http://news.cnet.com/8301-13846_3-10054438-62.html is the first thing that pops up when asking google

Obviously not every pirated download is a lost sale, but on the flipside I seriously doubt there are zero lost sales as a result of downloads.

Piracy Rates and Profits do not correlate

And you know this how exactly?

As long as they make it more like the original Ghost Recon (i.e. less scripted and no god-awful checkpoint saves) I'll be content. Otherwise, meh.

On the other hand, if they'd charged a *minimum* of a dollar, and all of the $.01 people decided to buy it anyway, they'd have made an additional $16,000.

That would never happen.

So much more insulting to the developer to pay a penny rather than just steal it.

Well, they set the minimum price. In fact, I would argue the price itself was only $0.01 and everything above that was charity.

If this doesn't indicate to people that games are overpriced, I don't know what will.

It doesn't indicate that in the slightest. It's simply a very logical outcome of demand curves in economics.

I agree, but there is a whole generation of gamers who refuse to pay anything. To them , all games, and their time is apparently worth nothing. *shrug*

Nah, this is just reflecting a typical demand curve. The closer the price gets to $0, vastly more people jump on board.

I have no problem believing people pirate the game but 60% percent of multiplayer copies being pirated I have serious doubts about.

I have no doubts about that. If anything, that seems kinda low.

That headline is very misleading since the comparison was for two different codecs. Different codecs can sound the same at different levels of compression. A real test would be the same codec at different levels.

I personally find it a bit disturbing that people enjoy watching sadism so much that 5 sequels to SAW were warranted.

We used to have public executions. Now we have horror movies. Little has changed.

It seems like most of you don't actually know anything about this game. For one, you don't play as Jigsaw, you play as one of his victims forced to play his game. You are just trying to survive, though you do have to sometimes kill in self-defense. In other cases, you have to solve puzzles in order to actually save lives of other characters.

Never let facts get in the way of knee-jerk reactions.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV- The Complete Edition on Steam. Save 50%.

Oh hell yes. I knew it would happen if I waited long enough.

EA still pushes limited activation DRM on its PC games. They're still evil, the bastards.

Anyone try this yet? The art style looks really neat, but is it worth it as a game?

That said, why on earth would Valve ever sell off Steam?

He's not suggesting selling it so much as making it its own entity. But even if it was spun off into its own company, it's probably going to have the same ownership group so the point is moot.

The PSP 3000 has some interlacing problems.

It's really not that bad, to be honest. I think it's more an issue for people with an original PSP or PSP 2000, who then upgraded to the 3000. If you start with a 3000, you probably won't even notice.

Is the PSP worth getting anymore or is it dead?

Is the I-Pod Touch better?

As a games console the PSP is quite good and there's a decent library of games available (at least for the original PSP w/ a UMD drive). But if you want a portable media player, then get an iPod Touch.
