To the developers: Mafia was the shit. Make us proud with the sequel. Don't make a PS2 version and port it to the other platforms! Make it for the PC and downgrade from there. For the love of God God games, are you listening?

To those who havn't played it: You are missing out on an awesome story and some wonderful environments.

To those who have played it: Cheers!

No you cannot tell how it runs by looking at a rolling demo. A 24 frames per second dvd looks smooth. You could slap a cheap blur effect (GTA: Vice City like) on a realtime rolling demo (to simulate the motion blur that movies have) and it would look smooth as butter despite only running at 24 fps. 24 fps is as you may know NOT an adequate framerate when you are interacting in a 3d world.

And the big deal was about them announcing the demo. I don't know if you have noticed but others just sort of... you know.. RELEASE their movies and demos.
Announcing a demo or movie is very pompous, and quite often turns around and bites you in the back if you don't deliver. Who can forget the mucho hoopla over the Sin demo back in -98? It got delayed, it stunk, and then the game flopped.

Imagine that you walk into your supermarket and that you have to navigate around a huge billboard announcing a new toilet paper to be released in two weeks. That would be kind of silly. Sure you might try it if it was actually there to see and to buy, but to friggin announce a new toilet paper...

I completely agree - this is bullshit.

Sure, if you have a very anticipated "big" game, then you might get away with "announcing" a demo. But if you are not a major player then you'll just end up looking silly.
And if you ON TOP of that don't even have a -playable- demo, then you are REALLY making a fool out of yourself by "announcing" it.

And it better have benchmarking functions built in to let people "see" how their computer runs the game (since they wont be allowed to "feel" it by playing).

If marketing drones don't stop using the phrase "next-generation" soon when they mean the current, 2 year old batch of consoles, I will kill someone.

Not nearly enough turn based strategy games around. And since JA2 pretty much is undefeated even after 4 years, I pretty exited over the prospect of a JA3.

That interface better only look like that when you are actually fiddling with something (changing weapons, gadget, augmentation), or there will be hell to pay.
I'm not paying top dollar for a PC to render everything with all options turned on, just to have it obscured by that Chris Farley-sized HUD.

Logic dictates that it should fade away after using it, but since it's in ALL the screenshots I can't help but being worried.

MS came to Bioware with this game. They ordered it if you will. So MS is in charge, and it's not by accident or Bioware design that it appears on the Xbox first.

Second, I'm just amazed by people who somehow equals console gaming with PC gaming. As if the difference between a game on PC and the same game on a console is... well nothing. Well nothing could be further from the truth all right.
I could go on and on about the look and feel differences between console and PC gaming, but I'm gonna stop right here. Those who know what I'm talking about are already nodding in recognition, and I don't feel any inclination to spend any energy on those who don't.

You're kidding?! Remind me to avoid CDV like the Borg.

"name the game the lame name" has a nice ring to it btw.

It is a well know fact that Joe Strummer is broke. The record deals back then were just as bad for the artist as they are now, and Strummer has repeatedly said those contracts meant that he stopped seeing any money from The Clash sales years ago.

Mick Jones sold out over 10 years ago with that Levi's commercial. That was one of the few songs which he didn't co-write with Strummer, that was how he could pull it off.
Now I guess Strummer too is tired of being piss poor with ideals.

If the money enables him to get off the road (touring with shitty bands to get food on the table) and produce a decent album before he dies then I say go for it.

I wonder. If you ice that peeing guard with a headshot, will they always make him fall forward, or will they make him tuck in his johnson real quick before he dies?

And turn on some anisotropic filtering before taking screenshots next time for crying out loud.

Woaah there what a cheap tactic. Dangling a DOOM 3 in front of people and touting "It's free" and most certainly counting on people to be too lazy to cancel even if that was originally their intention. Talk about sleazy.

Gamespot have now steeped to the level of the kind of persons mothers swoop their children away from while taking a shortcut through a little to murky alley.

Judging by the perfect AA and the perfect shadows combined with the look of the first shots, I am sad to conclude that these are pre-rendered indeed.

Unless the 8x AA on ATI cards really look that good, and they have a new lightning engine. Possible? Yes. Doubtful? Yes.

What is the internet coming to if we can't spew out one-liner opinions sans explanations? That would be a sad day indeed.
Then we could just as well return to our schools, workplaces and governmental institutions where we have to explain ourselvs. Where is the fun and progress in that?

I think y'all have to take a step back and contemplate what these news comment forums really are for. That's right. One-liner opinions sans explanations.

And to honor this I now say:

The Team Factor demo sucks.

The SOF2 "beta" is horribly mediocre.

Hold your horses people.

As you may have heard Black Isle will be using the Fallout S.P.E.C.I.A.L. character system for all their rpgs after IWD2.

I'm sure that this article only uses the phrase "Fallout Fantasy" as a witty (well that's certainly arguable) way of saying this. It's also possible that the folks over at BIS are using it as a temporary name for their next fantasy rpg. Anyone from the UK can confirm the european love for funny headlines.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, would be stupid enough to name the next Fallout game "Fallout Fantasy".
Well maybe a French publisher...

"I like it that they are using the imagery backgrounds in the far distance."

You havn't noticed every other 3d game since the beginning of time doing this? It's often talked about as a "skybox".

If you are refering to them using themes from the actual levels in their skyboxes I hope you havn't forgotten that Quake 2 did this as well.

When will the demo be as important as the actual game? When will the first thick-headed suit at some publishing company realise that millions of people want to try this game out, and if it's in the warez circle before there is a demo out... Well.

And oh yeah - this is the part where some blue-eyed fanboy who can't see past the red piece of cloth into the argument calls out: "Just because you are an asshole doesn't mean that I will warez it!".
No, I didn't say that I will warez it. Joe Sixpack will warez it.
