don't buy it. At least ETS2 has some nice scenery. Sounds like they focused way too much on size and realism and forgot the fun.

Focus on size and realism is fine. The completely unnecessary always-on DRM isn't. Why would I pay anything for a broken "no-DRM" promise?

I'm mighty surprised. One must assume most of these 12M copies are for consoles. Because the PC port is a $60 catastrophe that can't be played with a mouse/keyboard in its current state and form.

Elite is fantastic.

I watched people play it on Twitch several times when I was thinking about buying it, and it seemed incredibly boring and monontous. They were all just repeating the same tasks over and over. Didn't see any compelling reason to buy it.

You guys need to look at the prices before you make comments about games "falling down the list". Several of those games wouldn't have even been on it without significant discounts.

Right, and keeping all that Boredom "alive" and "dynamic" definitely requires always-on DRM..... fuck that and f. u. Braben.
