Quake (and Quake 2) were the central focus of this site back in the day - and it was a magical time in gaming. Yeah, modems made it tough, but it was new uncharted territory with CTF Clan matches, deathmatches, with typing to chat during games. I loved it and outgrew it, but miss it.

I wish I could look fondly back at those times. But when I really think about it all I did was waste time I could have spent chasing girls or playing guitar

No doubt. I finally updated my guitar gear and joined a rock band ...in my forties! after I eventually kicked the Quake habit. Now I have cash for musical gear since I stopped upgrading my PC so much.

What will they do without DNF to work on?

Really - without DNF - does anybody at all care about this company? When all is said and done, the opportunity to release this game was monumental and missing it is beyond a shame.

UGO is fucking retarded - they just killed off every single piece of content that the "bustling community" they mention cares about. There will be no more community after this.

Too bad that the "community" didn't pay the bills. You cannot continue to pay employees - even if they are stellar - if the money ain't coming in. You must stay lean and focused in business to succeed - I don't know why people get so upset - business is business.

That's when I first turned on to the web site [H]ard Freakin OCP!

I find it so funny how "redistribution of wealth" has become a buzzword for the GOP.

What do you mean? - Obama himself said that's his desire - it's not created by anyone but HIM!

LOOSER.
We haven't snagged a drop of oil from our conquest.
I was speaking of drilling for oil in the frickin' USA dude!
If we don't drill - yes, we are held by the balls by countries that hate us.
It is a fact - we don't produce enough oil.
What are you laughing about?

Even as a kid, I understood where fossil fuels came from and that they are non-renewable energy sources.
Ok - so the entire free (and not so free) world runs on oil, a plentiful natural resource that we currently buy mostly from countries that are essentially contentious towards us. Why not drill in areas owned by the US? The natural resources are not just for the American animals in desolate frozen deserts - but the humans who inhabit this earth. Modern oil rigging is extremely safe, effective and protective of the environment. Why let the rest of the world hold us by our balls?

It reminds me of the idiots that dispute the environmental impact humans have on the planet.
What idiots are disputing the environmental impact humans have on the earth? Many people do not believe the hoax that is global warming - there is no good science confirming that humans are actually warming the earth. In the mean time, we had better get some more oil of our own to regain control of our own energy destiny.

No matter what you say, the world runs on oil and there is no alternate fuel created yet capable of running cars, airplanes and heating homes. Period. So lets get to it, and get OUR oil from OUR land for OUR country.

i dont remember the last time i got a rush from playing a game like i did before a clan match would start.
No doubt!
I thought I was old then - about 33 - playin' online with a bunch of teenagers...
I loved being in CTF clan - on a 56k modem!
It was tough, but incredibly fun!

I think it's true that there are parallels in the skills required to be a good business leader and a good guild leader but the skills probably have more to do with the individual than with the game.

Agreed - I think the players who are good leaders already have the natural skills and they apply them in the game. It's not the game giving them the skills..

The same immaturity and narcissism that drives someone to pirate a game will also lead them to vehemently deny that their actions were in any way responsible for the problems that piracy have caused. It's futile arguing with them.

end of story. party over. done.

So there you have it. Good reasons to pirate games.

..like I said - if all my customers were like YOU - I'd stop providing my service/products to you and abandon your ass.

You don't deserve a well made game.

They always assume that the person that pirates the game would buy it if they didn't pirate it.

Hardly the case.
Not even close.

You miss the point. Pirating the game for any reason is stealing the property - period. Any loss of sale is loss revenue - if the product is on your PC, and you did not pay for it, they have lost the revenue. There are countless examples of people playing pirated games their friends gave them - it's just so very common. Game making is a business - stealing the product for any reason is wrong and lame - I don't blame a buisness for abandoning a market that continuously steals from it.

You (everyone who downplays piracy) don't deserve good PC games.
