IMO the PC Gamer rag isn't completely without value. The Desslock and Mahood columns are routinely excellent, and Dan Stapleton is still a member of the old guard when it comes to PC Gaming. I generally agree with his reviews as well.

Dan Stapleton quit to run Gamespy and the Desslock columns have started appearing on pcgamer.com, so any reason to read the magazine is quickly dying.

I got a sub for $5 a while back, but once that ends I don't see why I would renew.

Have fun fighting high level mages without any resistances. I'm sure after about a hundred one-shot kills, you'll probably feel differently. :)

Since the patch finally fixes the absolutely fucked mouse control into perfect mouse control, I can deal with no resistances.

I got one of these not too long ago for a plane flight. It was probably the worst gaming magazine I had seen, which is saying something.

That said, sorry to those losing their jobs. Best of luck.

Only if the asses made AC:2 like this. Damned thing still requires internet at every launch. Stupid when AC:B came out. Really fucking stupid now that AC:R is finally out.

If they would just patch out DRM after a year or so then sooooo many less people would complain about it. Instead ancient games with sequels already out and years old cracks still annoy paying customers.

Good interview. I haven't played Lonesome Road yet, but the other three DLCs were good stuff. Honest Hearts a little plain, but all of them were worth the cash easily.

I want to see this new Dead Money ending, and hear the Dog dialogue about the cathedral.

And FYI: AC:R has one time activation.

So you don't have to log in to Uplay whenever you want to play the game?

Brotherhood was DRM free, so it wouldn't be too surprising. It had an activation with Uplay but you could sign-in offline instead.

13. Re: Indie Royale's Really Big Bundle Nov 29, 2011, 21:25 StingingVelvet

I was once so pumped about the indie scene but I'm pretty burned out already. Just endless little releases that I buy or bookmark and then never look at again. It's like a money toilet.

Stuff like Dead State still excites, but that's almost a "middle-class" game at this point, with how the indie scene is right now.

Yeah, Assassin's Creed is one of the few things Ubisoft has been doing right lately. Even so, I think I'll be waiting until this goes on sale.

Same. These annual releases are a bit nutty, I haven't even finished Brotherhood yet. I don't even think it's been long enough since AC2 to release another game, let alone two of them.

That said if you like the formula they always deliver. I'll be getting it in 2013 for $20 or less.

That being said some people have the disposable income and just don't care, they want that extra 5% no matter what is involved in terms of profile headaches and bugs.

Sure, and more power to 'em.

Fixing so many rare issues and not the critical issues PC players are experiencing. This isn't much of a patch.

Mouse control is pretty damn critical and honestly the only issue I have with the game.

Man I'm really bummed to hear you say that, I've been saving my mage for another playthru and was counting on their questline being good. It's amazing how they improved so many other aspects of the game but the quest design has seemingly suffered as a result, at least for the major "schools" from the older titles.

I've finished all the questlines except the main quest and I would say the companions are the worst, actually. Pretty boring stuff IMO, and most of the quests are very simple fetch quests. The mage's college actually has a good setup and some cool moments, it just kind of ends out of nowhere and promotes you without much reason. It almost feels like the budget ran out or something.

The thieves guild is by far the best IMO.

You can run Metro 2033 at 1920x1080, 8xAA, max settings, at a constant 60+ FPS? If so, I salute your videocard.

I did run it on max DX11 settings actually, yes, but with FXAA. Not a big deal to me at all, and probably one of 2 or 3 examples you could find in total.

So piracy is so bad that Ghost Recon has to be a free-2-play abomination, but not for Rainbow Six? I'm thinking we'll be finding out soon that the PC version has been canned.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier was originally announced for PC and then dropped, so it's possible this will turn out the same. I think they only dropped GR:FS to try and boost interest in the free to play game, though, no matter what else they say.

I'm not sure why I would get SLI going when my single card maxes out every damn game out there. I guess if I was running at a way higher resolution, like for multi-monitors, but other than that I don't see much point to it. I would rather upgrade my single GPU more often.

My bet is that we won't see the CK until after Christmas. My theory is that they don't want to give the PC version something the console versions can't have for fear of hurting console sales.

I doubt it, if they felt that way they would have held back the mod tools for their other recent titles.

It's likely they put the mod tools off to get the game out the door and now they're working on patches. The tools will come.

Yeah it's a bit odd, and left and right don't seem to change?!?!

Yeah, the vertical sensitivity is based on framerate. I assume it has something to do with fucking analog sticks, I dunno. Hopefully "mouse sensitivity issues" is referring to that.

Please god let those mouse tweaks make the sensitivity stable across framerates. The mouse control in Skyrim drives me NUTS. I would love to see the patch make it relatively smooth like Oblivion's and Fallout 3's.

I wouldn't call this one major since they likely had a week or less to compile the fixes before sending it out for verification on the various distribution networks. I'll bet the next patch is larger, with technical, performance and quest fixes, but those take longer. I wouldn't expect the next update until around Xmas.

Bethesda have never really boosted performance in patches. I think expecting that is a bit naive.

It's my understanding that only some elements, shadows in particular, that are CPU limited. The GPU plays a major role in determining the performance one can attain with a given level of detail.

Shadows and NPCs are all on the CPU, which is what causes the framerate loss in cities and certain other areas. I'm not saying GPU power is irrelevant, it's just not why most people with modern rigs are having issues.

Word on the Bethesda forums is that these don't really do anything for Skyrim performance, which is CPU limited and not GPU limited.

Also some weird graphical anomalies have been reported.
