You're not forced to buy it, but being constantly reminded of their product is annoying.

Isn't being constantly reminded of a product the whole point of advertising?

Not sure how it would go over with the players in S. Korea, but it could be interesting.

The Brotherhood of War, a movie about the Korean war, was quite popular in South Korea, so I can't see why a game wouldn't be.

Or, go to the Vietnam era.

I'd like to see Korea. Nobody seems to remember that war.

Fuck off treating PC users as second class citizens - we actually have the best hardware platform but we're treated the worst.

That's because you're all a bunch of filthy pirates dontchaknow?

But not total control.

Total control is irrelevant. All that matters is having the majority.

I have not played any of your games, which (if i was to) would be a great starting point?

A different developer.

Even if you're the majority holder, as a publically traded company, you've just given up a good amount of control.

But if they own more than half, then by definition they have control. Doesn't matter if you own 100% or only 50.1%.

Its because console games are (in most cases) sub par compared to your average PC game. Not only in story but controls

I don't think so. It depends on the type of game. Some games play better with gamepads (i.e. platformers), some better with mouse & keyboard (FPS, RTS, etc), and so on.

And as for the story comment, that's just silly. I've played plenty of PC games with ridiculous stories vs plenty of console games w/ great stories (and vise-versa). Story-telling is independent of platform.

There were three different fighting styles you could use but you didn't manually block, parry or even attack. You simply initiated an attack and then clicked again to continue the attack when the prompts popped up. It looked cool but wasn't very engaging.

The combat in The Witcher reminded me of old-school turn-based combat (except in real-time). I agree, a little more depth would have been nice, but I think it was designed to mimic classic RPG combat.

weaksauce..another planned leak to try and get some attention. I am so sick of companies without morals:/

"Companies without morals"? What B.S. CD Projekt is one of the best damned video game companies today. Their support for the original Witcher went above and beyond what 99% of other companies do, not to mention the work they've done to create GOG. If they want to leak a video, more power to them.

Looks promising, although I'm skeptical about the QTEs. If they do them the right way (i.e. God of War style) then they could be okay. If they do them the wrong way (i.e. Resident Evil 4 style) then I will be chucking my mouse across the room in frustration.

I was really considering re-buying all of these games on Steam (I still own all the original discs, etc), but I think I'm actually going to pass.

Based on readings of the Steam forums, you're probably better off this way. People have been having various issues with JK (including the big ommission of the music), as well as Dark Forces and Mysteries of the Sith.

I was all set to jump on this collection too, but after reading the complaints, I'm saving my cash.

Copyright Violation is not a Crime, its a Civil Offense.

It depends. Some acts of copyright violation are criminal offenses.

Edit: But ... Jedi Knight 2 is a horrid ripoff. No CD music, a buggy software mode and if you want hardware acceleration for the graphics, just put an old GeForce card or similar in your highend, multicore computer. I just asked Valve for a refund ...

That's disappointing. That was main title I was interested in too. Bummer.

edited to add: Looking at the Steam Forums, apparently people are having problems with the original JK as well. Looks like LA screwed up with this release.

I'm a little confused how internet access can be a "basic human right". Are we talking about the right to access it from anywhere or are we talking about the right to subscribe to an ISP?

The specific type of addiction the author is talking about seems to revolve around getting in-game items. I've never really understood the appeal of this. It's an in-game item. So what? It has no real value outside of the game unless you sell it on eBay or something. And once you're done the game or get a better item, it's automatically obsolete. So what's the appeal of in-game loot? I just don't get it.

They missed the Penumbra games, which isn't surprising given that it's an indie game and only for PC. But Penumbra: Black Plague is one of the scarier games I've played and probably the scariest to be released in recent memory.

I wonder what the average age of gamers is these days.

Most polls I've seen put it around 28-29.
